There are recent studies showing it may be possible that some of our methane on Earth is being created by the high pressure/temp conditions in the earth's mantle, rather than exclusively by the decay of organic matter. A written article on this, or an NPR segment (about 1/3 of the way into the audio file).
So what about the "invisibility cloaks" (http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/05/13/2215220) that are being researched. At some point could those metamaterials theoretically redirect the energy from these lasers?
The page you linked to is a little misleading with its title. The "safety" measure they are using to rank each state is percentage of fatal crashes in which at least one driver tested positive for alcohol.
I think you actually need to RTFA, because at no point does it say that stretching in general is bad for you. What it does say, is that several studies have shown certain types of stretching to decrease performance, while other methods do not have the same negative effects.
I've used several models of all three brands in my career and as a student. Of all the scopes, I liked the LeCroys best. They seemed to have better performance and more features than the others, but I know that is highly dependent on how much money you fork out for the scope.
Yeah, just warn them that once they get past #4 it's a waste of time. They will figure it out for themselves eventually though. I seriously skip several pages at a time in the last few books because the author gets so redundant and long winded.
They tried to pawn off Assassin's Creed as an "open world" game, which was complete BS. The open world was really just five ridiculously huge maps that they made you run across for every mission. They were all filled with the same repeated garbage, and all-in-all made for one of the most boring games I have ever played. It sounds like this is just going to be a clone of that. Not interested.
Working at a national laboratory is another option. I was an intern at Los Alamos for two summers working on proteomics research as a code monkey. There is a pretty broad array of topics you can work on at places of that size, so that may provide you more opportunity to find something you like than working at a university. And it probably pays better:)
I know it is still academic research, but it is a very different environment than a school lab.
This seems like a bad idea to me. I would assume that a lot of gamers will just buy a PS3 as their BluRay player, in absence of a 360 add on, now that HDDVD is dead. At least that's my most likely course of action. If the PS3 ends up getting a decent selection of games, it is just going to cause MS to lose market share where they previously would have taken all of my gaming money.
I would argue that the Xbox360 brought more than just graphics to the table. I think it was a revolutionary console in the fact that it is also a great component for a home theater on top of just playing games. It allows you to do much, much more with the console than just play games. An original Xbox running XBMC accomplishes the same things, and does a better job, but that requires mods and hacks of various sorts.
The integration with Xbox Live on the 360 also provides a great experience for gamers and can greatly extend the hours of entertainment one game can provide.
I'm not claiming that it is necessarily the best, just that you shouldn't under rate it.
Well here in the States there is just as much, if not more, "nudity" and sexuality on nightly tv shows. I didn't hear a huge uproar about seeing Sarah Conner's bare ass on the Terminator series premier though... strange.
Well one good way to do it is to read the magazine Paste. Every issue comes with a sampler CD that has tracks from various bands you probably haven't heard of. Another good way is to use online "radio stations" like Last.FM, I can usually find something new that I like on there. There are some good old fashioned radio stations around that don't play pop garbage though, and they can be a good source for new tunes.
I'm not a DJ or anything, but based on the bands you listed above we probably have similar taste in music.
Yes, I was applying George's insult to the context of this thread... rather than to someone eating all the shrimp in the ocean which would make no sense at all.
Most clients keep a good record of exactly what your share ratio per torrent has been. If it's less than one, you don't owe so much. If it's more, you pay a little more. At least you could prove that you did not infringe enough to justify a $200,000 penalty.
I am more of a "casual" reader to be honest, and I prefer to read the Cliffs Notes version of a book. They tend to cost about half of the price and take a fraction of the time to finish!
Bungie actually did release mod tools for Myth 2, I believe they were called Fear and Loathing. You are right in that the Myth 1 did not have tools, but did still have a very active mod community.
The reason Myth 3 was not so great is because Bungie did not make it.

Yup, I'm 27. I guess I might as well start huffing paint now. At least I'll get a little high while my brain turns to a vegetable.
That's because they didn't take enough math/science classes in school to see the flawed reasoning.
So Gears of War is an accurate intermediate step for future weaponry design... guns with saws!

// I actually enjoyed the first PoP remake.

Sexy female robot assassins? Sounds pretty cool to me.
You underestimated the power of the dark side... and $400 million.

....it wants it's article back.Oh yea? Well the jerk store called, and they want you back!
Hahaha, that would be so wonderful!

Yea, this is pretty well known amongst us nerds...

Dude, they were doing you a favor by not letting you buy it. Elton John? Seriously?
