So is this the final director's cut or the final ultimate collection or the final on HD-DVD or the final but we'll add some new useless commentary in the next edition final...
Look, nobody is forcing you to buy this. If you want the Director's Cut and no frills, buy the single disc release which has been available for a year for $10 or less. If the print has run out or you want more extras, buy the two-disc set, it's only about $15. If that's not enough, there's also a 4 disc set. For us movie freaks they are offering the 5 disc set.
The previous release had horrible image quality. This new release fixes that, and you aren't forced to buy the extras. What exactly is your problem here?
On this same topic, gmail should let you delete one message in a thread without deleting the whole thread.
Open the thread with n messages and go to the one you want to get rid of. You can see "Reply to this" and a triangle button on the right. Click the triangle and select "Delete this message".
Let's see. There is at least some demand for decent subtitles, there are skilled amateurs willing to do the work for free and the current quality of movie releases sucks.
What would happen if you guys got organized, created a company and sold your translation services? If you were a corporate entity you would get more credibility with the copyright holders, which would mean more business, etc. You would get to do what you love, and you'd be paid to do it.
Fusion energy - if it would ever operate - would create a serious waste problem, would emit large amounts of radioactive material and could be used to produce materials for nuclear weapons. A whole new set of nuclear risks would thus be created.
kids whose buddies (or playground bullies) enable this "feature" as a prank
It's far more likely that kids would turn the volume to maximum as a prank, in which case this would shield the victim from a potential hearing damage.
Once again/. is reporting something that has been in the market for over a year. Pointer Solutions has been doing this for a while; my father is one of the early adopters.
As others have pointed out, the idea is that you can listen your dog working. Compared to the older radar equipment this GPS system has been a tremendous help, even though the prices are quite high/unit. I don't know how useful this thing is for US hunters - in Finland the GSM has almost 100% coverage. If you guys have connection problems in city areas, I don't want to know what the rural conditions are like.
I for one did not really find the whole Crusade spin-off that great. It became to much of a Star Trek clone. (One ship travelling through space encountering weird aliens...)
JMS's weakness is that while he seems to be very good at the episodic ~42 minute format, his movies aren't that well paced at ~90 minutes. Further, he tends to drop very subtle hints about things that will feature in the plot much, much later (3 - 5 years wasn't unheard of with B5).
This means that while the pilot movies are filled with action, they tend to appear shallow and sometimes confusing to the casual viewer. Only further developments in the main story or careful analysis of the pilot will give you some clues. Let me give an example.
The B5 pilot The Gathering is filled with action, lots of characters and a convoluted plot. In the end it appears that "the bad guy" is G'Kar, having smuggled the assassin on the station. Well, yes. Except that G'Kar wasn't behind the turbolift sabotage. Working in the background, Lt. Commander Takashima was trying to escalate this conflict into a full-scale war. See See Lurker's Guide for an analysis. This plot point would later be rearranged and used in 2nd season.
The similarities in A Call to Arms and Legend of the Rangers suggest to me that the man has a massive story thought out; one which probably would last another 5 seasons and which he would like to tell us eagerly.
Early on, B5 was compared to Trek, but it turned out to be something different. I suspect that Crusade wouldn't have been your Trek clone, either. Myself, I can hardly wait for the movie and the eventual TV series.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but given today's hardware, is 10-20% slowdown even noticeable to the average user running, say, Word? IIRC, the threshold for user to notice anything meaningful is around 30% in day-to-day operations.
Games are a different beast, but does the user even care if loading a spreadsheet takes an extra second or two?
Instead of going on a class, get him to buy good books. I like wrox and Oreily books but others may be good also.
I'd like to pitch Marcel Gagne's Linux System Administration: A User's Guide here. This is the first book that was really useful for me, when I was trying to configure my first Red Hat. Gagne writes in a distribution-neutral way, explaining how and why the system actually works the way it does. He gives numerous useful tips and there are even some business-case solutions at the end of the book. This book is not "the only one you will need", but I would still consider it an essential read for a new user.
Just out of curiosity, on average how many DVDs that you watch are made for regions other than the one you live in?
I'm a movie collector living in Finland, and currently my small collection has 102 titles.
R1 titles: 59
R2 titles: 17
R3 titles: 5
R4 titles: 15
R0 titles: 6
The R2 releases' overall quality has really improved, which has actually made me consider waiting for the domestic release. Also, some of my friends don't understand english that well, so Finnish subtitles are always a plus. However, sometimes the titles simply aren't available (most anime, Hong Kong films), or domestic release is significantly inferior (for example, the R2 Sopranos box set was pan & scanned).
I saw this modification on a Finnish case mod site. The idea is to create a flashy way to carry up to 30 cd-r's in a dedicated storage bay. Unfortunately the text behind this link is in Finnish, but you can get the idea by looking at the pictures. You need just an old, non-working CDROM drive for this mod.
It might be a good idea to check the final picture at the bottom of the page first to see what the author's goal is.

IMO, moderators should have an ability to view bottom posts; that is, comments above X points wouldn't be shown. This'd be an opposite of "3 replies below your threshold".
This way the moderator would be able to shift through more posts without having to care about posts that've already been recognized as "5: Informative" or "4: Insightful".
I am not a GNU/Linux or free software / open source zealot; I simply recognize its genuine strengths and enormous potential.
It's a bad sign that this sort of disclaimer has to go on top of articles about open source.
True; for a good essay on why this is bad, read Lars Wirzenius' article Advocating Linux. After I read this, I started really thinking about the necessity of MS bashing. Raving about 'your own OS' can be fun, but in the long run it hurts the reputation of the community. And that's a loss for us all.
That was an excellent description about the procedure!
My vision was at -10.25 diopters with severe astigmatism (left eye) and around 7 diopters for the right eye. Lasik was performed to me 24 months ago; the cost was 21'000 FIMK (about 3'500 US dollars).
My current vision is about +0.5 diopters on the left and precisely +0 diopters at right eye. I still have starburst-like effects almost every day. These seem to occur when I move from normal lightning conditions to dark/dimly lit environment (movie theatre, outdoors on autumn/winter time etc). The effect lasts about 2 to 4 minutes and disappears gradually. As my surgeon promised, the severity of the effect has decreased a lot during this time, and it doesn't bother me at all. The ability to see in dark suffered slightly. Compared to the pre-surgery situation, I am satisfied with the results.
I recently read about a new method developed from Lasik - in that version, they cut the cornea open and insert a corrective lense inside the eye. Does anyone have any further information about this?

Think of this incident as a golden opportunity.
I can understand why they oppose nuclear power. What I don't understand is their opposition to fusion power research.

Of course you remember that the current US policy is to ignore bin Laden? "The goal has never been to get bin Laden." It's funny how these things change over time.
Also, a recent Australian study seems to indicate that masturbation may protect against prostate cancer.
