Exactly, it as if you'd request your car maker to "update" your car because now the newest models comes with air-conditioning."Hey I want this upgrade too!"
Need a PHP Debugger? DBG can do remote debugging and it can be integrated with the PHP Edit IDE, which is very nice : http://dd.cron.ru/dbg/
Now, who need Visual Studio? Almost every (php) editors now has code insight, integrated help, code completion, skins and whatnot. Hell, I sometimes go back to Notepad for quick fixes because its faster to fire up. But if you said PHP need an IDE, I think that you have not looked around very much.
Now people start your eng-uh editors and go code some PHP!
The Duke 3D engine wasn't really 3d as its used a raytracing technique to render its graphics as opposed to the Quake (and later engine) which use real poylgoes and lightning to display its graphic.
"(for example, you cannot power off an XBox or eject a DVD using the remote) and secondly some DVDs will just refuse to work for no good reason."
The PS2 currently sold support this feature (eject and power off) In fact all you need is the "new" remote control (about 15$ ) along with it. It has these 2 new buttons + the new PS2's the ir receiver is built-in now and they are dirt cheap, considering the large library of Best seller titles (triple A titles at 20$ a pop) PS2 is still the way to go for games.
"If you use WinXP or 2003 open the process manager and set the firefox/opera process to realtime, might do the trick."
Nice, if you accept the fact that the process manageer does not remember these settings once you close the instance of the program or when you reboot. Useless IMO.
And BTW, about slower loading time for FireFox:
Just keep it open, that is why they put tabbed based browsing in so you don't have to close your browser each time.
I don't know about other people, but at work, I rarely close my browser once I fired it up for the first time in the morning. Is the 1/100's seconds more that it takes to open vs IE is really that noticable? I prefer a more secure browser anyways.
EDDIE All right. Everybody cough up some green for the little lady.
Come on. Throw in a buck.
MR. PINK Uh-uh. I don't tip.
EDDIE You don't tip?
MR. PINK No - I don't believe in it.
EDDIE You don't believe in tipping?
MR. BLUE You know what these chicks make? They make shit.
MR. PINK Don't give me that. She don't make enough money, she can quit.
(Mr. Blonde laughs.)
EDDIE I don't even know a fucking Jew who'd have the balls to say that. Let me just get this straight. You don't ever tip, huh?
MR. PINK I don't tip because society says I have to. Alright, I mean I'll tip if somebody really deserves a tip, if they really put forth the effort, I'll give 'em something extra, but I mean this tipping automatically is for the birds.
(Eddie laughs.)
I mean as far as I'm concerned they're just doing their job.
If all those languages you mentionned didn't do it, then maybe its not her thing and programming is not for her.
For example : I know people who would love to learn playing guitar but no matter how hard they try, they just can't seem to get it.
I started with Basic when I was six years old and moved up from there. My say is : If someone is not interrested enough to put the effort to actually learn and read and be studborned about it then he/she just give up.
If she really want to learn and be good at it then she would have not give up to the first chapters of said books. My take on it: Not for her/too lazy/not interrested enough and nobody can do it for her.
In the beginning of the story, Han Solo does not believe about the Force but later in the movie when he acually see the Force in action he has no choice but to believe it.But since its so new to him, he still feel like a goon when he says "May the Force be with you" to Luke.
I downloaded the recommended ABC client (win32 version) forwarded ports 6881 to 6889 to my workstation and am now doing over 330KB/s DL and 45KB/s UL.. finally! Thanks to y'all
Then please someone explain me why I'm downloading at 7KiB/s and uploading at 30 KiB/s ? Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? (and alot faster for the download speed) I tried BitTorrent many times and always had the same result in other words, WTF? How come other people have these wonderful transfer rates that I have yet to see to believe it. BitTorrent is a conspiracy I tell ya!
Whoever wrote Sasser owes me a lunch break, because I had to skip it to deal with infected machines on the line. (Yeah yeah, "You should have patched sooner.)
Thats what test boxes are used for. You install the patch on the test box and see what happens...
About the Sasser worm:
You really should have patched sooner. Eh, if I remember correctly the vulnerability reports appeared on the 13th of April and the exploit came out on the 30th. You had around 15 days to patch your computers and did not do it. Who's fault it is? In that manner, better to get used to skipping lunchtime... What kind of sysadmin are you?
Regarding Sasser, we where lucky that we had so much time in between the vulnerability reports and the appearance of the worm (the exploit). In many cases it has been much shorter than that. You really have no excuses not to have patched sooner. A good firewall may help too... (it actually prevent the worm to spread itself directly via tcp)
But since you're relatively new to the field, you (hopefully) WILL learn from these experiences.
"Take the CD anywhere you chose to and use your own interface/desktop from any PC in the world that will let you have access to the CDROM drive and the reset switch."
It does not matter since when you plug your car it only keep the motor block warmer. Its call a "block heater" It is in no way related to your battery.
Ok I'll bite... You're there to WORK not to listen to music! If your employers let you listen to music while you work.. no problems (I do) but you should bring your own. If you really want to listen to mp3's then get'em at home, burn them and bring the cd. Stop complaining about not being able to download music (be it legit or not) it is THEIR time, THEIR bandiwth and as far as I know its not work related so they have every single rights to enforce that policy. What makes me laugh is when you say that it forces you to go look for other mean to get the mp3's... pathethic. You have no point. I'm 100% with your bosses. If you're not happy then go find another job TROLL!
And who never listened the noises from his trusty 14.4 modem when it was connecting to the internet and could tell that something went wrong just by listening to a slight variation in the "tune" ???
I also think its because Texas is the US biggest state (well I'm not sure but I think it is...). I'm from Canada, especially the province of Quebec and here we use it (the biggest of the country) as a measure reference. when I was in grade school our geography teacher used to say that the province of Quebec was 7 times bigger than the superficy of France.

Need to find a good PHP Editor ?
All of them (commercial, free,OSS) reviewed and classified: http://www.php-editors.com/
My personnal (and free) favorite : PHP EDIT: http://www.waterproof.fr/

Can you say : useless discussion!

I'm done
Corporate rule. Less workstation up during the off hours = less electricity spent = less $$$ spent. Of course, our servers are up 24/7 (Linux).

About the cooper plate, my guess is that it would have been less hassles (sp?) with thermal paste.
Believe it or not we have thermometers in Canada!
Remind me of the intro of this cult movie:
