I question the "reliabilty" statement on the Lynx. I had an original Atari Lynx (circa 1989) up until 2 years ago. It held up great (for over 10 years)!
Road Blasters on the Lynx in 1990 beat the Game Boy hands down. Xybots rocked too.
Too bad the Tramiels were to cheap to really advertise and promote Lynx the way it deserved.
We (the USA) are now experiencing a new era in our society. I refer to it as "Cannibalistic Capitalism." Company profits can't get any higher via production, so we elminate jobs (or reduce the costs of employment). This results in high unemployment but companies are still doing well with increased profits. Thus, eating our own economy to fuel our economy.
This coupled with the much higher costs of living (housing, utilities, food, and etc.), high credit debt, and Bush want to bring in immigrants to fill American jobs (im-sourcing) leads me to believe that some serious social engineering is at work.
Corporate America wants us to be endentured slaves. Never getting out of debt because of our low paying jobs. "The company" wants our undying devotion because it's the only job we could get to live. It's their way or starvation.
Or, there's at least 100,000 fools in Japan who are quickly parted with their money.
This won't sell in the US. Space isn't as much of a concern here as it is in Japan. People will buy separate components in they are cheaper and they won't re-buy a PS2 if they already have one.
I have both an XBox and a GC. Had a PS2 but got rid of it when I realized that the GC was graphically and gameplay wise better.
I love the fact that most GC games (especially those from produced by Nintendo) support 480p. Heck, launch games like "Luigi's Mansion" and "Rogue Squadron" were 480p from the start. Also, the Wavebird is the best wireless controller hands down.
I attribute the PS2 success to backward compatability and the Microsoft Windows "me too" effect. Ironic that Microsoft is being beaten by their own strategy.
The Dreamcast was great system that just couldn't make inroads against the Sony marketing behemoth. And now, with the Sammy acquisition in play, it looks like Sega is going the way of Atari.
6) More durable than most of the Kennedys 7) John Hinkley Jr.'s favorite Christmas present. 8) It takes a licking and keeps on clicking. 9) Vin Diesel is XXXBox 10) Ohio drivers prefer the XBox.

Stargate (aka Defender II)
Jungle Hunt
Pengo
Mr. Do's Castle
Kangaroo
to name a few...
Actually, it was programmed in platform independent Java.
Because it's such and "old guy" thing to say.
Loved it in 1981. Still love it via MAME today.
Some other favorites:
Star Trek: Strategic Command Simulator
Mr. Do
Super Pac-Man
Time Pilot
Commando
They'll never get old to me.
Now, that was one cool Lucasfilm game.

Wake up America!

The US is more price conscious than you realize.
Been doing for over 10 years now. And, I am still walking around.
34 years of age or counting...
God, those off key tones when you started that game still send chillis down my spine.
I prefer Atari 7800 Ballblazer's nostalgic rockin' track.
Actually, according to the DMCA, it is illegal for you to circumvent the activation scheme.
Not that I disagree with you, I hate activation too...
How about ditching M$ and installing Linux. Or better yet, just buy a Mac. Neither require activation.
Probably, just mad because he can't trade in his "Thiller", "Bad", and "Dangerous" CDs for the GTA double pack.
Consumers will buy new players, but they won't buy new DVD collections.
Amen. Somebody had to say it.
And, damn if Liberty City (GTA3) doesn't look my town Philadelphia.
Most of the games detect the component cable and ask you prior to starting up "Do you want to run in progressive scane mode: Yes / No ?".
There a quite a few titles that don't support 480p on the XBox (including DOA3).
Mostly all of the Game Cube games support 480p.
You can set your Xbox to 480p, but that doesn't mean the game will be 480p. If it's not 480p, than you are seeing 480i instead.
You know your in 480p on the cube, because the games ask you to switch before they boot. And, you can see the difference!
It's a "Festivus" miracle!

I do love the anthology, but, the emulation is somewhat slow.
I mean games like H.E.R.O. (my personal favorite) and Pitfall! make the slowdown quite noticable.
I thought the GBA would be fast enough to handle Atari 2600 at %100 speed.
It's "iPod" not "IPOD".
That coupled with your rambling treatise shows me that you reallly have no idea about what's going on.
Let's tell some truth shall we...
Panther Fast User Switching was borrowed from Microsoft (Jobs even said it at WWDC).
Also, guess where Panther's Finder got Image previews from?
Face it, they steal from each other. Apple just happens to have the majority of original ideas.
The Dreamcast was great system that just couldn't make inroads against the Sony marketing behemoth. And now, with the Sammy acquisition in play, it looks like Sega is going the way of Atari.
Oh, how the great ones have fallen...
Actually that was "Galactica 80", and boy, was it baaaaad!
:-)
I saw BSG when it was first run... I was 8 or 9 then...

I thought Steve (with the a lot of behind the scenes help from Woz) helped create Breakout for Atari.
Strange... All iPods have the Breakout game in them.
Yes, there may be some connection.
