When Wing Commander 4 was done with union work (because the union came in and shut production down until it became a union job) All the inhouse staff that did voicework received cease and desist notices that they were forbidden from doing future voice work until they joined the union.
I am legitemately curious about reading more on this certain event, as I'd never heard of it before. Googling for it didn't work...Do you possibly have a link or a place I can Google (better than "wing commander actor union") to read more about it? Thanks...
Tell me, what is the difference between Advertisement and Information Message? ALL ADVERTISERS THINK OF THEIR ADVERTISEMENTS AS INFORMATION MESSAGES YOU FUCKING IDIOT.
The banner ad in the image shown by the grandparent (which I doubt you looked at) is actually a graphic advertising a new addition to a service you are already paying for. It's the best way to find out about new features on the service.
To me, it's not an advertisement if you're already paying for it. It's an informational message telling you that what you're paying for just got more stuff.
There are several FF fanboys that I've seen ONLY get a PSP so they could watch Advent Children on it. "I HAVE to get a PSP, everything else sucks about it BUT IT WILL HAVE ADVENT CHILDREN!!!!"
The Final Fantasy music already has a touring symphony series called Dear Friends. I'm going to see the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra play music from Final Fantasy in late June, but local symphonies are playing the same program (with the same conductor) in Chicago, LA, and Boston I believe.
No hack needed. The PSP's main menu has a selection to play a game from the memory stick, just like it has a selection to play a video, song, or picture from the memory stick. I'd assume all you have to do is put the right type of executable in the right directory on the PSP and you'd be able to run it without any OS hacking needed.
You know, I bet if this was a WoW character instead of an EverQuest character, the Slashdot blurb would have been more uplifting and a "testament to the greatness of the game."
I doubt this would have been posted at all if the submitter didn't give the negative connotation to the story.
Since Namco decided against releasing Katamari Damacy in Europe, that's why it wasn't nominated for the awards.
It makes sense to only reward games that are available in your area. If a publisher decides not to release a game in your area, don't reward them with an award.
Actually, the movie Road Trip was filmed on my college campus and actually interfered with my classes while they were filming.
So we went to the midnight showing at the student center theater and made fun of all of the things they did that were wrong. Like driving the wrong way on what we knew was a one way street.
The movie sucked, but it was surreal to watch. Especially when they didn't bother taking our college logo off of the football field and they wanted you to think it was some college in New York...
Does anyone know if you get this first issue if you go ahead and get a subscription today? I've never heard about it until today and I'm interested in some of the stuff in this issue. I can call the number when I'm off work, but if anyone knows the answer before then that'd be great...
I took logic and college, and the dictioanry definitions are not seen as AND, they are seen as OR.
Look at the term "gay" for instance, it has two definitions at dictionary.com:
1. Of, relating to, or having a sexual orientation to persons of the same sex. 2. Showing or characterized by cheerfulness and lighthearted excitement; merry.
By your logic, someone who meets definition 1 but not 2 is not gay, same the other way around.
The good thing is, most people that I know who work in anime fandom fully acknowledge that they are cartoons that come from Japan. In fact, my friend who lives in Japan explained to me that the word anime in fact MEANS CARTOON in Japanese. Disney movies are considered "anime" in Japan. It's good that there's only a small subset of those who proclaim that they're "too old to watch cartoons" but since this cartoon doesn't have funny bits "it's not a cartoon."
Wouldn't it be easier just to take all of the physical customization crap out
Considering that the tool IS for the phyiscal customization (there's not much statistic character customization in EQ2, they kept it simple outside of race and class in terms of actual numbers) then sure, they could have fit all that into 0MB and it would be a lot easier..
My friends blasted me for buying a DS, becuase they have the belief that Nintendo always relies on their franchises way too much and that's why they won't bother with the system. They're not WRONG with what they're saying about there being a lot of Mario/Zelda/Metroid games, but their reasoning for poopooing the DS is because Nintendo seems to rely too much on existing games.
But they're stoked over the PSP, and Sony can do no wrong. However, every single game title that I've seen them go gaga over has been...existing franchises. (Gran Turismo, Metal Gear, GTA, Midnight Club, Ridge Racer...)
They don't exactly like it when I point out the irony. ("Why would I want to get a system where I can play an old and tired game with Mario in it where I can get the PSP and play Gran Turismo?")
I'd assume it would be for the level designers and scriptwriters and artists and stuff.
The way I understand it (someone can correct me if I am wrong) is that the $15/mo or so actually goes towards the upkeep of the server hardware, paying the sysadmins and the in-game support team, and for bugfixes of the sort. The actual game-running team is a seperate team than the programmers/artists that designed the game and it's content.
It looked to me like it was an ad for a company that creates games out of 100% Human Misery. Just about all of the "segments" had to deal with EA games or people who perform on EA Trax, and even the categories were dominated by EA. (The ones that weren't were thrown into 60 second "and other games receiving awards..." commercial bumpers.) Hell, the Best Racing Game category were three EA games, and that's it.
Sure, other games won some of the categories, but just about all of the "segments" used EA properties or talent that appears in EA games.
Katamari Damacy was way more addictive than the other games in that category, but since it wasn't by EA and didn't have any rap music in it, it didn't stand a chance. (Also, the "Best Soundtrack" category was won by a game that used all licensed tracks from the early 90's...It beat out games that had original soundtracks that were amazing...Great message to send to publishers!)
no, but thanks. i'm too busy destroying best buy and rockstar
If you haven't figured out it was fake just by looking at this one "response"...I highly doubt a lawyer would use such incriminating terminology such as "destroying".
You didn't watch the VGA's or that Ultimate Gamer show that went on after it, did you...
AND, on top of THAT, the misunderstanding ALSO TOOK PLACE a week ago! (May 27th, and the interview was on May 26th.)
I personally would go with The Movies, but I'm biased against FPS's so that's why.
Apparently nobody ever tried to tell a story in a game before 1998!

Steel Battalion and it's sequel.
No controller ports.
Fun game, though, worth the money and I still play it, so I'll still have an Xbox hooked up somewhere.

Sucks to be them!

Namco has somewhat announced that they are making Katamari Damacy for the Nintendo DS.
Personally, I'm glad it's out for the PS2. That means the most amount of people can enjoy it.
That's the same price the original was in Japan, as well.
I bet you anything when they release it in the US, it will be at the same $19.99 price point.
The guy who designed ET is the same guy who designed Yar's Revenge, what many people claim to be one of the best 2600 games ever made.
The problem with ET wasn't WHO designed it, it's the fact that they only gave him about 6 weeks to design, code, and test the game.

Actually, the PSP COMES with a 32MB Memory Stick Duo. Not a Pro Duo, although those work as well. Amateur Duo's work just fine.
I think one of the proposed English titles was "Trashman" or "Garbageman".
I'm personally glad they kept the original Japanese title (Katamari Damashii = Clump of Souls) instead of Americanizing it.

However, IANAL, so I may be completely wrong.
