My roommate baught a pair of Vusix VR920 3 months ago and, realy these are crap. Screen quality is realy poor. Bad contrast, inaccurate color rendering, ridiculous small view angle 90Â; (need at least 120Â to provide immertion), poor nose handler design (can't stay on mine because it is too small and wrong angle). Should I add the poor ridiculous 640x480 resolution and no support for wide angle or anything like 16:10 or 16:9 formats.
Realy, 3D glasses manufacturers fucked the market with crap products for years. Who care to bring drivers for crap products?
Have a look at eBay for the load of used shutter glasses for sale.
My grandfather had such a fridge without a compressor. It had gaz evaporated by an electric heator. It was a small form factor (Kind of 50l), rounded corners and door.
In the early 80's, my uncle had a small fridge in his truck. It could be powered electrically 12v or by gaz. That worked by a heater device and no compressor.
ID CEO claims may carry some truths, but, for the least, it is as unbalanced as only enlightining the bright side of file sharing.
As a loyal ID Software customer, having baught every one of their games I play, all I can reply to them, is: Please dear brillant market aware ID CEO. Your wording hurt customers like me. Why do you spend time and money dealing with your non-customers, having such twisted juvenile words thrown as FUD in the wild?
It is sad I will have these awkward words in mind , the next time I plan on buying one of your upcomming games.
This things require root and I am not knoledgable enough to investigate the source code. As I have not suitable testing environment, I will have to wait trusting Ubuntu or Debian for a pre-packaged version.
I strongly advice you, non-techy, non-programmer to be patient and wait a bit your Linux distribution or vendor to provide a package.
Think of it, every small factor motherboard only provide 1 PCI slot and most only provide 1 ethernet port. I'll have to plug a side card, and do many hacks to add other hardwares : - Linux supported ADSL2+ PCI card or an USB ADSL2+ modem hacked to an internal USB port + rewiring power cables + rewiring DSL line to a custom internal splitter to share with analog modem. - FXS interface card (phone line) with hopefully embeded DSP to offload G729a/b CODEC from CPU + wiring FXS and analog modem togagher though a relay switch as pass through the analog line and through the splitter, so to have phone calls through to the analog line in case DSL or SIP is unavailable. - Wifi PCI interface or internal USB wired WIFI thumb + hack of an antenna outside the box (unless the box is not metal and allow radio signals though) - PCI or serial or USB analog modem + hacking line wiring with the ADSL2+ modem though a splitter and adding an RJ11 connector to the box.
It is a theorically doable home-made assembly. Free Proxad ISP here in France has done this precise all in one small-factor box with their Freebox. By the way, this is a lot of engineering for one casual home hacker. Hacking such a box myself means several months work, and surely will cost much more than buying dedicated seperate equipment devices.
Add FXS interfaces and use it as an SIP to Analog phone gateway.
I'm still looking for a device capable of ADSL + router + wireless + IPv6 + SIP(G729)FXS + USB Printserver, NAS + gigabit ethernet + backup Analog modem on the same line socket as ADSL (internal splitter), in a single box without having to use an ISP custom box. I want my SIP gateway not owned by my ISP. I want native IPv6 wan, routing and filtering. I do not want that cludge of multiple sucking power adaptors and boxes. Please, just one consistant device.
That compagny don't implement phone home on Cedega, but you have to own a valid active account for upgrades.
By the way, they have not much enhanced their software during the last two years. Now a day, I can get much working games with the open source Wine than with Cedega. Their support forums are full of angry customers leaving the ship.
Even though I pay a monthly subscription since at least four years, I slowly consider ending that because every new game I install, has better performance and much less trouble with the plain Wine software environment that with the commercial Cedega. The last one is Everquest II Runes of Kunark pack.
Hey guys from Transgaming, wake up! Please do the job I pay you for. Fix these bugs and support at the very least, same level of quality than in the open source Wine.
I had this precise idea months ago. Would it be practical to use neutrinos to establish communication links across Earth?
Even if detectors are huge, even if we have yet to invent modulable neutrino emitters. This would provide direct point to point links with shorter distance and lattency than relying on cables across surface or satellite.
Yesterday, I wrote to PC World Customer Service about this issue (see below).
Here is the answer:

Be sure it will be crippled so channels not willing to let your record or transmit via network will be blocked for that.
I just ordered a DreamBox DM7025 (waiting for it in 2 to 3 weeks) with two DVB-S (satellite) tuners. This one run with VDR and Linux. It can't do HD video but, well there are so few or interrestings ones in here... And the DreamBox is will not block anything. If I can view a channel, I can record and broadcast it to my LAN via standard protocols and codecs to use with VideoLan.
What you suggest is enforcing your own cultural vision and values though massive and anoying spam. This is violent and inappropriate.
Having stong enough self awareness and values on what's good, or right or meaningfull regarding our own cultural reference may make you stronger.
Perpetual vigilence is requiered to defend and preserve our liberties.
I don't think this has to be faught outside... Unless you intend to bring in your onw interests in the load. History, past and current is full of this. One group, government, find self good reasons to fight against another group or state because it believe it has self rights, power and interests in doing so.
But, as usual, real society improvments, progress comres from the inside. If chinese think having limited access to the net, and beying jailed by their government is bad enough, they will fight it from the inside. I believe they will do it more appropriately and in conformance to their cultural values and references. Not yours or mine nor anyboty from the outside.
What would you think about the chinese, the russians or the europeans, or the africans... jamming your local network policies, endlessly critisizing your government, down valuing your own abilities to defend yourself or define yourself whats right, whats good...?
This is some cultural violence for the least.
Truly, I hope chinese will find themselves the way they'd like to go. I wouldn't want my own government going theyr ways and would be happy for them if it could or would work there more as it is in my own country. But, I know very little about chineses, and there are probably many reasons I ignore about what makes their government work the way it does. I guess sincerely they are the most aware and able to instituates changes if they feel they need to.
Typography was invented centuries ago and address readability of printed text with tightly defined and long time experienced rules.
It's surprising some "researcher" try reinventing the wheel.
If screen displays and web designs made proper use of CSS, following the long time improved rules of typography, there would be less desperate readers in hope of someone reinventing the wheel.
If you account the bandwidth required to feed all that graphic data between a computer and the print device and the power required to process all that data from a print dialect to colored dots and driving the internal printer mechanics, it makes me very skeptical.
Segmented memory is not needed for 3D or even 4D adress space:
32bit address bus can be divided in 4D 8bit axises a.b.c.d. IPv4 is a 4D address space:)
Any address bus size can be arbitrary sliced in whatever bit fields, addressing several dimensions/space. Computation penalities applies on non byte/word bondaries though. It depend on chip architecture but spatial chip layout has little to do with that.

Seems an obvious patent

From the Editor's short summary, without actual references to the patent text, it look like a very obvious patent again. Text to speech applyed to menu navigation. Nothing new here.
So true! People who seek valuable documentation still have to spend much time searching the web and talk with the community. Actual ubuntu documentation is mostly immature or incomplete. Ubuntu realy evolve quite fast and I guess it is very hard for the community to keep up with up to date and coherent informations. Printed support is static by nature. That won't help it beying up to date. If you look at ubuntu server documentation you will see it is mostly pointless. If you need documentation to setup usable servers you won't find anything usefull in it. If you quite know a bit, there is nothing usefull in it either. But I can't rant about it. Ubuntu is free as in speech and free as in beer... WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Give to the community).
I ought to know who realy need printed docs for ubuntu, realy!
Unless there is some light focussing organ/device over light sensitiv cells, like the eye structure focussing light to the retina, there is little use of sensing bare ambiant light with random unsorted photons. Skin tissue is able to sense infrared light, but it can hardly distinguish direction, wavelength or shapes from that. While Re/enabling visible light sensitivity to a deffective retina do bring hopes of some possible blindness cures, this will have no effect on other eye deffects/illnesses of the optical kind.
Things with no price have no interrest and no value
When potatoes went to France, nobody cared or wanted to eat that strange thing. Then, Parmentier had a brilliant idea. He put a threatening sign on a field where potatoes where grown. Promising heavy punishment for who would stole it.
Then, every night, growing potatoes where effectively stolen and people gained appreciation and taste for thhe new vegetable.
Let people steal the valuable OSS sotfwares, even publish heavy threats to who may steal it and you will see people loving pirated OSS and gaining interrest to OSS at all.

Hopefully Quark should not grab that very dangerous particle for huge profit.

Cutting on the analog hole.
Same HD crapware with sole goal of rebranding DRM.
Please provide proper definition of Computer
Then provide proper definition of using a Computer.
Better off forbid use of electricity because it was used to commit a crime.

It realy is a technical solution to a social problem.
Technocal solution:
Provide HDMI connectivity.
Social problem:
Can't watch all the legal stuff I have valid licenses for.
That's bad.
