That was after they bought out Westwood, who was making quality products until EA ruined them with deadlines. Westwood was a fairly respected game developer, who was then crushed (like so many) under EA games "management" practices.

So much for that idea. He was two years off.

His mind was changed, however, when the true intentions of Feeney became clear: the computer program was going to be used to suppress the Democratic vote in counties with large Democratic registrations.
Did he get that idea after seeing Fahrenheit 9/11?

Why not use a replica of his original plane? Still sort-of cool. More exciting for the scientists down there as there was something to do besides watch ice move and worry about the potential effects of missing a supply plane.

They only help in their own self interest. If it costs less money to run Bill Gates email address by having less spam being sent, then its in their own best interest. Saves them money, hassle, etc.

Helping internet standards is not something that MS likes doing, willingly at least.

  14. Re:... reviews ... on Is There Something Wrong with Video Game Reviews? · · Score: 1

In response to PCGamer, I need to say that they are the best magazine out there in terms of accurate reviews. Graphics dont make a game, and they dont break reviews into "graphics score, sound score, fun score, etc.". The score is the average reflection of how a reviewer feels about the game overall.

Ive seen them give games 5% (mad dog mcrae), 12% (armored moon). Or give a game 98% (half-life 2), 97% (half-life 1), 94% (far cry). C&C Tiberian Sun got a 77. Its on the high end of the "good" scale, recomemded for fans of that particular genre.

In Dawn of War they gave it an 88(87), in the lows section near the % said "no strategy at all in single player needed". This was mentioned in the review. Right after it was mentioned how the multiplayer alone could last for months.

Some magazines (like X-Box magazine, and the now defunct PC Accelerator just suck (quake did not deserve a 10/10). PC gamer gave it an 80, and UT a 90. Why? Cause UT was a better game. Not all reviews are bad. Though the gamespot HL-2 one sucked (bash hl2 all the time, then give it a 96, wtf?)

  16. Re:Google-plexed on China Blocking Access to Google News Site · · Score: 1

To say that Google is co-operating with china's net police is an overstatement. They just dont list sites that chineese people cant get to. The Chineese blocked news.google.com, not the other way around. Its like how china blocked blogger.com and blogspot.com because some blogs were listing proxy servers to get around the "great firewall".

You can certainly blame google for censorship. Does china block news.yahoo.com and drudgereport.com? Its quite likely. If you live in china, and cant get to reuters news reports, then why bother having them be listed at all? 403 forbidden and 404 file not found errors are rather fun to ge getting at almost every site you visit. Not to mention a waste of productivity
