On a related note, this guy has the best webcam ever.

Re:Whoopty do
I always wanted to do a mini-fridge pc
;) but frankly my favorite mod of all is the Ice Drive I know, it's a 'parody' of extreme overclocking sites, but you really can embed a hard drive in ice, and it should work, at least intil the ice melts enough to fry it out (the 'greasing' step is to keep the water out prior to it's freezing, as well as to prevent any that might melt from entering the drive during 'normal' operation) -
Re:Perhaps
I've heard that it may be a possibility.

Re:Is it...
I don't know how or why you were modded as "Flamebait". Your post is insightful.
There is a different standard on the web, where willful ignorance is forgiven. Obviously not everyone can be an uber-geek, but as with anything out there, using a PC, or going online, requires a little bit of knowledge. If people are not going to pay attention to whatever shows up on their PC, or they're just going to click straight through install wizards, they ought to share some of the blame.
Case in point: BBSpot posted a satire article about a Nigerian billionaire philanthropist. And while the site clearly states that it is completely satire, Brian Briggs still got emails asking for details about the Nigerian. -
Not only Firefox
It catches Internet Explorer too!.
Opera and Safari shall soon take their rightful place at the top of the browser usage tables. -

You mean that's not a true story?
Microsoft Purchases Evil From Satan
Whaddya mean, we can't believe everything we read on the WWW?
I'd check that one again. Half the trick of making such a deal would be maintaining plausible deniability.
Now we have reports that the Empire is unbundling WMP? That's gotta be crap.
Everyone knows that, once assimilated, middleware CANNOT be removed from WinBloze! The Emperor, himself, testified under oath (though the DoJ's documents are indexed SO poorly that it's near-impossible to find anything there) that he'd have to withdraw WinBloze from the market (and, I guess, go out of business) if ordered to undertake the Impossibility Of Removing Internet Exploiter. To back down from that position would open him up to perjury accusations. Don't hold your breath.
I'd keep looking, and (hopefully) find where he actually says this, were it not for the tendancy of The Emperor's very weaselly testimony to make me physically ill. He doesn't know what a browser is ("uh, it's kinda part of an OS, right?"), he doesn't understand how software of any kind (Browsers or OSsen) might be distributed, he doesn't remember _ever_ sending or receiving _any_ email, he has NO CLUE how the PC software market works (despite his public statements that he created it), except that there're all those terrible competitors out there that hate M$, and want its marketshare. oOps - "marketshare, what's that?" He doesn't understand how _anyone_ could accuse him af aything unethical, much less illegal. They're just jealous, because "a few people choose" to use Windoze, and all those "anti" websites badmouthing him just can't stand that.
Puh-lease.
You're sure, again, that he didn't purchase evil, outright?
Maybe he just bought the _licensing_ rights, with Satan retaining the copyright.
Yeah. That sounds more likely. -

Pardon my overzealous submission: that link should have been BBSpot.com.

BBSpot! Satire for smart people, the truth for you
Here's the orignal article.

Majority now!
I wish more people used it
We could do something about it if someone implemented MajorityNow:
Surfs while your computer is idle to increase the browser usage stats for Firefox.
It was meant as a joke, but I think it could be done for real and it would make a difference in website statistics: I'd run it 24/7 on my office computer and I wouldn't be the only one. -
There's already an ipod for that
:p

Re:Not only that.
They only hired the evil ones.

Majority now!
In order to get more marketshare we need to get more attention.
Someone please implement MajorityNow:
Surfs while your computer is idle to increase the browser usage stats for Firefox.
I know it was only a joke, but it might help making a difference. I 'd leave it running 24/7 on my company machine.

It Removes Internet Explorer!
I don't see what's wrong with it? Microsoft's AntiSpyware Tool Removes Internet Explorer!

Ineffective? Are you so sure?
I think it's great. Nooo, definitely no sarcasm here. uh-uh.

Re:It obviously meansMy bad... of course, being Canadian, I don't really have to care since exactly where those principles are established isn't really relevant compared to the ways in which the US government operationally implements them.
It'll be interesting watching the people exercise the right to alter or abolish a government destructive of those ends, live on CNN. Of course, we might not be allowed to watch it up here due to the CRTC and lack of Canadian content such a rebellion would entail, despite Canada having just purchased the rights to "Land of the Free" from the US...

Re:Why does /....
Well, the first thing Sony did wrong was the name PSP... we all know that P_P names are subject to humour like this PHP one
The second mistake was taking on nintendo in the Portable market. The Nintendo DS is going to have Goldeneye With 16 player multiplay. DS could be compatable with wireless internet hotspots, that never really took off, but they still have them.
Oh and battery life... the PSP has a measly 2 hours or less, compared to the DS's 8 hour life.
The DS is here, it's selling out at most retailers, and it has many features that the PSP will never have. And when it comes to pricing wars, nintendo could easily afford to always keep the DS at least 50+ dollars below the PSP. If they thought the PSP was a threat at $180 they could even decide to drop the DS to $100 as soon as they thought the PSP needed to be crushed. -
Re:Me first post very OT
This wouldn't happen to be you, then?

Re:Why pay him off?
Couldn't they just have arranged an "accident" for him?
Why didn't he send his army of evil monkeys after him and the CCIA? -
Increasing Firefox usage statistics
One of BBSpot's tongue-in-cheek Top 11 Firefox extensions:
MajorityNow - Surfs while your computer is idle to increase the browser usage stats for Firefox.
Should not be too hard to implement. :) -
Re:A new low.
Funny you should mention that.

Re:Freezing hard disks
All freezing does is slow down the electrons. I've had lots of success with old hard disks (pre-1996) when the electronics was still quite buggy. Seriously, I'm using my old Conner CP-30100 scsi drive on an Amiga right now.
Another fun instance of frozen hard drives resides at BBSpot.com Labs - Ice -
Re:Oh the irony

Way too near fetched
Heh. BBSpot just took the next logical step, software that does all your shopping for you automatically based on your income and Amazon purchase history. I'm hoping this one remains satire for a little while.

Re:Uhm.."You are Apple Dos. Simple and primitive with a good understanding of the common man. You're still a work in progress, but a good start."
[eyeing heap of machines that run M$DOS, DRDOS, and/or random species of Win32, and one Mandrake box]
I'm not sure, but I think I've just been insulted!![finds their other quiz Which File Extension are You?, tries that instead]
"You are
.html -- You are versatile and improving, but you do have your limits. When you work with amateurs it can get quite ugly."[Goes back, inserts HTML tags in post]
That's more like it! -
Re:Slackware?
This looks just like some attempt to poke fun at sterotypes -- "debian users always count in binary", w.t.f?!?
More entertaining by far might be something like this, aka. the "what OS are you" quiz which was previously mentioned on slashdot. -
Uhm..
Oh please, this is just as reliable as the Which OS Are you? quiz.
-
Tagentially related ...
... is BBSpot's OS Quiz.

What's so hard about sex people?
> > Older gamers don't need sex in advertisements because they can have real sex any time.

What the hell is wrong with you people! Sex is not that hard! Occasionally even a Linux developer can get laid. I know that this is only an anegdotal evidence. Do you want HOWTO? Here it is: Sex Tips For Ugly Virgin Losers by Eric S. Raymond himself (ESR of OSI, I kid you not). If he can get laid using those tips, so does everyone in the freakin universe.
Moderators: please mod this post up so every slashdotter could get laid today!
