Re:Authoritarian countries?
Meanwhile, on the 8th of December last year, a 16 year old was thrown on the ground by police, beaten, and arrested, for yelling "Fuck Trump".

Re:Ah.. another week....
Another week until I do not use this slow browser....
Glad they keep going for diversity sake- but it's a sluggish pile of code. Beloved though it is.
Browser speed has always struck me as slightly irrelevant, when in the majority of cases it is the fault of the websites, when things are slow. Although there is one case where it is definitely something about Firefox: Try to load http://www.dr.dk/nyheder/ (Denmark's Radio - "the Danish BBC" if you are kind) - it loads fast enough, but the whole browser freezes for ~10 sec when you scroll down; loading the same page in Konqueror (yes, there are some that use it) displays none of these problems. I have no idea why.
But the real problems, for me at least, are: 1) The tendency in Firefox to switch to https when you activate Javascript, and then being unable to load the page, and 2) The increasing number of unwanted features, like embedded search engines that cannot be disabled and similar. I hate it when I mistype an address and get an idiotic search result from Google, Yahoo or whatever; all I want is an error message.

3,5 years prison
Read and translate the full story here:
http://www.dr.dk/Nyheder/Viden...- below is a Google Translation of the top of the article [with my edits]:
It was respectively 3.5 years in prison and six months in prison for the two men who yesterday was found guilty in the case of the large hacker attacks against CSC two years ago.
Swedish Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, who received the longest judgment, and a 21-year-old Danish man has always [pleaded not guilty] in the case, but the court chose yesterday to reject Wargs explanation that his computer had been remotely [controlled] while the attacks were on.
Warg was yesterday found guilty of hacking and vandalism, while the 21-year-old alone convicted of involvement in hacking. Today took the court [decided] on the penalty.
Warg was also sentenced to deportation from Denmark and got entry ban. He must also pay the cost of technical assistance for the part concerning himself. The 21-year-old received the judgment. Warg chose to appeal to the High Court.

Re:Don't...just don't
Having once attended 9th grade in Denmark, I expect they are aware of basic scientific principles
... like control samples, reproducible setups etc..Then you're gonna love this.

Plates close to routers were placed on a wooden surface. Control group was placed on plastic sheets. They also failed to maintain an undisturbed atmosphere - they were watering them unevenly, spilling water around.
Plastic does not soak up the water. It keeps it there, releasing it back in the air around the plants, like a pebble tray would. Also, from that other PDF linked in the article, there is a row of laptops right in front of the "router group".
Laptops tend to blow air out the back. Hot air.And then there's that bit where they start of the experiment with a forgone conclusion.

Actually... yes it did germinate.
So, you see, there is actually no cress for them to measure. It never germinated.
Take a look at the photo:
http://www.dr.dk/imagescaler/?file=%2FNR%2Frdonlyres%2FBE4CAC3A-4A0E-42CF-9ACB-69325246A40F%2F5130743%2Fdb6ac36f2c8248a1b782e25f61f5bfb2_Karse_udsat_for_t.jpeg&w=460&h=259&scaleAfter=cropSee those green bits on the edge of the plate?
Yeah, I know... it's kinda small... But it's there. You can't deny it's there. Also, from the not-so-fine translation:
And the result spoke his clear language: cress seeds next to the router was not grown, and some of them were even mutated or dead.
Mutated? How does something mutate if it does not grow?
Oh! I know! It's sensationalist BULLSHIT.
SOME the fucking plants withered cause they were exposed to heat and placed on a different kind of surface (wood instead of plastic sheets - one of those two gathers and condenses loose moisture they where spilling all over).
BOTH groups germinated just fine. One was kept hotter and with less moisture.http://www.dr.dk/NR/rdonlyres/075641A4-F4D4-4ECF-834F-C0DAF2B8E1E1/5134835/Finaleposter24apr2013.pdf
Those girls should be failed, made to return the money and both them and the so-called journalists making this a slashdot-hitting news should apologize to everyone on at least 5 international TV channels and over the internet FOR LYING!
And the news agency should buy everyone a pony! -

More information
Here is some additional information directly from DR, the Danish state television company (who thinks it is perfectly ok to rip people off, and force them to pay TV license fees even if they don't own a TV set and never watch TV).

Re:Real issue: when are kids a "target group"
I can't seem to find any contact information on you, so:
The http://dr.dk/oline site is part for danish national television and has some really nice flash games, suitable for small kids, I'm been playing them with my oldest since he was a couple of years old.
The same with the BBC site http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/ - there's something for all ages here. Including simple stuff like Teletubbies for the youngest. I've spend to many hours there to mention, with him sitting my lap.
Mostly lots of fun, even if some of it can get quite boring. Just look at your kids face and if they are having fun you can probably take 10 more minutes of it...
The best part of these sites, are that they are closed systems. No Ads, no links to external sites. You do not risk that they end up at something "bad" if you leave them alone with the computer for a while... -
Re:Meanwhile in Denmark...
When looking for a link, I was shocked to see a new development in this case: Yesterday the ISP in question announced that they decided not to appeal as they had announced they would, and all other major danish ISPs have started blocking allofmp3.com too.
You can read more about this in danish at Piratgruppen.
The court decision is available in PDF format in danish here, and I found an unofficial english translation of the conclusion of the court decision here.
Further analysis of the court decision in danish can be found here.

Denmark forbids internet.
A lttle more on AllofMP3.
A court in Kopenhagen (Fogderetten) has now delivered its verdict (Oktober 25 2006) between IFPI and the Danish ISP Tele2, where IFPI wanted to force Tele2 to block AllofMP3.
This court verdict (21 pages PDF in Danish) is quite suprising, not that it forces Tele2 to block access to Allofmp3.com, but rather how the verdict does it. Among other things the court says (transladed to english below):
The court finds
.... that also the temporary fixation of the work in the form of electronic impulses, that goes on in the routers while transmitting the data packets over the internet, is covered by the 2 in copyright law. This means that the court ruling finds that Tele2 are unlawfully making copies while routing their customers communication. So they are not directly forced to block information from Allofmp3.com, they are found to be making "pirate copies" when doing their job of directing communication on the internet, that is what a router does, and internet cannot function without it. This basicly means that this court has forbidden the internet in denmark, since an ISP can be held responsible for its customers communication. This goes also for modern mobile communication too, since a mobile phone also can be used to unlawfully communicate otherwise allredy published and not stamped with secrecy information. It is a lot like if the old telephone company had been held responsible for what its customers said on the phone. Tele2 has appealed this ruling.

NEWS: Minister of state rejects the storyFrom danish radio
The minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen rejects that Bill Gates the founder of the biggest software company in the world have threatened him by closing Navision and moving the 800 developers of Denmarks greatest software succes to the US.
He hasn't done this on any meeting with me. I cannot confirm this way of putting, not at all. We haven't spoken about this, not at all, says Anders Fogh Rasmussen to Ritzau.
The rejection by the minister of state arrives after last tuesday when the newspaper "Børsen" told of a threat given by Bill Gates in November on a meeting with Anders Fogh Rasmussen, minister of economy and commerce Bendt Bendtsen and minister of science Helge Sander.
Apparently the threat were to become reality if parts of the IT-branch succeeded in blocking a controversial EU-directive about software patents, which has been delayed time after time by the effective lobby work of the opponents.
Sorry about my horrible english

Not only TV2!
Denmark's largest television channel, TV2, reported on the release of Mozilla Firefox 1.0.
Am I the only Dane who noticed that the Danish public service channel DR had a news spot about Firefox too?
In fact, shortly after 1.0PR they even added the appropriate RSS-link info to the news section on their site, so people can easily create Live Bookmarks, with just a few mouse clicks.

Re:in the UK
Its pretty much the same in the nordic contries which also push pretty hard for DAB. I know DR(Denmarks Radio) have 14 DAB channels alone and they have around 98% coverage in Denmark.
And if you don't know what DAB is, then here is explanation for you: What is DAB? -

Very bad sound unfortunately. -
Good to see real new sources - AP, Reuters, etc. It's good to see real (primary) news sources cited like the Associated Press article above. Rather than continuing Slashdot's fixation with|patronage of MSNBC, which is usually just a digest of other news services like Reuters, AP, and UPI.
Why let MSNBC filter your news? These others are one step closer to the source.
If you don't have access to Clarinet (which you should) then you can check via the web:
There are also many excellent non-English sources as well: Denmark's P2, Norway's NRK and others.(AFP don't count - spelling, grammar, and factual errors. NYT - heavy circulation does not a good news source make. )

happened in Copenhagen at least...
I have no clue about the CNN footage, but in Copenhagen, Denmark, there were in fact palestinians celebrating (and the Danish PM said: "It is distasteful, unacceptable and inhuman").
As Pheobe from friends says: "I don't want to be all judgemental, but it's wrong. Sick and wrong". -
