I agree. They did this with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (which SUCKED compared to other FF series games) as well.
I probably won't buy another Nintendo because of this. They make great games, but having to purchase Gameboys to play multiplayer GameCube cames is just play stupid.

Some games like Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance (I & II) are fun, but can be beat in one or two rental periods ($12 where I'm at for 10 days). That's WAY less than $50.
Other games I just wait a few months till they are ~$20-$30 and get them used.
Absolutely. I hope the cost isn't $5/channel, but I'de really like to be able to get the sci-fi channel w/out having to upgrade to the $50/month package as well...

Because they are getting money through licensing the technology. This is EXACTLY what they should have done with the MacOS back in the 80's. I bet deals like this could cement iTunes as the premier online music store platform.
Does your friend run Linux on it? If so what distro(s) and how well does it work. What is the performance like? Those lifebooks look really nice, especially with the transmeta chips...
Asprin will help you beat it. That's how I did it. Just take a couple a day around when you normally drink soda. If you get a headache take an extra one. Slowly taper off the Aprin and you'll be over soda within a week or so...
You should also bookmark contribs.org if you want to do anything with E-smith. It's the community support site. It started rather recently so it's a bit sparce now, but I'm sure it will pick up as people join.

To upgrade to the 2.6 kernel you need follow the upgrade procedure. Be sure to read about it before you do it or you won't have too much luck.

The gamecube has been midly successfully. It has backwards compatability with gameboy games.
Not that this is too important, but I found it interesting that Bill Gates owns Corbis... (see this month's forbes magazine)
Because they need to leverage their Operating system monopoly to take over in other areas.. (i.e. Browser, Media Player/Codecs)

I think that it's ibuprofen that causes kidney damage. ALWAYS read the lable. Using a usual dosage of asprin for a week won't cause any problems.

I completely agree with you... two of my favorite specialized distributions are:
E-Smith - Small business server/gateway. Allows VERY easy setup of samba shares and a few other things through a web based control panel.
and
IPCop - Firewall distro that is only 20MB!
