Anyone have the hidden easter egg file of the QuickTime guys photos morphing to "Black or White"? I remember a friend of mine (who worked on Quicktime back in the late '80s) showed this to me as a hidden easter egg.
A Mac Mini is not for gaming. That's what PCs and consoles are for. The target market for the Mini is the average Joe Six Pack - someone who wants a simple machine that'll let them surf the web, check their email, write papers, and manage their photos and music without the hassles of virii, spyware, adware, etc. And the Mini accomplishes those things rather well.
Just downloaded 0.8.2 - first things first - glad to see that development is still ongoing with this browser. I had given it up for dead, though 0.8 was never deleted from my HD.
I toggle between Firefox and Safari for the most part, but the one thing I love about Camino is it's speed. Firefox, by comparison, feels bloated - and Safari feels slow.
I'm very anxious to see Camino hit the 1.0 milestone. Kudos to the developers.
I agree. Perry Bible Fellowship is easily one of the best webcomics out there. I recently discovered the comic. Well worth taking a look. How often is it updated though?
This may have already been mentioned, but here's a link on tweaking Firefox to make it even faster on a broadband connection. I've applied these settings and notice an immediate performance boost.
I concur. I'm running a single proc Rev. A 1.8GHz G5 here at work - and the machine does appear to feel MUCH more responsive than before. Page loading in Safari and Firefox has greatly improved, as has overall application launching times. No instabilities discovered so far, so I'm planning to update the Dualie G5 at home next.
I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone decided to mod their mini into a standard PC carcass. What's next? How about putting the Mini inside a vintage Apple II box?
Since the mini came out, I've been hoping I can stuff it inside an old Apple IIGS (or, even better - a//e), just for giggles. Anyone up to the challenge?
To ease the transition for Apple IIGS owners, Apple could have (and, I believe, SHOULD have) created a IIGS emulator. Thankfully, some IIGS emulators for the Mac now exist. I personally know a lot of people (including myself) who were resentful of Macs because of Apple's callous disregard of the Apple II.
I agree with the parent poster. Indian parents want their kids to go into law, engineering, or medicine. Being Indian, I was put through the same thing. I wanted to go to art school after high school - but my folks 'convinced' me to go into Electrical Engineering, because I also had a strong interest in computers. After years studying EE (both B.S. and M.S.), I worked in the industry for a few years. Yeah, I could do it - but my heart really wasn't into it. Thankfully, I decided to take control of my own life, and left engineering behind. I can totally understand how frustrating some people find it, especially if they are forced into 'stable' careers. Which, by the way, doesn't exist in ANY field, especially engineering.
I'm now a grad student in computer animation while working as an IT person in our university, and a web cartoonist in my spare time. Sure, it's not as much money, BUT, I'm MUCH happier now.
..I haven't tried it myself, but a fellow sys admin at work (who also happens to be an RA in our college) went through the hoops and did, in fact, receive his iPod. Me? I don't have the patience to go through with it -- besides, my iPod was free to begin with - I received it as a gift.:)
Just saw a television commercial last night advertising Netscape's Internet Service Provider business. The ad was directly aimed at the NetZero crowd. It's definitely the first time I've seen an ad for Netscape on television. Perhaps this is just one method of reintroducing the Netscape brand?
I concur - Happy Tree Friends is great! Several orders funnier than HomeStarRunner, especially if you're into woodland creatures committing random acts of outrageous violence.
Check out Scott Kelby's "Photoshop Down and Dirty Tricks". The book walks you step by step through the process of creating some killer effects. I've taught myself through books like these.
No problems with the install. OS responsiveness has improved somewhat. Safari seems to render pages faster now too. No apps were broken as a result of the update.

...for something really scary, how about dressing up as a guy from an outsourcing firm in Bangalore? Guaranteed to scare the crap out of your neighbors.

I did not know that they were racist. Apologies if I've linked to such a site.

Anyone know what the specs are on the upcoming XBox 2? Any truth to the rumor that it will employ G5 processors?
and here's the obligatory PC Weenies cartoon on the subject.

O'Reilly has a useful article on Mac Mini information for Linux / Windows users.
Stereotypes suck. Besides, who needs blondes when we already have the hottest woman in the world.

And in the end, that's what it's all about.
...any laws against bulk mail spamming a spammer?

...remember the indestructible black box they have in the cockpit? Why can't they make the whole plane outta that?
Nice idea. Too bad you can't use an AC adaptor in place of batteries. Any idea what the battery life on these units are anyway?

the real question is: why would you want to?
Installed on the following Mac:
Dual G5 2GHz
Single G5 1.8 GHz
PowerBook G3
