Lotus notes is what my little corner of the world uses. It runs perfectly fine. Wish it was open source solution, but then again it doesn't kill me to pay people once and awhile. In all seriousness there should be a open source app that can maigrate with all of these systems. Accept outlook/Lotus Notes/ical/etc invitations. It is almost like this open software should perhaps set a standard invitation format. But hey I stopped writting code now i just watch other people pull their hair out.
Colleges are a place where the internet is at it's backbone. Colleges are where it is easy to see what a population wants and desires. I know this view is not popular among most big artists. But maybe these artists shouldn't be making millions apon millions. And this confrentation of the peoples will and the ability of technology is where the showdown is being made. I love live theater, but I cannot imagine that it is as large of a business as it was in 1904, prior to TV and Film. We cannot fight the movement of technology by slaying the broadcast studios.
Internet2 is the future for connectivity. The bandwidth allotment is not a questionable option it will happen. The telco's cannot control the rest of the world, we are lagging behind others in overall bandwidth but that is only due to our outdated infastructure. Give the people their bandwith and they will trade music and videos. The money needs to be made in another method.
This is only a issue because the people do not agree with the situation and how it is beind handled.
If this project disappears then it will be a huge step backwards for digital multimedia. On every system I use this is one of the first packages I install. One cannot trust quicktime or windows media players.
it is semi odd that Europe is anti media players in Windows, and then they are threatening to slay free media players. Seams like a double standard.
http://www.eff.org/radioeff/ I remember the panels on this site to be really informative and interesting. They have failed to update it recently which is depressing but what is there is quite nice. I figure who ever was responsible for making the recordings most likely graduated or stopped being allowed to record the discussions. Disappointing. Enjoy!
he's not applying for goverment loans, just asking for support from slashdot.. which no one should do a job they hate. So... his decision was justified. but hey i run a hosting company that sells accounts for $1/mo... and unlike other companies.. I don't have a business plan... and i actually don't lie.. so i find it to be a decent setup.
DRM is a joke, there will always be a way to work around it. At least as long as we are able to interact with the existance of the media. We might need 60^2 monkeys that are able to draw a frame every min. But so be it me and my monkeys will take our flip books of hollywood blockbusters right to the library! (The true crime is getting a parrot to sound like will smith.. Dam'ed)
This seams like a good fluff by orbitz. I doubt we will ever see it hit the edges of a court. There is no way you can restrict peoples' ability to link.
your statement is very controversial, you have totally ignored the fact that roads need to be built on property. Personally, I am very glad I80 was built. but i suppose if we all rode horses and bitched and moaned about property being bought up our lives would be better off.
Maybe i'm wrong but isn't this the exact type of cases the EFF loves to fight?. here we have a small electronic company who is getting beaten up by larger lawyer driven companies.
Personally, i don't see a shred of evidence or a claim of breaking the law in the material i browsed. Providing links is a far ways off to distributing content. I think it would be intresting to see this one fought out because it's an obvious scare tactic.
"A photo of this had already leaked out about a week ago, but iRiver's new H10 MP3 player just got all official on us. Right now there's only mention of a Korean release (it goes on sale there December 22nd with a list price of about US$344, which is way too high for over here), but everything is about like we'd expected: 5GB hard drive, 1.5-inch color screen (for looking at digital photos), built-in FM radio, 12 hour battery life, and a vertical touch pad that's "reminiscent" of the one found on Creative's Zen Touch (and let's just leave it at that, ok?)." it says 5gb.. so quit your bitching;) besides isn't the smallest ipod 10 gb? this is not a big deal nor a contender for the ipod spot
set all of the computers to be their foreign langauge. So that when they go to use a computer it will always require them to use their knowlege. Computers are only tools, in school we have to learn how to use our mind as a usefull transparent tool By forcing the students to use their foreign language they will understand things better and quicker.;)
I agree with your point of view. To often is our legal system thrown out of the reality of life by things they just view as being too large. You say "The Internet", when really this incident did not have a single aspect of the internet it was all corperate networks, That sound horribily unsecure and asking to get messed with. You could blame the store for having a broadcasting wireless network (it's like a neon sign above their open loading dock full of product). While stealing is wrong, and their goal was illegal, we should not forget the failures of the company and how they are being overlooked just because these people got jail time. Will this stop war driving? no because it's not illegal. it's public airwaves, the currupt Fcc told me so.
have ever happened to innocent till proven guilty? Because as it appears from that article, they provided a means, that is not commiting a crime.
Ford Motor company created a efficent fast self contained escape vehicle. Yet, BP is not sueing Ford for all of the robberies that take place with cars as the transportation vehicle. This whole issue seams very disorted by those who have links into media?(just a thought)
Jabber (open source solution), i for one love the features of jabber and i am waiting for aol todo something stupid like charging their users. And then jabber will rule the day.

Side note this image typing stuff super sucks.

This paper looks almost exactly like
one of the randomly generated research papers
i got from that MIT research groups website..
(Questions...)
I passed the randomly generated paper around campus to a bunch of C.S. kids and they all bought it without thinking.. Quite amusing...

I dare not even use spell check on slashdot,

In the article it blames these people for the crime. Not accessory to a crime. They(corperations) seam to want the moderators to pay for damages.

This seams a lot more useful than my current endevor!.

if we do this enough times it would suck to have to write recursive dos attacks.
