First off this is a law student and one that I hope never graduates. The NYTimes published his article which shows an obvious angle of intent. Only our representatives should be speaking publicly on this sort of issue. That way we can at least vote them out or impeach them for incompetence for supporting such eugenic prone laws. It seems as if all of you haven't even considered that this guy does not and should not speak for society as a whole. That's what we have representatives for. It's bad enough we're all branded with numbers and forced to into financial servitude but to have some newbie wanna-be lawyer become a proponent of a system which will only lead to future genetic discrimination is beyond ridiculous.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest a correlation of Windows Media Center's rise vs. Tivo's fall. I wanted to build an HTPC the first time I saw what XPMCE could really do. This was expanded with Vista Media Center (which I built my first HTPC with). Win7 is now a great choice for building your own cheap HTPC. Yes building a dedicated HTPC is more expensive but in the long run you won't be tied to a proprietary console and limited storage (plus a litany of other things). Very similar argument to console gaming vs pc gaming.
Now, you got yer MythTV lovers, Windows Media Center lovers, and so on. Anyone that has their own HTPC loves them far more than a Tivo because they can do 10x more. A comparison to the iPhone (in my opinion) is ludicrous. They aren't even close to the same market. Even my grandma has a cellphone. You think she wants a Tivo when she can't even get the 12:00 to stop blinking on her VCR? Make no mistakes folks, the HTPC is here to stay and will only become a more popular component of the home system.
So let's get this discussion headed where it should have been originally. One of Tivo's fall...and continual fall...due to the HTPC.
"20MB is plenty for me"... NOOB. You obviously aren't an advanced user and as such I'm insulted you even post here. By the way that's 20Mb (Megabits) not Megabytes... Google Megabits Conversion and you'll find a nifty tool to help you sound smarter next time.
another $20 says something else major happens to IT in the City of Norfolk in the next 10 years (provided the same idiot still works for them who is responsible).
This kind of policy is easy to describe: Garbage in, garbage out.
I had no idea there were so many haters out there of the original movie. I thought and still think it's one of the most epic movies ever created. When someone asks me "What is an epic movie?" The first thought that enters my head is "Dune". You people are crazy. Original Dune movie was the s**t!!!
It's been 3 years since I've gone to a movie theater and I actually went to see Avatar yesterday. It was worth it. Yes, Avatar is actually that amazing. If your loser friends don't want to pay money to see the greatest movie ever made on the big screen that's their f***ing problem.
Yup, GO B/W LASER! You can pick one up for under $200 now and IT IS SO WORTH IT! Getting away from the whole "cartridges are more expensive than the printer" bs was such a good feeling. You won't feel trapped by an immoral industry trying to suck the money out of your pocket with a huge straw. You get a much better value for price per sheet and lasers will spit out prints as fast as they can roll them out making inkjets seem slow by comparison.
I've only seen Central Park in movies. I'd be interested in having the ability to roam around there. Also another nice idea would be some of the larger botanical gardens with alternate views for each season to see what different climate zones look like at different times of the year. It would be like taking a tourist vacation without ever leaving the house. OK this whole concept is starting to feel a little total recall'ish.
No, it's because of Double Jeopardy. You can't be tried twice for the same crime on the same set of facts. They have to get a slam dunk because the court (awesome pun) is completely ripped from under their feet after that. It has absolutely nothing to do with image though most of the uneducated Jerry-Springer-watching public does think that way. Case in point.
Suffice to say he will not be released early. He's too stupid to make it as a crook. It's sad to see someone with intelligence that also has a complete lack of it.
NewEgg doesn't sell eggs. You can't order a real Bengal from TigerDirect.
You can't buy Micro Stars from MSI. and finally... Macintosh does not sell real Apples.
If they took down the internet what is there to hack (or forcefully provide incentive for code improvements)? Hardware and social engineering crap again? Not to mention all the completely inept script kiddies that depend on actually skilled coders to do their work for them. There's no way they would shoot themselves in the foot. D...U...H...
I really think a home file server (NAS) is the way to go now. Yes, still hard drives. If you really want to keep your data safe you should plan on purchasing duplicate drives each time you shop. 1 will remain in your home NAS. The NAS could be as simple as an old 800 mhz computer that you throw into a case with 10 internal bays. Personally I use an open source solution called SyncBack. It's extremely basic but it allows me to backup any drive connected to my home network to my NAS. Similarly, there are a lot of suggestions for Acronis. I like my SyncBack just fine.
Definitely paid beta. FUCK EA. Where's Infinity Ward when you need em? Oh wait...

You posted a non-technological story to Slashdot and the source was BBC. Double Fail.
Really? My impression was that we killed his robot lover and Portal 2 is about revenge.

Until you try to use Sandbox or take in a donation without a fee. If Paypal wasn't so big it would be a joke... wait no... it still is.

OK I'm impressed by that one. GJ.
This is about as low as you can go for ratings. This would be as low as showing people getting anal warts removed. Thank god TV is dying.

We'll all get pin implants. It's about time we turned into an alligator clip society.
Frak! Idea of the year right there folks.

They'll never be able to sell her that matrix now...
In that case new overlords != old overlords

I have an invisible ring around my house. It's great.
