This has already happened, in the IRC scene, some whole IP blocks sometimes get banned for excess 'lamerz' coming from them. Flamewars ensue, eventually the ban gets lifted, rinse, repeat.
Also, some of the OpenNAP servers out there are by invitation only, so yes P2P is changing.
They better get LOTS AND LOTS of IP addies, because word will get around about which users distribute corrupt file and folks are going to publish web pages listing the user IDs and IP address blocks disseminating corrupt files.
Also, it's not that difficult to listen to the first 30s of a partial download--if it's junk, download cancelled, user banned, nice try.
AnimeNewsNetwork: Neither DVD release is listed on the any of the major retailers websites yet (Amazon.com does have a page for the DVDs (and has for a long time), that lists them as "The studio is currently not producing this title on DVD."
Did a histogram on the subtitle word 'Mange'. as inserted by the DVD player): R:141 G:137 B:126 -- Almost perfect.
The whole scene is skewed: R:141 G:119 B:63.
Worse is Haku's (boy on the right) shirt, supposed to be white: R:244 G:183 B:136
This looks like the white balance was pushed all the way to 6000K
I'd like to be able to view some of the players are they are playing their games. Perhaps some sort of combined passive telnet + IRC so other viewers can comment, chat while watching. No kibitzing obviously, musn't disturb the participants.
Personally, I read RXC's column with a huge grain of salt and tongue firmly in cheek with several;-) thrown in for good measure.
Unfortunately, law enforcement officials don't have a sense of humor. IANAL, but I believe he is inciting to commit a crime, and incitement to (food) riot too. OTOH, it would be a great publicity stunt to get arrested.
There is a good chance his next column will be entitled:

or even
Do not pass Go, Do not collect $200
Robert X. Cringely goes to jail
And so they have theire butts covered: it means that the Winamp distribution will no longer come with the IN_MP3.DLL plugin. I expect future versions will have an (optional) 75 download charge for IN_MP3.DLL.
Of course, if you already have the plugin, no need to pay for it again -- and it could make use of the Windows Media Player MP3 codecs (paid for by your Windows XP license).

The green tint in The Matrix is on purpose. On the scenes 'outside' the matrix (on the good ship Nebuchedanezzersp? ) aren't off.
Does that mean we can go ahead and sue WB for the faulty green tint on The Matrix DVD?

- Athlon XP 1800+ == 1.6GHz
And so onOf course when I bought my PC last November, I was sold a "1.6GHz" system with (you guessed it) an XP 1600+.
As for performance, yes, this CPU rocks, no deception implied here.
