    You'd also think that Linux would be easier on the tech support and people would give discounts... Although, the windows tech may give discounts so that they _will_ use windows and then end up calling in the tech support more often, because of bugs and viruses in windows... hrm...

    Flaws with your argument:

    1. Some people (me) have no money.
    2. Certain programs I use require windows
    3. MacOSX requires a completely new computer.

    However, I am using linux. Pretty much exclusively now.

    Generally most big name Linux distros will already have the drivers included in it! I would be _very_ surprised if there weren't any suitable drivers.. I found, even about a year ago, that linux driver support was really good. I suppose if you have some _extremely_ obscure hardware you might have a problem, but even then I doubt it.

    make the leap dude! You'll be glad you did. The only thing I regret is not being able to play games, but my system is slow as molasses for running new games anyway, and I have a PS2, so that doesn't bother me much. I also have VMware in case I actually need windows for some sort of strange reason...

    If you're really scared of moving to linux, I recommend Xandros : http://www.xandros.com/ It makes it relatively painless and you can still have a windows network up if you want (ie your parents refuse to switch to linux)

    Classic:

    What this program does, is, it adds a mini TSR program into a protected memory area and this RESIDENT program acts as a CPU, it analyses the program being run and takes over the work, does its own calculations, compresses the program in memory, changes certain commands, all in realtime! All this frees up your regular CPU.

    You mean I can make a program that will run all on it's own, apart from the regular CPU?? I am aghast!

    Do you own a DVD player? Do you own an mp3 player? You had to switch from one format to another at one point in time.

    It's bunk if you think that having to switch formats will be a reason for it's downfall. People are buying cd players, people are buying DVD players, what happened to media on tape formats? It evolved Heck, even CD players are becoming obsolete now.

    I think if you're able to store a couple gigs of music on those tiny discs and be able to play it on that tiny player, the pros outweigh "having to change formats" any day. And I'll do it again when the next one comes out.
