I guess it's time to consider the replay 5xxx series dead now. Tivo finally has everything that made replay special. With no new developments on the horizon from Replay I guess it's time to say R.I.P.
Replay TV 5xxx series 2003-2004
P.S. May you be reborn in a 6xxx series with support for viewing ALL media formats available on your network. Including documents.
I think it's time to come with catchphrases for new slashdot products. Slashdot, Beolwolf clustering always available. With a name like Slashdot, You know it's been hacked. Slashdot, if you haven't heard of it, you don't deserve to use it. Slashdot, now with OGG support in every product. Slashdot, if this is the first time you've used our product, you will be ridculed. Slashdot, your source for open source from the source.
The inovative part of the technology is that you can watch LIVE television from somewhere else in the world at excellent quality. Who though, actually needs their programs live? If I'm in London and my computer in New York has The Apprentice on at 9pm EST. I am not going to watching that show live. I will be asleep. I can watch it when I get up in the morning. There are many easy cheaper solutions for getting prerecorded shows transferred over the internet. The only thing this is really good for is people who have to watch xyz show RIGHT NOW! Nice try, but it's not going to fly.
The real question for me is, "Why not put a hard drive / 1GB built in memory in a pocket pc?" Yes I can put a microdrive and fill my CF slot. But why not just build it in. Space is not the problem, because they make 1 GB SD cards that are down to $70 now. So it's not a price problem either. Why, ohh why can't the just put a built in 1 GB SD card some inside it, or a 4 GB Microdrive?
That's why I havent' upgraded to this phone. I want my phones address book to sync with my bluetooth handheld. This this happens, I stay with the old phone.
So from what he's saying about this device compared to his Ipaq. We would be better off to just buy a pocket pc since it's got a better screen, faster processor, and is a lot more useful.
Now all I need is either a 20gb cf drive or a portable drive sleeve. Anyone looking to make a killer add on for an ipaq, give me a 200gb drive sleeve with a video out that I can attach and use to make my ipaq a better version of the PMC.
Here in Washington DC I know lots of people who will live as far away from the city as public transporation allows. We have people who commute from WV, DE, and PA. These people can take trains that get them to work in the same amount of time it take me to take the farthest out bus I could find.
If there were sky(car\bus\taxis) that allowed us to travel quickly (including time to board) and cheaply (No more than $10 a day) then I know that I for one would gladly move further into the wilderness where I could take an hour flight to work.
And I think my live would be better off by living farther out.
This was really interesting the first time I saw it during last summer's blackout of the north east. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out which major cities should be lit up but weren't. With everyone's lights on, it' just not as interesting.
This is why VoIP is suggested to be before your router. If it's the first thing conected to your DSL/CABLE it can decide how much of the bandwidth it needs and then let the rest of it pass to the rest of your computers. If it is after your router then it has to fight with all the rest of the gear for it's bandwidth. So far though even though I make it fight for it's bandwidth, it's never lost. Vonage is an undefeated bandwidth prize fighter. Of course my D-Link router is an excellent referee.
There is actually a very good medical application to this. Currently the only way to detect breast cancer is through self exam and follow up radiology. If this can do subsurface mapping as shown in the article, then it should be able to detect lumps beneath the surface of the skin. No longer will you have have try to remember whether the breasts felt exactly like that before or not. With this technology just the feel alone will tell you that it is cancer.
Whether it works on not, I willing to help test.
The sun is a mass of incandescent gas
A gigantic nuclear furnace
Where hydrogen is built into helium
At a temperature of millions of degrees
Yo ho, it's hot, the sun is not
A place where we could live
But here on Earth there'd be no life
Without the light it gives
We need its light
We need its heat
We need its energy
Without the sun, without a doubt
There'd be no you and me
The sun is a mass of incandescent gas
A gigantic nuclear furnace
Where hydrogen is built into helium
At a temperature of millions of degrees
The sun is hot
It is so hot that everything on it is a gas: iron, copper, aluminum, and many others.
The sun is large
If the sun were hollow, a million Earths could fit inside. And yet, the sun is only a middle-sized star.
The sun is far away
About 93 million miles away, and that's why it looks so small.
And even when it's out of sight
The sun shines night and day
The sun gives heat
The sun gives light
The sunlight that we see
The sunlight comes from our own sun's
Atomic energy
Scientists have found that the sun is a huge atom-smashing machine. The heat and light of the sun come from the nuclear reactions of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and helium.*

As a DC commuter, there are thousands of us who take the train and/or bus each day. Some of us are even traveling for up to three hours one way. On average I spend two hours each day on the bus. That's a lot of time that I could count as "work" time if I could have a cheap internet connection. There are cellular options, but we're talking about a lot of money for Joe Worker to browse/. I'd be especially insterested in VoIP instead of having to use my cell phone while I'm stuck in traffic.
Vonage - Because you have a choice.
This has always been a problem for us loyal Replay owners. It sounds super dumb to say I ReplayTVed it or I PVRed it. Yet I Tivoed it. Makes perfect sense for some reason.
I try to explain to my friends what it is without saying Tivo and they just don't get it. As soon as I say it's like a Tivo, but much better. Then they suddenly understand.

Gives new meaning to windows crashing.
Let me quote from their current website. Refurbished PS2 $199.99. Nintendo DS $299.99. Here's the real crime.
I think the answer is obvious. It won't be a phone with a camer slapped on. It will be a camera with a phone slapped on of course.

Itchy and Scratcy!
Yeah, but my ReplayTV does and it's wonderful.
MMMM Precious Gummy. Bring Meijer to Maryland.
After reading the article, I think people will most be afraid of TROGDOR!!!

It's a simple matter of usage. If you don't use something, it can stay like new forever. If you use it a lot then it will get worn out.
That's why I havent' upgraded to this phone. I want my phones address book to sync with my bluetooth handheld. This this happens, I stay with the old phone.
This time we don't have to imagine what a cluster would be like. It's already in the box!

Sorry mom, I was busy cleaning the rain forest.

What's there to do in Delaware? Yet, people still go there.
Dammit, why didn't I look there. I thought the game was so dumb because you couldn't even get in the house. Live and learn I guess.
Man, I wish I was kidding about never getting in the house.
