haha, thats right, just switch ISP's, thats even harder than not going to Wal-Mart, and with all the people who hate Wal-Mart, for all their anticompetitive practices, putting small biss out of biss and dumping on its workforce, the consumer backlash doesent appear to have had much effect.
For all your talk about switching ISP's and consumers voting with their wallets, 'real world' capitalism doesent work like that.
Basically, it has games running on it. The games dont look any better that the 360, and certainly dont look as good as the images they released ages ago. Its pretty much meh, hence the price tag being too much as you can get a 360 and a wii for less that a PS3, and have the same graphics and innovative gameplay (with the wii). go look up the E3 coverage for running demo viedos
As for this digital distribution thing, I fail to see how it is better than the 360's. Everything talked about (Content distribution, demo delivery etc) is already implemented in Live, that and Live is actually up, running and making money. Which means that it is also constantly getting refined with mass user feedback, whereas the PS3 online offering will have little end user feedback at launch time.
You know the biggest god damn problem with Hi Def TV?
Its too complicated. 480i, 480P, 720i,720p,1080i,1080p, HDTV that displays a 720P in 1080i, that looks crappier than 1080i, 1080p sets that exist but cost $10,000+ but no actual content, 1080p content that is really just someother content, but 'upscaled', 480p not looking correct on a 1080i/p set, increased cost for 'digital' content via cable/sattelite, cable cards, hd-tv sets that are hd-tv ready, but not actually ready, and god help you if you just want to watch normal TV on the damn thing, not only does it look like crap, but theirs a dozen different ways to make it look slightly less crappy.
Seriously, what bunch of idiots thought this up and actually thought this was a good idea? the average person has no hope of understanding all the formats, and just wait to see their responce when they buy one of these drives only to find out that the HD-TV set they brought can not in fact actually display these images. Then you have the PS3 with limited output on the lower end model, just try explaining that to some irate joe, when he finds out how much money hes wasted.
This has been possibly one of the largest clusterfucks I have ever seen....
If you dont know a lot about these online games, why bother to make a comment, which through your lack of knowledge will more than likely be wrong? - Which in this case it is.
I am not a journalist, but how do these guys get their credentials?
Have you seen the white house press briefings? Thats the same question I ask mysef whenever I watch one. Everyone there is too scared about loosing their seat than asking a hard hitting question or two...
Ive played HL2 EP1 - and I agree with the majority of the review comments. However I do not believe that this episode was worth $20.
"Once youve brought all three youll have a complete game and you wont have to wait an extra year for it"
No, no I wont have a comeplete game. The reason being is that these episodes are reusing textures, prefabs, characters, sounds, AI and the graphics engine from HL2.When I spend $60 on a new game I want it to be just that "A new game!". I dont want to spend $60 on a game that has basically been modded from a previous game ive already played. Not only that, but it also does not come with multiplayer, I cant return it if I hate it and I have to wait an additional year from when I first start the gameto when I am actually allowed to complete it.
Seriously, where is the value in that? - sure you can suger coat it with "But they have updated the graphics engine!", "They have new character dialog", "its soo rich and immersive" - at the end of the day though you are just paying for a remake of a game you already own, with the added bonus of paying an additional $60 and having to wait a year to complete the game.
I have now tried episodic gaming, I realise now more than ever that I hate it, and I will never again all into this trap. I urge the rest of you to boycott this type of sales behaviour before we see games chopped up, released slowly and costing more before its too late.
You know whats scary?
Im an immigrant, I moved here legally, from the UK, ive paid thousands of dollars just to be here, i contribute a lot of money to the US economy and employee a number of US workers... and for my efforts to play by the rules, to hand over money for fees, to wait and wait and wait patiently on different sides of the atlantic, and to fill in god knows how many forms and pay more fees.. I get the opportunity to be chipped.
Thanks for that, next youll be telling me I could have brought a cheap plane ticket, stayed here past my visa experation and payed less in fines than the fees i paid and granted would have been granted 'amnesty'... oh, wait..
Its an issue because 1) The definitions are intentionally vague 2) It is defining what is morally acceptable and enforcing it by law and 3) It is a good beginning.
The first 2 points should be fairly clear, let me explain the third.
If someone were to introduce a law to ban all violent video games, it would get shot down. If someone were to introduce a bill that once passed into law would allow others through lawsuits to build the definitions of what is morally 'correct', then it would not take much to slowly adjust the bill until it had strangled adult games into a 'near criminal obsession by a few lonely gun carrying nut jobs'.
I hate the term, but its near classic 'slippery slope'.
Besides, do you really want to be told how to raise your child by someone else?
Actually, you know whats really really annoying about reporters? (And this goes for mainstream as well as game journo's) - Its the fact that none of them are willing to ask an uncomfortable question, you make light of it in your post but in reality none of them would say something like that, or, more appropriatly, none of them would ask a question like this:
" You claim that the PS3 will replace the computer, my question is, have you replaced your PC with a PS3?"
a decent follow up to the predictable answer of "No, not yet as their is insufficient linux support" would then be:
"When you replace your PC with a PS3 how will you compile your taxes, alter photos, write documents, create presentations all with a limited hard drive? also how do you expect the average joe user to achieve the same thing"
Another good question: "You say that you did not copy the new nintendo controllers motion aspects, and yet you announced to just a few of your developers 10 days before E3 about this new feature, and only a few months before your console is actually launched, my question is: Why do you feel the need to lie rather than to just admit what everybody else knows? that you copied nintendo.."
But journalists dont have the balls (Despite claims from PA on a one time interview) to ask these questions, its a shame.
But what happens when you are voting in a two party system (USA), for example I believe in the right to an Abortion, and I believe that the Death Penalty is correct. Unfortunatly that means I can only vote for half of my choice. Independants dont count, as their is no guarantee that they have the same view points as myself, nor is there a guarantee that there will even be an appropriate independant in my voting area.
So yes in an ideal world you should know your parties entire political ideals and vote based on that, but unfortunatly out here in the real world we have to vote on a few key issues that matter to us at that point in time.
does taking a break so as to relax the mind and body become slacking?
Ive noticed that some of our office tenants enforce a 'no web browsing' rule, but allow employees to head outside for a smoke break...
It blows my mind that certain activities are considered slacking activities whilst others are as necessary as going to the bathroom. Of course spending 4hrs looking over/. might be considered excessive...
What consumer backlash? - People dont care, even with the rootkit stuff people still went out and brought the CD's, if anything it put the name 'SONY' out in the publics mind more than a regular marketing campaign.
People are lazy and really could careless, right up until the point it really does affect them, but then its too late...
A cell phone MMO is great and all but what about the cost of data?
Last time I checked it cost a small fortune per KB. I know you can get unlimited bandwith for a price, but that would be a price ontop of the monthly subscription price...
I would prefer paying $400 with no monthly fee for World of Warcraft instead of $40 with a $13 monthly fee. Why? Because in the two and a half years that it has been out, you've accumulated a price of $40 + $13*30 = $420 and we all know it won't end there.
If i remember correctly there is an option to pay a whole 12 months worth of subscription to WoW for a reduced monthly price. Most people balk at spending that amount of cash upfront, myself included, even though I/We end up paying more in the long run.
I believe that episocid content is a really bad idea, but for MMO's a monthly fee makes sense, as in essence the game world goes on and on, plus it gives you an unprecidented social interaction that you cannot get with a single player game (At least not yet).
Actually, the only true cube worth using is http://www.miniaturecube.com/
Irony, Sarcasm, something along these lines...
Only if you can then soak em with the water pistol and take back all your cash..
haha, thats right, just switch ISP's, thats even harder than not going to Wal-Mart, and with all the people who hate Wal-Mart, for all their anticompetitive practices, putting small biss out of biss and dumping on its workforce, the consumer backlash doesent appear to have had much effect.

You know a while ago there was all that talk about posters adding to discussions to boost certain products/games? well i think i found one!

so I picked up the highly reviewed sims 2
I would go onto point out the rest of the hype in the post but I think you get the idea... Beware
