    I contract (maintaining credit cards etc) for a federal company (cant tell u the name)...& i had to deal with someone from experian (one of the big fat credit bureaus) for credit scores....according to him, all you need is a name & probably address, they can give you social security number, & the whole credit history, for 9 cents!!!! (if you buy scores for like 100K persons!!!!) talk about privacy there..

    recently there was another /. article that computer addictions getting high, u gonna ban it??
    comon ppl wake up, games are like good drugs, making you strong (in terms of reflexes, & other common sense stuff)
    for instance, Did anybody notice that game players are better drivers in real world, & they know to keep watch on other cars while on road, while traditional drivers just watch the car before them.

    The job descrptions should include the reviews/comments from current employee/s (could be anonymous) who is/are working in the same position as the seeking title. That would clearly tell the aplicant what to expect or how many years to stick with the company. Forget about the description of jobs posted by original head hunter. they dont know the field work, nor the results of the job. just some lazy ass manager sends them requirements & headhunters add some bells & whistles & post on sites/newspapers. we need honest comments from current employees.

    doesnt this pose these limitations?
    1. no magnetic devices around... eg: speakers
    2. Disturbance to/from other devices?
    3. One uber-geek would come up with a nice magnetic reader which when placed on ur CPU, would detect the magetic fields & can actually read the data lines...privacy issues? ( i know this is very hollywood-ish)...

    To the overlords who claim outsourcing to be bad...ask this yourself .. if walmart has 300GIG hard drive for 10$...& circuit city has the same shit for 100$? where would you buy? Obviously walmart..right? but you know walmart has low technical expertise when it comes to harddrives & other geek stuff? But you are compromising yourself on walmart's customer rep's expertise becos 10$ sounds sweet to you & u r confident that you can play with jumper settings & cables. Do you think about circuitcity executive who will be out of work becos John Doe decided not to buy from them? same example, replace stores with countries, harddrive with labour, you will get the point. second, whos responsible for driving companies to outsourcing business? they fear bankruptcies & legal complications from employees & most importantly **COST**.. kill the hypocrisy & buy harddrive from walmart. i understand some modders see this as flamebait/offtopic as well..go ahead..i couldnt stand the hypocrisy..

    This was sometime back when I was playing around with KDE & SuSe. I was searching sourceforge/freshmeat for some cool ripper. they were problems compilin & shit with them. I poked around into /mnt/cdrom in konqueror & HOLY SHIT it has mp3 & ogg vorbis folders. I was shocked to see mp3 supplied by the CD manufacture. later i came to know it was KDE's feature!!! All i had to was copy/paste folder into HD partitions...i was like holy goddamn! KDE has an inbuilt ripper. thats it, i never searched for a ripper. just My 2c.

    the author didnt convey how he dealt with NTFS rw access issues (or he didnt have to??!)... also..did anyone try MS exchange server/webmail thru firefox? & how crappy it is? i dont know if its prob with FF or with MS exchange server's dodgy asp. just to access my corporate email, i have to logon to windows box...(YUCCCK!)

    WHy would someone want a TV show replayed..when they can comfortably tape it? that too if u already got comcast ccable?
    there could have been potential if thats for any broadband user.. (for me..i have DSL but no TV)
    or like for someone who went overseas & dont want to miss his/her soaps back home

    I Agree.
    Only if your tasks are browsing, office apps, photo viewing/pritning.
    But once you want those cool games, videos etc, its a nightmare. Not that its impossible, but u think granny would be happy if u tell on phone to her
    do a ./configure && make && make install
    she wont reply 'u r nuts!!??'
    dont forget p2p apps (amule) & file sharing on local networks..they too look simple, but bitch a lot at first. Just to name a few just adding my own contribution to the flames
