  5. BTX (-1 Offtopic, but...) on AMD Aims At New Standard for Motherboards · · Score: 1
BTX, introduced a couple of years ago, has not caught on very widely, and Intel decided to shelve future development late last year. Part of the reason for that may be the fact that BTX has limited compatibility with products designed for the dominant ATX form factor.
I actually liked the BTX format, what with the better airflow over the GPU, CPU, and Hard Drives because they were all streamlined. I would have bought a BTX motherboard for my next box, but I guess Dell and friends weren't as committed to it as I was.
  6. What About the Wealth Gap? on Does Income Inequality Matter? · · Score: 1

What about the wealth gap? That's more what I'm worried about. Two people who make the exact same amount of money but aren't given the same options for saving it will have much less wealth to pass on to their children later in life. This perpetuates a cycle of slow growth for the non-wealthy and a cycle of faster growth for the already wealthy. Take housing, for example... the average house in a mostly Caucasian neighborhood appreciates much faster than the average house in a mostly non-Caucasian neighborhood. When you can sell your house later for $50,000 more than you bought it for, you've gained a measure of wealth that others don't necessarily have access to.

Sure, it's a little extreme... but do you expect much less from the **AA?

  10. Mr. Anderson... on NYT Reports Steve Jobs' Exoneration · · Score: 1
It seems that you've been living two lives. One life, you're Fred D. Anderson, Chief Financial Officer for a respectable software company. You have a social security number, pay your taxes, and you... help your landlady carry out her garbage. The other life is lived in the back rooms, where you go by the hacker alias "Neo", and are guilty of virtually stock option crime we have a law for. One of these lives has a future, and one of them does not.

We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation in bringing a known terrorist to justice.

What about their CFO, Mr. Anderson? Even if Jobs doesn't go down the tubes, high-level people like the CFO resigning can still affect a company in a major way, and it looks like Jobs is trying to distance himself from the fiasco (not that I blame anyone for wanting to do that).
