However, the Dream and Magic are both 3G phones and therefore work with Bellus' HSPDA network. I know this because I'm currently using an HTC Dream from Rogers on Telus. I broke my contract with Rogers a couple months ago because the Edge coverage Rogers has in my home town does not perform as advertised and they have no current plans to upgrade to 3G here
That's no problem here since Telus' 3G+ coverage is better than Rogers' Edge.
I'm a Telus DSL customer and sure enough, I'm unable to access the union site mentioned above but I'm still able to access the union's master site http://www.twu-canada.ca/.
I'm not a big fan of unions myself and in this particular dispute I have to admit I'm leaning towards Telus' side of the argument. However, this behaviour makes me consider switching to another ISP. I'm curious just what it is Telus doesn't want us to see on this site, can anyone mirror it?
and nag-free? Is nagware to be included in the clean list? Technically, nagware is clean and free but some of the nags are nearly as annoying as adware. However, some limit themselves to a simple splash screen with an OK button.
...at least they're not like the "Throw-in-every-catagory...
They're not? Then how why do they have a reality tv category? Why do they have "Daytime" Emmys?
Face it, the Emmys are just as bad as the Oscars, et al., a useless award show for self-important people to strut about while someone else strokes their ego for a bit.
is to forget about software firewalls and get a decent hardware router. Most wired only routers sell for about the same price as Norton Personal Firewall if not less. That way you're at least protected from viruses like Sasser, etc. until you can get your Antivirus of choice installed and updated. Just be sure to change the default password on it to prevent someone trying to remote admin your router.
I can't be bothered with an XBox until they come out with the new K&M controller (keyboard and mouse). I just can't stand playing FPSes on console controllers.
I agree somewhat. If you could take Lynch's casting, set budget, costume, special effects, etc. and marry it with Sci-Fi's slightly better adherence to the actual novel you'd have a good Dune movie. As it was, Lynch's Dune was a good movie based on character's in the first novel but it wasn't Dune.
I mean, weirding modules? If Lynch wanted funky zap guns for the movie he could have used the Lasguns without inventing weapons to replace the weirding way.
Sci-Fi stuck a little closer to the story but, IMHO, the casting was way off. William Hurt is not Duke Leto, and the kid playing Paul came off like a petulant child with a freak gift.
One can only hope Sci-Fi has learned something from their last attempt.
Someone PLEASE post a link to a reputable site that has QUIET fans (CPU fans, projector fans, powersupply fans) that can be bought in Canada! PLEASE!!!
I'm not sure if they have the quiet fans but I have a feeling they do since they carry just about every heatsink, fan and case mod product out there. And they are based in Ontario, prices aren't too bad either.
Their Vectras may be fine but the Pavilion line is an insult to the HP name. I've done warranty for them for a few years now (they've started with the express replacement now and cut us repair shops out) and the sheer number of Pavilions which crossed our bench was astonishing.
And this wasn't your run of the mill ID10T or PEBKAC situation either. We had several with the hated Quantum bigfoot drives, poorly cooled AMDs, bad mounting jobs even when they did have semi-decent heatsinks, you name it. The only thing I could say in their favour is that most models I saw used ASUS mobos.
The scary thing is, HP seems to be applying the same model to their printer line now.
Yes, I remember when OS/2 came out I was working for a retailer that carried IBM's new (then) Aptiva line which recently replaced the PS/1's and 2's. We had asked the IBM rep who was visiting all the retailers (anyone remember Team OS/2?)if any of the Aptivas would be preinstalled with OS/2 and his answer was no.
As much as they were touting OS/2 as the windows killer, they apparently didn't trust it enough to bundle with their own PCs. I think a couple models eventually showed up with the option of running OS/2 or Windows 95 but by then the lack of apps was already killing it.
Interestingly enough, I have seen OS/2 in use in a couple businesses. Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)uses OS/2 Warp 4 on their workstations and I think also Bank of Nova Scotia. I wonder if these banks are using OS/2 as a sort of Security through Obscurity thing.
Actually, I like using abuse@ addresses for that sort of thing. If they're stupid enough to harvest and spam such an address they get what they deserve.
get out of the PC business. I work for a company that does HP warranty work among other brands, and I've seen more HP Pavilion PCs cross my bench than almost any other brand.
Which is actually kind of surprising considering they did have some quality components like ASUS motherboards and the like.
It seems HP's quality started to dive when they started to diversify in the home market, ie. Pavilions, cameras, the CD Writer+ 7200, etc.
If "1337 5p34k" shows up in OED, I'll know for sure it's time to stop taking it seriously as a serious English dictionary. It's the one thing that made ebonics sound intelligent.
I'll have to thumb through some of the old novels, but I'm sure the term was used in some of the old hard sci-fi like Heinlein or Asimov or countless others who coined such terms as "asteroid mining" in the 40s and 50s.
I don't think it's a matter of actual relevence here. Consider the nature of the CableCo's, ie. money-grubbing-whores. If they can get away with charging per connected device rather than by bandwidth usage, they'll do it. They might have a point in the case of a customer sharing his connection with his neighbor and thereby effectively "losing" them a customer, but it seems it's going to be tricky.
If they get too draconian with per-connection fees and the like, it could backfire and lose them customers.
Wind is only available in Metropolitan areas in the east right now so it's not an option for any of us in the west. At least not yet.

Yeah, that must be it. Enterprise was cancelled because it had lyrics in the theme.

Now if they could just bring back Firefly and Futurama I'd be very happy.
I can't be bothered with an XBox until they come out with the new K&M controller (keyboard and mouse). I just can't stand playing FPSes on console controllers.
Now, do this with Calivn and Hobbes!
Already done here.

I like your second idea better. It has a nice Darwin effect since anyone who buys from vendors who spam is essentially too stupid to live anyway.
Actually, I like using abuse@ addresses for that sort of thing. If they're stupid enough to harvest and spam such an address they get what they deserve.
Uh, if anything AOL will decimate any credibility Linux as attained so far.
Frankly, I have a hard time even using AOL and credible in the same sentence.

Uh, actually, not one of those Family Guy episodes were new. It was two hours of reruns.

So who's the mouth breather that moderated that one to funny?
And now Pixar has fallen victim to the Slashdot effect.
Flash is safe because it's installed as an ActiveX control in IE. In fact, it's listed as one of the components of IE when installing IE.
