Faraday Cage?
If you have a microwave you know exactly how to build one. The freq. that a microwave functions at is damn near spot on 2.4 GHz so all you need is several rolls of metal window screen where the mesh size is the same as your microwave.
Oh Yah, you also need to make sure that it is well grounded, you can tie directly to the ground lug of any triple prong outlet, or steam pipe, etc.

No.....No, the numbering system is not random, its just absurd.=) I mean really, Final Fantasy X-2? When will the madness stop?!
-
Just because.......Um, just because ways might exist to get around the Xbox mod checks does not mean its "futile". Anything that reduces the amount of cheaters is a good thing.

ahemJust wanted to point out that these censorship policies don't apply anymore. This is what Nintendo used before the ESRB was around. Nintendo does very little censoring of games anymore (except maybe 1st party games).
-
Well..Many people will run notebook CPU's in desktops, since they run much cooler and can be overclocked well.

Paypal....Almost all of the top power sellers on eBay use PayPal. In fact I have a guide to selling on eBay book and it says when selling on eBay, you should only accept PayPal because its the least problamatic. If PayPal was so bad then all these powersellers would not be using it. Its really easy to read a few horror stories and not get the big picture. Fact is, 99 percent of the people have had no issues with PayPal. Go look at the Better Business Bureau rating of Pay Pal and you will see that its rated very highly.

No.....In my experience, most people who get spyware don't even know how they got it. Should you really have to read through a huge 20 page EULA everytime you install software (or an ActiveX control) just so you can find one sentence where it mentions "this will install spyware". Thats absurd to expect people to do that. Some of it even installs itself on to your computer by taking advantage of a security hole in the browser, so their is no EULA. Of course legislating spyware won't stop it totally but at least it will reduce it.

Hmmm. The problem with Palms and Pocket PC's for GPS use is that they are not very outdoor proof. Also, the button layout is not very convenient. If you want a good, fairly low priced GPS I recommend the Garmin Quest. You can get it for around 500.

Well....I beat Metroid Prime on hard my first time through (someone else had already unlocked it).=)

Haha.HAHAHA........ Oh this is serious.........=/

Heh.I have always said that optical media is a poor choice for portables (long before the PSP was announced). Optical media will ALWAYS reduce the battery life greatly because the motor sucks batteries dry. In fact Sony is so worried about battery life that they have battery life estimator software, so that developers will make sure that games don't eat up to much of the PSP's battery. So load times will be longer because developers have to limit how often the disc is accessed. =/ Battery life is very important for portables, and we don't really need FMV and tons of voice acting and CD quality sound in portable games. Save all that for the home consoles.
-
Eh."Exactly. What I find strange is that we're talking about the idea of improving "efficiency" on the battlefield as if it's a good thing. War should be difficult. It shouldn't be a cakewalk to go in and kill a bunch of people. Killing people, especially innocent civilians, SHOULD be difficult, if not because your conscience is stopping you, then maybe because the technology has problems, or it's not practical.." D00d, I think your missing something. The more advanced technology we have, the less chance another country wants to go to war with us.=) Also, things like GPS and laser guided bombs greatly reduce civilian casulties. Oh, and EMP bombs, those are fun. =)
-
Well.....Gah, can't we talk about something interesting besides arguing about the war.
:p Anywaaaaaaay, saying that the technology "failed" is a little silly. Sure everything might not have worked flawlessly but in many situations I am sure it helped greatly. I am sure I could find many articles which show success stories due to the increased communication. Also, in a full scale war where we (the USA) would be fighting a more advanced country, wireless communication could actually be jammed so the military still needs to be able to coordinate attacks without becoming to dependant on wireless communication. -

What's with all the open-sourcing of Microsoft stuff lately?
Aren't these the guys who said open source harms innovation and damages the economy? Can't have it both ways, guys.

I'll believe it when:News like this comes out every other month, but the reality is that we're at least a decade of from storage like that on an optical disk.

Parody?
Okay, this makes Lucas look like an enormous ass. But, oh, wait, that's long since been established. We already know that Lucas likes to tell Star Wars fans where they can shove their opinions, so he's not really losing anyone's respect here. If Episode II didn't piss you off, Episode I did... if it wasn't the prequels, it was the remastering or the remastering of the remastering...
But I digress.
This brings up the question are parodies fair use? And if so, should copyright holders be allowed to order people not to parody their work?
No--this brings up the question, "What constitutes a parody?"
There's a lot of precedent for parodies being protected under fair use. And certainly, copyright holders should not be allowed to order people around with regard to parodies.
I think the real issue here is, the parody in question employs a public screening of Lucas' films. It would clearly be a protected parody if the movie were re-shot or acted out live. But actually putting on a public screening of the film--even with sound replaced--is not quite so clear cut a situation.
Maybe we'll get lucky and this will go to court and we'll get a favorable ruling. But it probably won't make it so far.

over manufacturing
IMHO It's just more lax production quality standards.
I *think* there are more dead pixels per 1000 units now than there were just a few years ago. I don't know many with an LCD that didn't ship with one. All brands. I don't remember that just a short while ago.
I personally would perfer some better quality. Ideally give me a choice: 0 dead pixel guarantee and I'll pay extra. If I don't care, I'll take the damaged goods and pay less.
I just don't think it's fair to be paying so much for damaged goods. These dead pixels are annoying. And you often need several to qualify for a replacement, regardless of position on the screen.

All --AOL--TW employees have them.
After pestering employees with these damn things, AOL thought it would be wise to charge customers for the same pain in the ass.
I hate these stupid things. Keep them on your keychain, and you know it's going to break, and your going to have login problems. Don't keep it on your keychain, and you know you'll forget, and be unable to login. No matter what, you loose.
I won't say they are ineffective, since they do work. But they are the biggest pain in the butt.
Couldn't stand having it. What a drag.
Oh, and guess how many people loved using AOL mail in the workplace: None. Can you imagine this sinaero:
You sign on, do your work, leave for the day. Come back in, and AOL for some reason signed you off (happens every so often). Uh Oh... forgot the SecurID... no email for the day!

There's a hidden google job application testSteps:
- Visit http://www.google.com
- Select text field, and enter 'google job'
- Press 'I'm feeling lucky' button
If you can google it, it can be yours.
Here's how I tell people how to contact me:
- Go to google
- Enter 'make love to Robert Accettura'
- Press 'I'm feeling lucky'
That simple. To bad the ladies don't love that.

Re:First Post!
I'm getting so sick of this. Why can't we just decide on a method of getting rid of spam and stick to it? I recently registered a domain name, and the mailbox was full of spam THE VERY FIRST TIME I checked my email. I hadn't given the new email addy out to anyone yet. When are government bodies going to wake up and realize that we have a serious issue on our hands?

As everyone have probably heard, there are 2 sites, 1 offering Free Flat Screen TVs, and 1 offering Free I-pods. Basically you sign up and complete one offer, and get 8 people to complete an offer as u as the referrer.
**Heres the trick** When they ask you to signup for a service, signup for the one free month of Netscape. Once you complete the signup, call netscapes 800 number and cancel your account, and you wont get billed a dime. 1-866-541-8233 is the 800 number. I got credit for the complete and so did the other people I have told about this.

Re:Finally, the Americans start to get it.
Actually, if you leave it to the corps backed by the gov. using restrictive patents they'll rob you blind. If you leave it to the corps, with reasonably limited patents, you'll (arguably) end up with faster innovation and lower cost for the technology.

The most recent thing I saw for the ipod was a site that was giving them away, free. They require you to sign up with a 'free' offer (music, book, movie clue, etc.) and get five others to do the same. They are paid a bounty by those companies for the people they get to sign up.

e r=7408424 All you have to do is refer 8 friends and complete an offer. This is easy because one of the offers has to do with eBay. Just sign up for a new eBay account. If you allready have one just sign up for a new one. Then bid on something you know you are going to loose, or bid on something you want to buy. Then they will confirm your offer and send you a free flatscreen. This actually works. My friend at work just got his. Note: Don't sign up on their site with a Hotmail account. For some reason you can't get the confirmation email.
