Actually, the standard right wing Christian viewpoint is extremely concise... for sexually reproducing organisms, life begins at conception, the union of a sperm and egg. That's when GOD puts the soul in there. So a woman's menstrual cycle is not murder, as the egg is not alive at that point.
The conjoined egg and sperm don't always find a spot to attach to the uterus. If they haven't done so by the time menstruation begins guess what... they pass right on out. So if there was a life beginning, and the hardcore "life starts at conception" people have their way, women can be considered murderers simply for bleeding healthy blood. That's f'd up, yo.
I'm glad your comment was directed toward the news media concerns. Mine was an attempt to ask you and others what would happen to everyone else.
Since you are focused on the media, what would happen if there were less footage shot by people who just happened to be at the scene of whatever qualifies as breaking news? Even if the unprofessional footage isn't worth a broadcast, reporters can still watch the event through an unbiased recording and report on something more consistent/reliable than eye-witness accounts.
The people I know who played Pac-Man despise modern games for lack of gameplay. They see graphics as a secondary feature.
The people who watched people playing Pac-Man might not care about the gameplay aspect, and might well be impressed by the pretty pictures. The grandparent has a point.
So making any reasonably reliable recording would require having the money to buy Professional equipment? No more home movies if you wanted to be sure you could have a copy of a whole event? It's not often that you can control every sound in the background of a recording.
Without exception the worst drivers I have ever seen are preoccupied to distraction.
Period. Regardless of the means of distraction. I've seen equally bad driving from people on cell phones, digging through purses/briefcases, trying to recover something from the floor of their car, and focusing out of any car window on something that isn't the traffic ahead.
So they found one alive and... killed it. That's helpful. I'm sure they can learn fascinating things by studying one that was recently alive, but there's got to be a better way.
I'm suddenly reminded of the mistakes poster on despair.com. "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others." I think that if kids are learning from having such a large portion of the population screw up around them, at least there's some benefit to it. I actually find it comforting that there's a good side in there somewhere.:-)
Foregoing the impulse buy might not cause spontaneous fortune, but it will help you keep hold of what you have, so that you still have it (and can get returns on it) in the future.
Not that I'm disagreeing with the assertions made in the article (I only read through the short one), but was anyone else reminded of the father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding?
One thing I always wonder is how on earth do the respective captors reach their dungeons without constantly having to battle giant bats and rats etc.? And wouldn't a simple staircase coupled with a door and a good padlock be easier and more secure?
I think the reason you have to fight your way out of the prison/dungeon through monster-filled caverns is to avoid the heavily guarded normal entrance.. you know, the one with stairs and padlocks. Maybe that's just me, though:-)
One of the problems with inundating your body with proteins is that your kidneys are stuck trying to filter the unused bits out. This makes it a lot harder for them to filter everything else, too - including uric acid. I'd be more concerned about the risk of kidney failure than gout.
I once wrote a little bit more about why it's bad to cut out carbs so much. It's over here: http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=148166&cid=124 21923. The offer to explain why removing any main nutrient group would be a bad idea still stands.
New players get almost nothing from it as far as I can tell.
Actually, new players can use the turn-ins to gain reputation and get lots more green (uncommon) items than they would usually find as drops. As far as I know, reputation isn't especially useful unless you want to use a mount from another race, but the green items are always good to help save up some money or have better equipment.
But you can't ignore the fact that ABS lets you steer the vehicle in a 'panic braking' situation
Which really sucks for anyone who was taught how to brake properly in such a situation. ABS can help stop skidding if you seize up and forget how to brake or just never learned in the first place. For me the only thing it's done is jerk me around so much I lose what little control I did have in any given situation.
I'd take a car where I could directly control the stopping & skidding over a car that suddenly jerks me around so much I lose my bearings any day.
Yay! Somebody else who realizes that structure has more to do with apperance than the fleshy thin layer that gets stretched overtop. It's posts like this that make the wading through comments worth it.
Seems like you've made the common mistake of trying to listen to death metal for the lyrics. Not such a good idea. It's usually the instrumental portion that takes a great deal of skill to pull off.
One of the most impressive sights I've been afforded was to see truly well trained musicians performing 2 hours straight of speed & death metal.
Actually, what's neat about their approach is that you only have to wear brightly colored gloves - no glove-sensors necessary. The way I see it, this is the first step to not needing gloves of any color - which would be totally sweet.:)
Ya, that must be because the EE curriculum has sooo many more programming courses than the CS one. Just as you'd expect, right?
Actually, I'd guess it's that they're trained in how to think about logic clearly. EE's in particular get trained in the logic because it so directly effects their ability to analyze & build circuits. There's more to coding than just studying other people's neat tricks, and knowing the syntax by heart - that's what reference books are for.
I was also going to point out http://www.magnatune.com/. It's one of the best sites I've seen for music purchase. 50% of the money goes to the artists, they get to keep their rights to their creations, and the music distributed through their site is chosen for its quality. It's everything I could want in a music store.
I think the record company would do well to mimic these guys... but then of course, they'd have to play nice.
If they can manage to get that electronic paper stuff that was mentioned recently incorporated into production, it could be used readily in this idea. The images would be good, refreshable, and not use a lot of power in the process. I'm sure the price will be a bit high for a while, but most things are that way when they're first introduced.:-)
Two meanings for this: 1. Go on a fasting diet where you don't eat food but do drink liquids; 2. Drink more water (several more glasses per day) to your normal diet;
Third meaning: replace your current soda, tea, coffee, etc. intake with plain water. You don't have to add more (though it might be a good idea), just replace all the other stuff you drink anyway.
...it would be nice to know we weren't the only ones who mix Ride The Lightning with Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.
:)
You are most definitely not alone.

if your body handles the acid, you'll be fine

And why is the horizonal align called text-align and not horizontal-align, so as to be nice and consistent.
Because it would make sense to be consistent, and I'm not sure it occurs to them to do that.
Eh. They try (usually unsuccessfully) to approximate words. Perhaps a better word choice would have been "vocals". :-)

Just the quote I was thinking to post. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know I'm not all alone in thinking of these things. :)
