I had my volume cranked because I was watching a movie that had been poorly encoded and had low volume. My pop-up blocker plays a quote from Harvey Keitel that has him saying "Fuck you, fuckball". The repeating pop-up windows had my computer screaming "fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck..." at top volume for about thirty seconds. I'm sure that's not something the neighbours appreciate at 4am...but definitely funny.
Your mother looks like ass in FireFox, however this page looks much the same in IE, FireFox or Mozilla.
Are you happy? I wasted a whole two minutes of my life on this. That's two minutes less that I get to live, it's like you murdered me a little bit with a tiny, little knife.
I think people are unfairly harsh on the third Godfather film. It does lose its way, but it is still quite good. It's only when compared with how wonderful the first two are that it loses its luster. Francis For Coppola has given us four or five of the best movies ever made, it's only a let-down when he's not absolutely amazing.
Those four or five? Godfather I, Godfather II, Rumblefish (if you haven't seen it, do), Apocalypse Now, and Dracula (depending on your taste). I say for these contributions we take Godfather III as it is, and try to pretend that 'Jack' was never made.
The sad thing about the situation is, while we do have more screens than ever, they are still owned by the studios. Vertical integration is a huge part of the incestual history of Hollywood. They make them, distribute them, and screen them...it's pretty hard to get a film shown unless it gets picked up by one of the majors (thank god for the success of Miramax) and that generally only happens after seeing some success at film festivals.
Damn, I hadn't heard any reviews of 'Alexander'...I was looking forward to it, hopefully this is one of those times when I disagree with Ebert, though Troy definitely wasn't.
It's really not about theft. Five minutes ago I thought to myself, I haven't listened to Nine Inch Nails in years. I'm downloading* faster than I can listen at the moment, that's convenience.
One of the hallmarks of advance in our society is the increased convenience of and amount of access to information. This has held true from the invention of type to our movement into electronic media. What I think Metlin's overall point is, if I'm not misunderstanding, is that corporate interests aren't in this situation furthering advancement, rather they are hindering it.
I'm sure there will be an answer to all concerns at some point in the future. But at the moment, someone's behind the curve of adapting to the new situation. They can try to keep things the same through lawsuits, or they can adapt. As Metlin said, how they adapt is their problem.
* In Canada my downloading isn't illegal due to the levies I pay on my media.
Nullsoft was sold to AOL in 1999, you were probably still running Win95 at the time. AOL bought Nullsoft for $100,000,000, eight zeros, not bad for a kid barely out of high-school. It is a shame that things have transpired this way, but I don't think you can really blame them for the sale.
Hmmm, that's a lot like a click-through licence that no one ever had to click through. I can't imagine a licence such as this to be legally binding. A quick look around google.com didn't show me any licence, and I actually had to google search for it. Now I don't disagree that what is being done is wrong (if it's being done), but I don't think this is the legal leg to stands on. IANL;)
Speaking of Karma, I don't usually Karma-whore, I'm generally more of an occasional-smartass-comment kind of guy, but I've got a link and after reading a couple hundred comments here, didn't see it anywhere.
Riddle me this...how can a rear spoiler be effective on a front wheel drive car. I was under the impression that the spoiler was to provide better traction for the driver wheels of the vehicle. Just a thought off the top of my head.
I noticed that they have 'Death Cab for Cutie' available. If you liked last years acclaimed Postal Service album, you may enjoy this a great deal. I know I did. Cheers.
Pints are bigger in Canada than they are in America. It's true. I get four more ounces of beer in a glass than the Americans and generally the beer is better. Life is sweet.
What country attacked the US? Really, I'd like to know. I remember an attack by a multi-national terrorist organization, but not by any country since Japan and Pearl Harbour. Think before you recycle lies.

That's basically the same list that got emailed around as Bushism as well. I think we all have to admit, Quayle took the cake in this department.
Note that Gore did say the last one, which I quite like, as well as:
"No matter how hard the loss, defeat might serve as well as victory to shake the soul and let the glory out."
-- Al Gore
"When you have the facts on your side, argue the facts. When you have the law on your side, argue the law. When you have neither, holler."
-- Al Gore
Just a Canadian with access to google.
I hope that I speak on the behalf of most Canadians when I say, please, don't bring him up.

The answer is yes if they mod one of these posts redundant.
Well, if they mod one of these posts redundant, then the answer is yes.

Are you ok? You seem quite upset.

Everyone that would have offered were too busy playing with their time machines.

Word.
I repeat, it's just a nipple...you get to see them when you're a baby. Why does it turn into something 'dirty' when you're a child?
We're far superior to the ancient Greeks, we kill much more effectively.
I wouldn't have to fix so much of my friends shit. Hallelujah!

It.
Ignore the AC, I hope that gets modded to Slash-hell. Best of luck with your trying time and I hope the days ahead brighten.
Aol
I echo those sentiments.

You call it corn? How odd.
