Indie game Nosferatu just got this feature about a week ago. Nice to see the quake engine development community pioneering features instead feeling like they have to be "as good as quake3/doom3/$NEW_FLASHY_GAME" It also strikes me that Source doesn't do bezier patches, which quake3 some years ago and now Qfusion have.

Protestors who block the public streets, attack police, purposefully coat themselves with scents which will cause explosive dogs to alert, these are not legitimate protestors exercising their right "peaceably to assemble".

I would say that that covering oneself in something similar in smell to a bomb (to a dog) would be a rather peaceful form of protest, as would blocking public streets, unless done with rpgs and rocket launchers. That said, I'm voting for Walt Brown of the american socialist party in November.

GREATEST HEAVYWEIGHTS!!! I loved that game and still do. I popped in the cartridge the other day and still found me and my friends uber character that we played taking turns on one player until we literally would fall asleep with the game on. you could make your own boxers it was so cool!!! ours was green and was named dracula. he didnt have much speed, but more than made up for it in power and stamina. holy shit that was an awesome game. the taunts!!! "mama's boy" "pansy". if you played the ali character then he would say "what's my name" and "ain't i pretty". oh, and the sampled real michael buffer recordings down to play on the genesis. sweet jesus that game is fun. really the best boxing game ive ever played. (and then there is the pure genius of mortal combat. wow. more fun with two people though than Greatest Heavyweights.)

i thought the same thing. great book. though, i wish the technology was as advanced as the one described in the book, which uses a "correlation effect" to instantly communicate between transistors by using some kind of intereference between particles at the subatomic level. I take that back, the capcative thing is much better. that way the supercomputers we build with it can't change the mechanics of the entire universe to better implement the three laws.

  21. Re:multiplayer? on Doom 3 Creators Huddle, Address Clamoring Press · · Score: 0

servers don't render lighting, and in every other fps on the planet they have no reason to even worry about it. But, the way i understand it, Doom3 has something like real-time rendered shadows and lights that you can shoot out and stuff, meaning you can hide in other players shadows and the like, or just shoot out all the lights and play some "hide and go seek in the dark", letting your inner 12 year old take over (come to think of it that might be a cool mod! maybe i will bust out unrealed and try it in 2k4). more to the point, in doom3 the server needs to know where all the light is so it can do cool things like that on the fly.

  23. Re:Family Participation on Computer Gaming PCs Try To Stack Up To Consoles · · Score: 0

While I don't criticize your opinions about console gaming being a lot of fun, it is simply not true that group oriented gaming does not exist on the pc "due to the nature of the beast". Ever some CTF on any of the Quake titles? or the Unreal series? Halo even does it well, and does it well enough that people find it worth their while to force their square pegged desktop machines into a portable round hole. And believe me, as much fun as super smash bros. (melee or no) is, the ritual of setting a date, a place, and conspiring to steal networking gear from someone's place of business (or study) and then proceeding to flip out on generic mountain dew (faygo mountain mist is my personal favorite) in a room heated to discomfort by 500 watt power supplies and the bodies of 20 other sleep depriced gamers is just too precious. Oh, and in between lan parties a teamspeak server on someones dsl line can act as a poor substitute.
