Since when do PC specs have anything to do with console? Compare the specs of any console to a high end PC of the time and the PC is going to be more powerful, because it is a general computing machine with tons of hardware options. With a console you can optimize code much better because it is always the same hardware. I thought this was like Gaming 101???
I agree with what you are saying. Part of what made silent hill more creepy was that you were all alone, usually in the dark or fog. I think Silent Hill 2 would definately translate the best into a movie, but they would probably throw in a constant side kick, at worst, a comic relief side kick...
I wish that certain movies would cost less than others. If less advertised, lower budget movies cost say $6 instead of $9 they could probably get more people to see it (and have more refreshment sales and the possibility to generate more buzz). I mean, why does the movie that cost 20 million to make and little marketing cost as much as the 150 million budgeted marketed to death movie cost the same?
I have a Comcast Motorola box with HDTV and DVR and it is currently plugged into my TV via DVI. If you turn the power off on the box, then hit the "Menu" button on the remote you can have some more advanced output settings. I know some people have said that the DVI port is disabled on these boxes, but I have had 2 of these boxes in the city of Chicago (so I dont know if it is a regional comcast thing) and both had DVI out enabled.
Does anyone see this as the same mistake they made with the Gamecube and online play? The GC having no online play hurts it marginally, but it is a segment of people that are more the type who play (and buy) loads of games. This is a segment they should try to make happy. I don't think the HD will hurt the Revolution much, but I think they are making a mistake. They have stated the the Revolution will have more online games, so I don't know if that is admiting they messed up with GC or that they think online games are coming in to prime. I would think it was a mistake.
That doesn't mean overall Linux use is slowing. The survey only shows that a smaller number of companies not using Linux plan to try the software than in previous surveys.
Uhh.. right. So the the survey shows less linux use, but that might not be true because the survey might be wrong. Is that what this line is implying??? OK so you've just established the survey is worthless? Or only when linux use goes down?
Back in the Doom days, almost any PC purchased "new" after 1995-96 could play Doom. Sure more RAM would help, but it could still run it well enough to enjoy. Now you can buy a brand new PC from Dell that comes with an intergrated graphics chip that might not even run modern games.
My guess is no or limited backwards compatilibity. I think if it was fully backward compatible they would have annouced it around their craptastic MTV launch. My guess is they want to hold off on the backwards compatibily annoucement as long as possible so it doesn't take down any of the buzz until enough has been generated that it won't make a big impact. Hell, they might even wait until preorders are in before annoucing it. At best they might have backwards compatibilty for new games that used a certain SDK and did not use any customized code. Just a guess.
Do you remember every comment you made to anyone 5 years ago? This could be a get out of jail free card for a lucky few!
A positive quote about SCO in 2000? I don't know what you are talking about! RETRACT IT!
OTA? I'm not up to speed on that. If it means Off The Air then I'm not impressed. If you had cable you wouldn't need to get anything off the air. I guess if you wanted to record 2 cable shows and two local channels at the same time it would be cool, but still not worth the price of that box.
You mean the only TiVo box to that? The motorola HDTV+DVR box I have from Comcast has dual HD tuners. The interface is not as pretty as TiVo but for $10 a month and no upfront cost it has exceeded my expectations. I am not a big TV watcher so the 80 gigs is enough for me. The upfront cost for that 1 HDTV TiVo box would be insane for someone like me.
Yeah, and the images are even water marked as if he didn't want anyone copying them! I did enjoy reading a few of these, I loved them when I was a kid.
I posted about this is a similar slashdot posting... but here we go. I'm not sure where you got the NES games costing $60/$70, but I do remember Genesis and SNES games costing that much. I would say that $70 for Street Fighter II for SNES was worth the price. $70 for Strider for Genesis was fair, and it is a matter of opinion if $80 for Phatasy Star 4 was reasonable. Yes, the argument was for the ROMs being larger, but I don't know if that is the real reason why. Anyway, compared to other games at the when SF2 for SNES came out, it was amazing. An almost perfect translation from the arcade. If they can release games that blew me away as much as SF2 for SNES back in the day, they can charge $70 for a game today. Unfortuantely, I don't think that will be the case.
Don't worry, I'm sure there are plenty of other epic and exciting Gamecube games to fill the void between RE4 and when this new Zelda gets released. Please respond to this post with the names, like I said, I'm SURE they are out there. I'm just not sure what they are called.
Some states, like Iowa, do require a license to sell drugs. They don't issue them, but use it to increase penalities and fines without having to change those pesky, already written, laws.
Am I the only one who remembers when Strider for Genesis was and Street Fighter II for SNES was $70? Yes, they were cartridges and you could argue now that were more expensive than CD/DVDs to produce. The best bargain has got to PC games, price usually drops in half in 6-12 months. After 18-24 months they cost $20.
I'm guessing they would make the argument that they already offer you email and web hosting as part of their service. Maybe they'll try the same thing for VoIP - with of a 10 megs of included web hosting space they give X megs of transfer time over a VoIP port. But then they would have to get into the business of VoIP -- so they might as well try to block it.
How many times is this FUD example going to come up? Yes, it is possible this will happen. But I have a feeling if this type of situation arose, Valve would release a non-steam patch before totally going out of business. Yes Steam authenication sucks, and I hope someone does sue them to prove that I did, in fact, buy that game, not just a license to play by their rules. But I would bet cash that if there was a steam doomsday, there would be a non-steam patch release.

Yes, and the same goes for Might and Magic IX.

In soviet russia, dumpster rescues you!... or how about... saved from the dumpster, slashdotted to hell!!
Rob King has done excelent music in Might and Magic VI, VII, and VIII as well. Highly recommended just for the music if you can find it.

You're not a techie until you've posted a system on a motherboard box
The only movie this guy should be directing is a movie version of Daikatana

Unfortuantely what you are saying here could be applied to just about anything except for basic food, water, and shelter.
Will it leave it's post to find Sarah Conner?
