I agree, if they were to even drop the GC price to $99 and still included say Mario Sunshine, just like they did on the NES, they'd sell like hotcakes this holiday season.
That is not going to keep a console afloat. You have to have more than just a niche. You have to be a player or you get no titles. Will a developer make a game for the unit with the niche 500,000 units or the the console with 6million?
I'm no where near what you'd consider a graphic artist. But even I've found limitations to the GIMP. Mostly the Windows build of GIMP is not stable. I'm not going to run Linux here at work because it would be counterproductive at this time.
You take a person who never used a computer and teach them. Guess what, they'll pick up DOS, Linux, Windows, BeOS, any GUI, any console, pretty much just as easily.
People can understand, but geeks have an ability to understand right away. They then assume that everyone one else is a flipping idiot for not understanding. Some people just need to be taught.
Imagine something that doesn't come naturally easy for you, say cooking. Now imagine not being taught but just kind of trying different things. Not so easy is it? Remember you don't have a natural ability to cook so you're not going to pick it up easily.
Now think about how you might fare if you took courses and practiced a couple of times a week. You wouldn't be great but you'd get by. Of Course you'd still get stuck sometimes. That's what it's like for Joe and Jane computer user I think. We assume they should just know, and they just need some courses to get by.
They still annoy the piss out of me with their annoying questions.
Maybe they'll come up with force feedback gloves or something.
Man imagine that, a device that displays "keys" to be pressed that have feedback to them. So that there's actual sensation to pressing them.
We'll call it "keyboard"!!
Hehe just being sarcastic, but you get the idea. If you want to really put this to use find a way to change the dynamic of how we interact with computers in a meaningful way.
That stops you from going to a video store renting a movie(on DVD or Tape, if you thought of using screen captures I know you can figure out DeCSS and Macrovision) and making a copy.
I think you're being sarcastic but of course you got an Interesting modifier which makes me laugh.
The game plays just fine on the hardware with the exception of a setting that very few even hardcore gamers use. This is important to a few enthusiasts, most others will never know the problem existed.
Umm there is no problem running HL2 on any hardware. This is just for super image quality settings. Few people run with FSAA on still. Either way it's still much higher resolution and better color depth than any console on a TV.
Count me in already, been over a year now. Combination of lack of interest in the music and being pissed at the RIAA.
Seriously if I got sued by the RIAA and my non-geek friends didn't stop buying RIAA backed CD's, at least I'd know who are my true friends and not brainwashed consumer sheep.
I got'cha now. I was a bit fired up from 12 hours of work before.
Replay is a problem I don't see myself going back and playing HL after beating it on a high difficulty. Diablo tried to fix some of that by using randomly generated maps and such, but the game remains the same.
Way to be narrow minded. Don't need more FPS? You discount an entire genre right off the bat? Do you lump Wolfenstein with HL2? Hell let's just lump everything that uses a pixel as FALSE innovation since it's not really doing anything new, just reusing those same pixels.
I'd have to say that those two games(wolf & HL2) are different genres, two totally different worlds of gameplay. I really dislike this arguement that "games suck there's no innovation". The whole argument of more frames per second died out awhile ago, it's all about how detailed your environment can get now, how interactive.
What is TRUE innovation? Without some new interface to meld human to computer we're kind of stuck with using what we have. DDR I guess was innovative, but that's just a rehash of Track & Field for NES.
I agree, if they were to even drop the GC price to $99 and still included say Mario Sunshine, just like they did on the NES, they'd sell like hotcakes this holiday season.
There's a game called Dong Dong? Heh, the insanity that is nintendo.
If the Cube dropped $50 and still came with a free game that would be a no brainer!!! They'd sell a crap load of them.
very comfortable niche

If it's off is the internal location device still on though? You might be able to not receive calls, but you might be able to be found.
Fun.
It's so fucking sad that this is actually true.
Great counter offer, I offer "two fingers"
Anyone want to chip in?
We're talking Streaming video here, not streaming terrorists instructions. 9/11 is a moot point to this.
Well, let's go about calculating the cost of the time and energy of removing LInux, installing whatever else and getting that to work.
IMHO just install FreeBSD for the time being.

That'd be the one. Thanks for finding it, I'll have to keep closer eye on these thing so they don't wander off.
I have the entire weekend dedicated to gaming and beer drinking. Should be fun.
Heyo,
.bit going so we can all enjoy. Righteo, let's move along here.
Let's get a
Think this thing has some phatty hydrolics?

I know what you mean. I too enjoy solving the problem, know it can be done, but get bored by the implementation.
I think you should move into management.
The agony of playing on a game off a knoppix boot would be too much I think.
I know plenty of people who can't fall asleep without the TV on. One of my ex's was like that, drove me insane.
Average user never updates anyway, can't tell you how many desktops I see with the "New Updates Available" icon in the systray.
Of course it'll be hectic for businesses.
They're all great, and I'm happy for those parents who couldn't have children otherwise.
But, has the number of couples that can't have children gone up? It always worried me. Am I just being paranoid?
Also these procedures are not cheap! That money could really change an orphan's life...
