This is America after all.
Give the right people the right amount of money, and you are all-powerful and above the law.

what did they do before all this? why do we need them now? Artists? where is a single mention of artists? I see "illegal" "theft" "money", and now "congress", but no "artists"
and the news item: "we own the congress" is also missing..
advertising: "Look here: we're better then them other computer retailers - we halp those in need" and the dumb people will go there instead of somewhere else...
Just like the huge check-giving ceremonies in USA when someone wins the lottery
heh, that's nothing. search "linux"
here's whjat you get:
Sorry, no results were found containing "linux"
SEARCH TIPS
1) Check your spelling. Are the words in your query spelled correctly?
2) Try using synonyms. Maybe the site you're looking for uses slightly different words, like "film" instead of "movie".
3) Make your search more general. For example, instead of using specific product names, try using the generic product category.
Maybe I'm just stupid, but how does one go around regulating the Internet??? It's decentralised AFAIK, and belongs to no one. What can they really do? And, how far are they willing to go to get this done?
I added slashdot search there.
Their site is holding up quite well, with the slashdotting. Still alive but barely. Any bets on who will dies first? the company or the website??? My money is on the company.
While I totally understand that Microsoft wants money, I do not believe in paying an evil corporation with more-than-doubtful legal practices. Also I do not believe in piracy, so that keeps me from getting an illegal copy. I have a computer with windows downstairs, but never use it, it is just too slow. While it has the same hardware as this one, it is unbelievably unresponsive. Every time someone asks me a Windows troubleshooting question (and I get that a lot), I've refer them to better (READ: open-source) alternatives - Firefox, for example, instead of IE. I can proudly say that I "converted" 36 people to the "open-source religion", and that Microsoft will not be getting their money.
I saw them here too, right above the comments, below the articles. Two days ago I saw that. Since then they've been gone. Hopefully for good. But this is laughable. Let's take a minute to laugh at microsoft ads. They could have picked a weak side of linux to mock, but COST?!?!?!? Compared to $5000 for 1-machine license of enterprise 2003 server, linux is infinitely cheaper. I could understand them if they wend for say tech support, or hardware support, as those are still weak in Linux, but talking about cost of Linux compared to Microsoft is rediculous.
what's in it for the government. We all know that the goverment never does anything for the people in the USA, only for itself, but makes it look like it's for the people. Well here is IS good for the people, so the question remains. What does the government gain from this besides angering telephone companies.
Now how do we get one into Bush/Gates/[insert your favorite villain here]?
