Can you name a league that plays the game at a level comparable to the NFL? Otherwise the description is apt.
Whether another leage comparable to the NFL exists or not is not the issue. The fact that the only teams they ever play against are fellow NFL teams, and never others. How do they know they are world champions if they never travel to any other place on earth that plays the sport to test themselves?

This is where rugby, soccer, cricket and dozens of other sports trump most US sports. They have actual world cups, with teams from all over the world competing. The only time you see combined US teams is at the Olympics, and then only Basketball and Baseball (Ice Hockey at winter olympics). Did you see the last Olympics? Team USA Basket Ball got their asses handed to them at the start before clawing back for bronze, hardly world champions, and Team USA for Baseball didnt even make it to the olympics.

The only time you can legitimately call yourself world champions is if you actually take on teams from around the globe and win.

Probably, except the one difference is my cellphone is used exclusivly for what it was made to do. If you own a PSP and spend most of your travel time using the gaming function, your going to be up the creek if you try to use it as your phone as well, unless you can plug it in and charge it throughout the day

Perhaps, but i can bet you 5 bucks that none of them will be anywhere near as good as a standalone device, that and you will look like a right royal dickhead holding your PSP to your head.

Also, if they do all that, they had want to come out with a battery that lasts longer. 5-6 hours at best is low already for a portable device, and if you actually use it for gaming and watching movies, it will be near useless as a cellphone replacement. The battery in my current mobile (Motorola A900) barely lasts 12 hours after a full nights charge, and i find that appalling. Id hate to replace my phone with a PSP that has half of that battery life.

    Games: $80ish
Avaliability: No idea. Sony hasnt given a firm date for release in Australia that i have seen

So 150-200 more for a system that gives me games that take ages to load and gives me a whole host of features i have no interest in using compared to the DS that has exactly what im looking for, a huge range of games i can already play (GBA backwards compatibility) and some awesomely fun release titles that use the touchscreen.

I think i spent my $200 well. 400 bucks isnt cheap, no matter which way you look at it.

Games are reviewed by people who want to review games. If someone on your staff is a football fan, you're going to give them NFL 2K4 to review. If they love FPS games, they get the new Half-Life. Neither of these reviews will reflect the opinion of the person sitting on the fence wondering what to buy. How will that guy who has played every other Legacy of Kain game to death feel about the new one? Why, he'll love it, and give it a 9.7. Greatest Game Ever. This, of course, doesn't really help anyone.
This isnt always true. In australia, theres a games mag called PCPowerPlay. While i havnt read it in about 6 or 7 months, there seemed quite unbiased in their reviews and previews. I can recall quite a few games where they have had a preview and were really impressed, then when they got to review a gold version, the game got a less than impressive score.

If somethings crap, they have no problem with digging into the developers, no matter who they are. Might have gone to shit in the last 8 months though, not sure.

How can you really blame Bioware for the game engine not being fully D&D 3.x compliant when they started (and most likely finished) the core of the combat engine before the 3E rules were finalised and released to the public? Remember, they started work on NWN not long after Baldurs Gate One was released. That also explains why the graphics do look a little dated.

Liberties have to be taken when your basing your combat on rules that havnt yet been set in stone.

I reckon your spot on about D&D games fading too. Wizards need to be a bit more open with their licensing scheme. Game makers need freedom, not set in iron restrictions.
