Double check your security settings...
I found out the hard way when I did a half ass job at setting up Joomla! and not updating to the latest security patches. My website got redirected to a Russian website and the password to the database was scrambled. Had to redo everything. Make sure you enable FTP security, have a complex password for your admin/ftp/database accounts, and check your file permissions. Haven't had a problem since then.

Re:Two words:
Aren't you a little old to be fucking around in community college?
Do I go to the state university to earn a BS (that's a Bachelor in Science) in Computer Science, take out $40,000 in student loans to go to school fulltime without working, may still be too old to get a job when I do get the BS and be in debt for the rest of my life? Or do I go back to the community college to earn an AS (that's an Associate in Science) in Computer Programming, earn my certifications (A+, Network+, MCP), have my schooling paid by the federal government via a tax credit as I work full time in the industry, and graduate without any long term debt? To answer your question, no.
BTW, I never went to high school. After two years of working in construction with my Dad, I went to an adult high school to get my G.E.D. and they told me to go to the community college since I blew out their qualification exam. It took me four years to get my first associate degree in General Ed.
Anyways, I suggest you look into getting some counseling, to get to the root of why you feel the need to use defenseless children as punching bags. I don't think you're really concerned with "discipline" or anything to do with their well-being. Were you abused by your own parents growing up? Bullied by your peers? Humiliated by girls? Whatever happened in your past, get some professional help. (and, yes, lose some weight.)
I been seeing a personal counselor for the last year at school. I took care of a roommate for four years who died of Lou Gerhig's Disease in 2000, and my Mom died from breast cancer in 2004. Both of these events deeply affected me. According to my counselor, I'm just a perfectly normal human being now as I been expressing myself through artwork. Be sure to check my website next week when I post pictures of my ceramic self-portrait that I completed this semester. I also been going to the gym for the last five years. :)
So how do you figure that I equate "Spanking = Punching Bag" or discipline with physical abuse? I certainty hope weren't trying to make ad hominem arguement by searching my website for dirt. Only an Anonymous Coward would be that stupid. :P -
Re:Old fashioned
I'm still trying to figure out how Dreamweaver CS3 works too and waiting for the doorstopper books to explain the advance features. My website was hand coded to use a template and a lot of PHP code to pull the content from the MySQL database. I want to do a "clean room" design to ditch the crud that had built up over the last ten years. My impression so far is that I might be better off to stay with TextWrangler and hand code the whole thing over again.

Sounds familiar...
I guess that's what the plumber downstairs had in mind when trying to unblock a clog with water that shot straight up the common wall pipe and out of my kitchen sink to flood the floor.

Disposing spam...
If I haven't eaten it...
[Please insert wow ur fat joke here.]
I put the spam into the trash, tie the top of the trash bag, and throw trash bag into the dumpster outside. I don't know what the fuss is about disposing spam. Spam is spam. :P -
Re:Atari... Still there...
If you want to know what titles I was responsible for, check out my resume. Temple of Elemental Evil was not my bomb, it wasn't even QA's bomb. It was one of those titles that had to ship so the company could make the quarterly numbers. In the strange world of financial numbers, it's better to ship the product and have it DOA in the marketplace instead screwing the quarterly numbers to have a product that does well in the marketplace. As usual, QA got blamed for the title not doing well even though we shouted at everyone that the title was DOA.

A website as an ongoing programming project...
I been going to school part-time for the last five years to learn computer programming. I keep myself sharp by using my website as an ongoing programming project. I'm learning Python (which isn't taught at my school) so I can implement some heavy duty admin stuff for the backend. Once your website been up for a while and you have a good amount of programming invested, you start to learn how difficult "legacy" code can be and that maintance/upgrades may involve some painful decisions.

Re:OH SNAP!!! It's the Vista Police....
I have excellant karma. I posted with my real name (first initial, last name). I'm not an anonymous coward since my website is in my sig. You, sir, totally missed that and have no sense of blue screen humor. Lame.
FWIW, I've been running Mac OS X for the last eight months and this is the OS that Windows Vista is copying from. Your cluelessness strikes deep. -
My website sucks on this browser...
Downloaded it into my cell phone, ran it, went to my website, and was unimpressed by the browser. Now I'll probably get a bill for using the internet access on my cell phone. Oh, joy.

About time... :P
If you feel you are being vilified unfairly by Slashdot readers, please respond and set the record straight.
For the record, I'm not a fat, gay Republican. I'm a fat, ugly Republican. Huge difference! I seriously need to update my Slashdot F.A.Q. -
Consistent CSS...
I just modified the CSS file for my website to fix all the crazy bugs in IE6. Loaded up Vista in a VM to take a look at IE7 and all the bugs are still there. Microsoft could have gotten their CSS support to be consistent between versions, or, better yet, correctly display validated XHMTL like everyone else. Honestly, I wish I could kick IE6/7 goodbye.

Re:Abnormality...
I guess I need to add gay references to my Slashdot F.A.Q..

Re:It's not the eyes, but the brain
Or create a website as an ongoing programming project. Adding new features, maintaining current code, and rewriting code where necessary. There's nothing more horrifying than trying to figure out what you wrote six months to a year ago. I'm currently learning Python as a new language to know and figuring out if a Python-based web framework would be a good approach to building the admin backend that I was too lazy to write during the summer.
-
Re:Sir, you are gay.
So you don't have a problem with an HP investigator sending an spyware email to a journalist to find out who's talking to whom?
On the flip side, this is the first time someone called me "gay". I usually get called "fat"! Kiss my F.A.Q. -
Re:For the record...
Blah... If I want a PC to play games, I would build one. I wouldn't get a Dell.

CSS Encryption...
I didn't know Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) supports encryption?! It's good to know that my website is now secured.

The Good Old Days...
I used my school loan money to get the Wildcat! 4 BBS software, a faster modem and a second phone line for my souped up IBM AT computer in 1995. I had this weird idea -- probably from reading too many issues of Boardwatch -- that I could go into business while still a college student. Then this thing called the Internet crashed the market and I got kicked out of the university. (I'm sure playing Magic: The Gathering and Risk with my roommates until three in the morning had nothing do with me being tossed out.) I was a dotcom bust before there was a dotcom to go bust on. The only thing left of my BBS ten years later is the name that I'm using for my website.

Whiz Kids...
When I kid in the early 1980's, I always wanted something like the main Whiz Kids room with multiple tables, electronic gear and wires strung all over the place. As an adult, I prefer my room to be neater for more practical reasons like vacuuming the floor. Some of those killer dust bunnies can put up a fight.

Sometimes I'm funny, sometimes not, and occasionally I'm "ballsy".
:) But most people think my Slashdot F.A.Q. is funny. -
Just how much more web standards compliant is it?
So IE7 Beta 3 for Windows XP is any more web standards compliant than the last version? I found it ironic that IE7 for Windows Vista displayed my website correctly.

Re:Really?
Last thing I need in a game is lingerie ads. While I may play young sexy female with a sniper rifle in some games, I'm just a fat and ulgy male gamer in real life. Besides, I hate G-strings.

Re:Forcing Next Gen.
If you were a gamer, you'd already have this "hefty hardware".
I guess six years in the video game industry doesn't count? (See my profile or my resume.) My current machine does support Vista but I'm in no rush to upgrade since I switched to a Mac. :P
If you were just a normal person rather than a troll, you'd have enough "normal hardware" to run Vista anyways.
Sure... if you like a slow computer system. I seen reports where machines with 256MB of memory will be Vista-ready even though you need 1GB or more.
Back to the topic, Xbox is dead. Yes, it's dead. It's done its time.
Maybe, maybe not. Sony kept the PS1 around longer than six months after the PS2 came out, and may do the same for the PS2 after the PS3 comes out. Follow the money... Microsoft needs upgraders more than the upgraders need them. -
Re:Airplane 2006.9999: The Bandwidth Sucks
You must've seen my Slashdot F.A.Q.
:P
It's unlikely that a plane will crash because of me since I'm too cheap to buy two extra-small seats that a lot of airliners are now installing as "normal" seating. -

Re:Get a gym membership...
I walk 2MPH when I'm on the treadmill. If I try to run, I'll probably blow out my knee caps since I'm a big guy.

Re:Maybe
All I'm suggesting is that Microsoft could use this as an excuse to get developers to switch over to newer technologies that could bring in more money. Adobe is doing the same by withholding a Universal patch for Photoshop to get everyone to spend money upgrading to the next release. When you got companies depending on regular upgrades to maintain a revenue stream, they will use any excuse to shake down users for an expensive upgrade.
As to why my crap keeps getting modded up, check out my Slashdot F.A.Q. :P -

PHP/CSS and Safari (MAC)...
Does anyone know how to get around a PHP/CSS bug in Safari? On my website, I use a include statement to bring content into the center column of the template. The CSS formatting does not show up in the center column on Safari and only plain text appears. The page displays fine in Firefox (PC/MAC) and IE (PC - more or less). Google doesn't have any suitable workarounds. Any ideas?

Poor Man RAID does the job...
I just recently upgraded the case on my Linux Software RAID setup (see pictures). At some point in the future, if I have the money, I can get six 500GB drives for a 2.5TB RAID 5. As it is, I'm content with 80GB RAID 1 for now, but will be adding a third controller card and 80GB drive for a 160GB RAID 5 in about six months.

Stupid Web Tricks From The 90s...
... stupid Web tricks of the late 90s that allowed animated unicorns to follow your cursor or silly Powerpoint-like transitions between Web pages.
Wow! I been running my website since 1998 and I never came across a web book with stupid web tricks like that. Did I missed something? -

Was This Unexpected?
You have to question the L.A. Times reserach into this project if they weren't expecting it to be mention on
/. and then not expect all the criminal elements from /. to pay them a visit. They may have better luck if they limited themselves to paying subscribers.
This is one reason why I don't have a commentary system on my website. If I did, all the fat-loving AC /. retards would have a field day. I'm fat and ugly, so what? -
Re:Pipe Dream...
Trolls are up late tonight I see.
By the way, Reimer, it's the Snake River Stampede. Christ, not only are you a troll, but your lame-ass web page is totally fucked up.
