For the longest time we only had Combat, Maze Craze and Space Invaders.
Combat was great, Maze Craze was my favorite (my dad hated it though) and I later found out that "Santa" had been up playing Space Invaders every night for several weeks before Christmas.;)
From there on I got games at a pretty slow trickle, which gave me the chance to really play the hell out of each game before moving onto another, which was actually really good. I'm sure my reading and troubleshooting skills went up because nobody told me how to play these things, I just got the manual and the game and dove into them.
Of course these weren't the most complex games in the world, but many of them weren't just arcade-twitchers, like Haunted House of which I have a great memory of my mom correcting my pronunciation of the word "urn" (the game has you retrieving three pieces of a "Magic Urn" and escaping) where not knowing any better I had been sounding it out more like "urine".:D
I still love to play video games, and fully intend to introduce my kids (if/when I have them) the same way, and see how they do. There are still many playable 2600 games (and even new ones!) if the graphics and sound don't put you off. (The first thing I hooked up to my new 36" Wega flatscreen when I got it was the 2600...)
I would admit that given even more development time than we had, one of the things we considered was different mini-games.
The original System Shock had several hacking mini games, two that I can remember were rewiring things so that there was a high enough power level and a connect the circuit game that looks very similar to the pipe game...
Had to share a similar story - we had some former neighbors over and convinced them to play Wii Sports Bowling.
One of the neighbors is in his 90's and is legally blind. He also used to bowl a lot. Guess who won?
We did set up shots for him (he said he stands a bit to the left of center) but aside from telling him how to bowl with the remote, that was it.
This is the only console my dad has purchased, he still on occasion tells me how happy he was to find one on the shelf at Walmart one day.
I'm waiting for all the arcade ports to come to the Wii.
Same here.
While some of the NES versions are OK, it just seems lazy for Nintendo to put them on the VC instead of the original arcade versions. (Presumably they are reusing the Gamecube NES emulator code...)
When Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn are waiting for the force fields to part, there could have been some dialog about the rivalry between the Sith and the Jedi, possibly referring to the prophecy about balance in the Force.
This was my favorite scene in the whole film, and I thought it was perfect.
Qui-Gon is patient and takes what rest he can, Obi-Wan is excited and anxious to continue and Darth Maul paces like a dog - showing a lot about each character w/out saying a word.
Elections like this have turned from voting for your favorite candidate to voting for who you dislike the least...
...and I seem to have made it OK in life.

If it doesn't come out you can always play Elebits...
The Wii is desperately missing a game like (or even a port of) Die By The Sword...

Doom and Doom II are both available on for the GBA, and quite playable! (Though it is not easy to find copies...)
I would love to play this game with the sword tracking the Wiimote...

I think that's what a previous poster was thinking about when he mentioned Japanese porn and de-pixelating... ;)
We need more kids games like Rocky's Boots and Robot Odyssey!
Have Played through GTA as well as Pokemons Blue, TCG, Fire Red & Sapphire. I've got a copy of Crystal, but haven't started it yet.
...and for $20 all the NWN packs on one DVD offer a hell of a lot of game, not mentioning all of the good stuff you can download and add to it...
Damnit, every time I see blurbs on this game I end up thinking of the old 16-bit Genesis title...

...how long will it be before official games attempt to "update" it?
I finally get a full set of USB CH gear to play MW4 with and...
MS stopped making them.
Where's MW5?Take Road Trip's RPG elements/world, add the MMO bits and feel from R&RR and you'd have a winner, IMHO.
...that you absolutely have to check the prices at Nook's every morning, and if you don't sell by the end of the week, they're useless! :p

Works for me.
...their VCR has died recently, and they haven't bothered to replace it!
...to just use one of those pools from Populous that converts people? ;)
Well then what about the Plus/4 with it's built in word processor, spreadsheet, database and graph generator? (albiet crappy ones... :p )
Alright, another fan of this game!
Aside from having to swap and wait for disk loads, this game was fantastic: good (for the time) graphics, non-linear gameplay, and multiple endings...
Guess I'll just have to stick to my e-Reader for that one (didn't make the GBA NES Classics series in the US either...)
