I loved the Wing Commander series and was very disappointed when they decided to go lite on the movie parts with the last game. The world needs more Kilrathi.
Wouldn't the case be that his ip would be recorded as visiting the offending yahoo site but the actual file would only reside on the hard drive of the computer that is using him as a proxy?
200 infected files doesn't mean much to me. My father has McAfee Privacy Something on his computer and it lists every cookie as a "malicious program" or some such thing. Is that what this computer forensic expert for the defense did? Just run some commercial anti-spyware app and testify to the results?
It's great this kid passed a polygraph, but as is mentioned on Slashdot everytime polygraphs come up, they are bunk. I don't see any reason to think that this kid didn't download something illegal.
I have no idea how I keep triggering this thing, but having the inline search pop up every time time the apostrophe key is pressed is mildly frustrating. Please remove this feature.
The book just had it's 75th anniversary a few weeks back. John Derbyshire over at National Review commented on it:
"When I was an earnest sixth-former (=highschool senior), a standard classroom discussion was: Which of the two books Brave New World or Nineteen Eighty-Four presents a more probable view of our future? The question looks pretty absurd now, unless you live in North Korea, I suppose." http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=ZDYxOTc5M 2E3Y2VkMWYxOGM1YTQzNTYyMWUwMzcyMDA=
There was video from last week's announcement of a guy demonstrating bowling in Wii Sports. He was making the point that it's so great because "hey look, I'm standing in front of the TV and actually making bowling movements to bowl, just like real bowling!" That certainly has a cool factor, but having to jump up from my seat and flail about to play a game is going to get old fast. It seemed to me that the demo/ad for Red Steel also had a guy jumping off his couch to play. I really hope I can sit in a chair and play games. If I can't make all the necessary controller movements sitting in a chair without bobbing and weaving side to side, I'll be more inclined to go with an XBOX 360 over the Wii.
I find the Ubuntu forums to be totally inadequate. There were at least 15 different threads on how to get wireless working for my dell b130, with none of them working for me.
I still don't understand why the latest stable ndiswrapper isn't included on whatever Ubuntu CD is offered on the website. That alone would probably solve most people's wireless issues. Everything needed to get wireless networking working should be on the CD. Not everyone has wired access, certainly not with city's and towns rolling out municipal wireless.
It's great fun playing during the Revolutionary War. It would be great if someone did a similar Civil War mod. Red staters and Blue staters would love to go all Blue vs Gray online.

Kinda like what the USA did with Iraq?
Maybe they keep getting wiped out by an intelligent lifeform that we may tip off to our own existance.
It was easy on the eyes, and in dark situations the indiglo backlighting worked great.
But then released yet another version where they removed the shotgun and replaced it with a flashlight.
Why do the 24/7 news channels that host these debates feel the need to impose a 90 minute time limit on a debate with 10 participants?
Twilight Zone does a good job of beating out most modern TV.
New games use a frustrating amount of buttons and button combos to accomplish things in 3d.
America's Army and Wolfenstein: ET are also free.
The price is right, the new screen is excellent, good selection of games, and the form factor is perfect.
Particularly I'm thinking of the goldbox series of games.
I was a huge fan of the Buck Rogers series. Too bad that died.

If I want to choose to eat at a restaurant that uses transfats then that is between me and that restaurant.
I haven't heard of the ACLU jumping in to defend anyone's rights in this case.
Wow, that's so divorced from reality.

This might be worth reading too.

I've seen this story before.
