That's a COVER STORY!
The truth is that he has fallen out of favour with the government since Torchwood uncovered evidence that he is working with Davros.
Personally, I think the government shouldn't be in the business of giving out meaningless awards and I would refuse one on that basis.

Re:If I were stranded on a deserted island...
And apparently the creator of Solitaire - Wes Cherry - would like nothing better to pass the time on a desert island than "Robotron 2084"...
Full interview for those who missed it:
http://b3ta.com/interview/solitaire/ -
Re:"Read more"Further timewasting opportunities for tomorrow include reading an interview with Wes Cherry, the guy who wrote Windows Solitaire: interview
It seems that Wes would himself prefer Robotron 2084 to Solitaire.

Re:Duh - we all do.I had a friend who had a summer job at BAE. One of the other students spilled some solvent on the wing of one of the military aircraft they were building. :-) Here's a similar story but that guy did apparently get canned.

Linux has Games too
Foolish HP. Leaving out the Optical Drive is futile. Kids can get around this. If they feel like it, they will probably write their own games. And who can forget many of the open source classic games that are included with KDE and GNOME.
Remember kids: ./configure

so so true
I keep finding out famous people died or tragic events happen through b3ta because suddenly everyone's photoshopping pics of the people/event, then I pop over to news.bbc.co.uk to find out what really happened.

No argument there.
Mac's used to represent the resistance against conformity. Now they encourage their own form of conformity with their iMacs and iPods and iPhones and iJustDon'tGiveAHoot.
This is something to think about if you own anything made by Apple after 1998.
Surely there is someone out there that remembers 68k Macs that can cheer up the Woz?
I think what the Woz really is concerned is that there are too many people who play around with all the fancy programs that computers have but no appreciation for how it all works. -
Re:See also xkcd comic "Online Communities"...And Cory Doctorow's balloon, obviously.
I love this map, but even at full-size there's a lot of detail that you can't make out, which frustrates the hell out of me. I was also annoyed by the fact that the little peninsular west of the Bay Of Trolls isn't allocated to b3ta... Still, a staggering and witty undertaking, worthy of much praise.
I actually asked Randall if I could have the image at a higher resolution so I could project it onto my wall and trace it out, with all the little names that you can't make out. He hasn't replied yet...

Re:You fail to understand one thing
The problems B3ta posters have had with Nuts and Zoo magazines spring to mind. Hey, these guys aren't making money from their amusing images, so its OK if we publish them and fail to credit you or even ask first.

Re:And, as we all know...
I first read Your Sinclair and Sinclair user. I then discovered crash and never looked back.
If your in the UK then pick up GamesTM, I think a number of the crash writers work on it and it regularly features some of the crash feautures as articles in the retro section.
While im at it, to all those who remember the good old days and want a trip down memory lane, check out http://www2.b3ta.com/heyhey16k/ .
Yes thats how games used to look and we were glad for it. Uphill to school, in the snow, both ways with no shoes...kids today dont know theyre born... -

Re:And, as we all know...
Specifically, Jetpac, Knight Lore, 3D Deathchase and Quazatron along with better versions of Elite, Head Over Heels, Spindizzy and R-Type mean C64 LOSES.
What you should do is set your love for the little rubber-keyed monster to music...
Oh wait, it's happened already!
Hey Hey 16K - which might explain some of the peculiar British affection for these machines... -

great song

Tell me about it...
I have:
four Sinclair Spectrums (rubber key 48K, two Spectrum+, and a toast rack Spectrum 128)
a MicroVAX
a Sun Ultra 5 (used as a server)
Out of all of them, the Sinclair machines are the most fun.
A little song that sums up why the Speccy was (and still is!) so much fun:

An anonymous READER?
Hey, we already have a term for these people, let's call a spade a spade, and a coward a coward.
With that said; if you paid for this service, vote with your dollars, and go pay someone else. If you're using a free account, stop bitching. They're giving it to you for free! If they want you to identify yourself by your high school nickname, you should be grateful... even if they did call you "logger".

Re:That's not a fork
b3ta to links to a site which had text under the banners to say something like "Thank you for blocking adverts. Now I will have to spend money on bandwidth that I would otherwise have spent feeding my kids". It was flash movies and the like, probably got zillions of page views. Now I've no idea what percentage of bandwidth costs get met my ad revenue, so maybe they were just taking the piss, but you never know. Maybe looking at the funny flash movies with adblock enabled is like eating at a diner and not tipping. I click on ads on sites which are interesting and bogged down anyhow. What's the time you save not doing it?
