You should install Swype! It's no longer being updated, so it won't re-add your deletions, and contrary to what the title says, it's still available in the play store.

  10. Cameras and scanners can be replaced. They are usually just plugged into a USB port. There would be no reason to scrap the entire computer.

Maybe they use some proprietary data interface card that is only available in an ISA or PCI format, and modern systems don't support those kinds of slots.

I don't know if I would trust two morning-show goofballs to scientifically demonstrate this non-cheese melting phenomenon. They are using a candle that was nearly flooded with its own melted wax. The flame was already on the verge of going out on its own when they smothered it with the cheese. When they used a lighter flame, they couldn't manage to keep it in one place for more than a second. There was no indication of how cold the cheese was to start with.

Of course, if you put the flame under a pan, and leave it there for several minutes, I bet you could melt the cheese in the pan, and I'm sure the cheese melts in the microwave.

  15. What are you doing? on HomePod Repairs Cost Almost as Much as a New HomePod (theverge.com) · · Score: 0

What are you doing with your Homepod that it needs repair? It just sits on a table in the corner. It should be out of the way so you don't spill water on it. You won't be moving it around every day, so there should be no physical wear and tear. Plug it into a surge suppressor to protect the electronics from transient electrical surges. Don't keep it under a bell jar... that could cause heat to build up, and would also impede the microphone and speaker.

If Apple did their job right, it shouldn't need repair. Of course if it contains any electrolytic capacitors, then they can age and dry out, but it should at least last 10 years. By that time, you would want the Homepod Pro Plus Mini anyway.

  16. Nobody said the phone should be waterproof. Electronics should ALWAYS be kept away from water.

It's *NOT* hard to prevent the mechanical force from damaging the board. They could do what some laptop makers have done with their power jacks: Mount the jack to the case, and then run wires/cable to the board.
How much more room would that take up? Maybe an additional centimeter in phone length? I think that's acceptable.
