Oh, of course I would fire somebody like that. But he should be still free to say whatever they want, but be wary of consequences, just like it works IRL.
So is this 'fansubbing' thing only for Anime? Are there fansubbings of regular movies? Because if there aren't, it would be a great idea. Hmmm... there's a lot of great Russian movies that I would love my American friends to see. *lightbulb*
You can start by stopping referring to non-geeks as 'normals'. I understand that it's a defensive reaction against being called a 'dork', but as a manager, you can't afford the luxury of name-calling anymore.
I'm one of those few that actually read and re-read the book for enjoyment and not for classwork, and I can say I'm NOT holding my breath. It's 99% probable that the movie will be completely shitty, and be like a 'Trainspotting' with swords and monsters.
It is incredibly hard to get the movies based on books from another era right, because back then, people acted, talked and thought completely different from us. They had different dreams, they were interested in different things, etc etc etc. And most of the Hollywood pseudo-medieval garbage is only concerned with the outside - swords, armor, horses and all those things. I see no reason whatsoever that this one will be different.
Without getting into the argument whether he's right or no, I'd like to point out that the public outbreak that followed his comments is incredibly stupid, and completely unnecessary.
Paul Graham has a very interesting article on this subject: What you can't say
This is not 10 GHZ, but due to lack of hard drive (who needs hard drive slowing things down if you have 256 GB of RAM?) and 4 GHZ CPU, this is probably going to be ten times as fast as today's desktops.
Don't let the horrible site design alarm you, this is a real thing, and was displayed at this year's CES. Right now, it's gonna cost about $14K, but will drop in the near future.
Of course, this will get me modded down by a furry-loving part of Slashdot for sure, but I think the fact that this disgusting image made it into the final program is just fucking gross. There's nothing sexy about animals, PERIOD.
I would just like to comment that the webpage that TFA is on is FUCKING HORRIBLE. It's filled with ads to the point where it's hard to find the actual content among all the ads! I mean, I understand that ads are useful, good way to keep the content free, etc.. but enough is enough!!!
I think he's a talentless hack who only became famous because of his good looks - just like Leonardo DiCaprio. And it's a damn shame Tim Burton is in love with him, because Tim Burton is a GREAT director.
It's no surprise that those Tim Burton movies that don't have Johnny Depp in them are the best - 'Big Fish' for example, was one of the greatest movies of last year, if not of all time.
Fuck Johnny 'Butt Pirate' Depp, I hope he dies and goes to hell!
The original Prince of Persia game was released back in 1990 and was one of the greatest games of all times. It featured THE best character animation to date. Good times, good times.
... that screamed when tapes started replacing LP's, and then CD's replaced tapes? I remember reading an article by a proud owner of ZX Spectrum (for those that don't know, a computer that used cassette tapes to store information) and boasted how well was he taking care of his tapes and that new floppy drive technology is inconvinient, and basically "thankyouverymuch, I'll stick to my tapes".
Were you that guy?
Like it or not, CD's are being replaced left and right by better, more convinient things as our society progresses. You can choose to evolve or risk becoming obsolete.
To respond to various people that said I don't need my eyes on the train: yeah, that was a typo. I don't need my eyes on the train. However, constant starting into 2x2 screen with bad resolution surely will cause blindness in process, so my original statement about needing eyes still stands:-)
Am I the only one who does not need this feature? I listen to my iPod when I'm on the train, when I'm walking somewhere, or when I'm working out.. all of these activities require using your eyes, so watching video is out of the question. Am in the minority here?
Bingo! This sort of behaviour on the part of employers is exactly what kick-started the unionization movement in the US back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
And eventually those jobs dissapearing from US and going to other countries, with exact same (if not worse) conditions for the workers.
I use the latest version (5.03a) and I find it to be flawless. It's one of those apps that shows rare attention to detail - for example, it has 'smart dragging' - when you drag it closer to the window border, it "sticks" to it. Why don't more window-mode applications have that?
Just because it's been declared dead doesn't mean I'll stop using it... not until it won't be able to play some format I'm very insterested in. Here's to hoping it'll go open source!
It's just good music went to the underground, where it belongs. Pick a genre that you like, and look for independent, underground artists in that genre. Sure as hell, you're not gonna find any good music on mainstream TV/radio/WalMart, but we all knew that anyway. As with everything in life, you have to dig deeper to find a real answer.

What's the difference between a blog and another personal website? You should be able to say whatever you want on it ...

Half Life CD has been sitting on my shelf for the last few years... maybe now there's a sequel out, it's time for me to play it?
Seems like Badnarik and Cobb would do anything for attention. Well, since the media is ignoring them, I think that's justified. More power to 'em!

.. use the only REAL hardcore programming language remaining - machine code

... cutting off his balls, feeding them to him, skinning him alive, and slowly burning him alive? That would be harsh

Yeah, but I'm only in my early 20's, I don't want my life to be over just yet.
Instead of getting up and getting a beer from the fridge, very soon I'll be able to tell my robot to :
- Go to the fridge
- Climb up
- Open fridge door
- Grab a beer
- Climb down
- Go back to couh
- Open beer
- Give beer to me
