Growth is Slowing...
The low price growth in China is finally starting to slow, but profit margins are continuing to rise. Companies like SINA Corp have profit increases of nearly 350% for this year alone. China is an inevitable sector of growth in the world economy, which may change a lot of global commerce in the coming years. However, those who have got in early have benefitted greatly. Recent stock analysis on companies like SINA are still looking to much brighter futures, which can only increase profit for Microsoft.

Howto Promote and Affiliate Program?
I started an affiliate program on my site about a month ago. Now, i have 1000 users and out of those 1000 i only have 2 people giving me referral sign ups. I pay $0.50/signup so i do not think the monetary cost/signup is to low.
What are some suggestions to get my site more affiliates?
Thanks,

Apple and Bluetooth
The only reason that i purchased another Sony Ericsson phone after having the T68i was because of BlueTooth. Apple is a big supporter of Bluetooth as well so my T616 and G4 Powerbook integrated perfectly. I guess this will be my last Ericsson phone now. Time to go for the Treo 650 with bluetooth around XMAS time.

Simply put..
Third party notifications will cause Google to loose money on their adsense revenue. Simply put, if i was in google's position I would do something similar. Coincidently, some sites, like mine, rely on adsense revenue in order to stay online/stay as a free service. Thankfully, adsense pays well enough by people visiting a site and clicking on a link that it is a viable solution if you have a target audience (like the stock market or whatever).
I've also heard rumors of people making $50/click off of adsense which is absurd! Hence, why Google wants every dime they can get! -
Ellison vs. Gates
Someday, I hope that Larry Ellison has the sweet taste of victory over Gates. Although, he did get too feel that "pleasure center" of his brain tweaked once in the late 90's when Oracle's stock price overtook that of MSFT.

The All in One Gadget
Soon, cell phones will be our only portable electronic. They will have mp3 capability, huge 100GB+ flash cards, now TV, and probably an output port. Connect the output port upto a docking station, and you'll be good to go.
The other good thing about this is for Wall St. professionals, they can now watch CNBC/Bloomberg from their phones while in transit. -

Movement Beyond Internet and Market Cap
Google's adsense technology will ultimately grow outside of the Internet realm and include instant advertising during movies, tv shows, billboards, etc. Imagine that you are watching a movie on NBC without commercials, but whenever someone says the word "soda" an ad streams across for Coke/Pepsi. Maybe Google will grow into that realm of advertising.
Second, as reported on my website Google's stock price is still fairly attractive from a P/E basis. If Google stays on track to grow for the rest of the year, Google should be valued more than Yahoo, which could mean the stock should still be attractive above $100.
Just my thoughts,

Rumors and Poker
I heard a rumor awhile back about Microsoft purchasing Nintendo, does anyone have any links relating to this?
Also, their patent is for "league gaming" et al., and it may be possible to apply that methodology to online poker rooms. Is it possible that the patents will cover certain types of online gambling as well as actual games?

Calling it Right
My own analysis that was posted on GroupShares.com valued Google at $80/share back a few weeks ago. I'm pretty happy with the analysis that I performed. Maybe GOOG will close at this price today.

Truly A Help
I've used Craig's List in order to seek investment capital for a new company. I've received more responses from my posting on the list then any other attempt.
Does anyone have any statistics on the amount of page views or posts per day?

hey spammer, scam somewhere else
why does every single post of yours on slashdot mention your shitty pump and dump stock scam ?
why are you really here on slashdot ? perhaps you would do better if you concentrated on your portfolio's selection rather than spam people with pump and dump scams , maybe the authorities should take a closer look at you

Problems..
Im stuck using WAP when im on the road for monitoring stock trades for my company, but the reaction times/load times are just ridiculous. 5 minutes to load one page.. jesus. If reaction times were instant but data speeds were slow, im sure a lot more people would join on the WAP bus. Second, the cost. AT&T charges damn close to $7 for 1 meg of transfer per month, that will never sell the the consumer audience.

Re:Apple being Microsoft?
Bill Gates is a very sharp/shrewd business man and that is why he took Microsoft as high as he did. As far as being an innovator/programmer I do not respect him, but his skills at business are nearly unrivaled in the history of the market.

Good-Google Bad-Yahoo
Like most people ready for the Google IPO, I am expecting the IPO to come in at the low end of the range. By Google giving common shares as payment, Google is not going to be hurt by the deal only the investors. It is almost like $200-$300M of investors money will be used to pay for this lawsuit right away. Even more reasons for us day traders to short the hell out of GOOG.

No Purpose?
As a trader myself, I have seen the message boards of my company have been on fire over the past months regarding Google. there is really no purpose to the IPO. For one, Google has enough money to do what they need to do. What is this influx of capital going to be used for besides making the shareholders more rich?
Second, why are they demanding share prices in the $100 range when Ebay/Yahoo (company's with more value) are priced significantly less than that?
Seems like it is a good get-rich off-of wall st. quick scheme that could piss even more investors in America off if the price drops like a rock.
I for one as a day trader, will not be purchasing GOOG for a long time.

Treo!
I recently switched to a Treo as I need net 24/7 in order to trade Stocks. So, i picked up a treo, and i love the thing. Sadly, I wish i would've waited for the bluetooth model, which is coming out in December (i think). Then it will be ebay time for this puppy.

Encouraging
Different work places have different work ethics. I work for a certain big company in SiValley, and I run a stock company on the side. Since the market closes by 1pm PT, I have at least 5 more hours of work aside from just monitoring the market every morning.
I think that in California this work type of work ethic is enjoyed where as in New York any deviation from work would be reprimanded. Similar to the dress codes as well.

Public Access Locations
Does anyone know the logistics of where they placed the access points? Were they connected to telephone polls or traffic lights? How about weather? Michigan does get snow and if the access points are outside, what type of protection do they have.
Finally, if one access point crashes do the rest break as well?

I was reading Apple's reply in the Wall St. Journal this morning, and Apple mentioned just making the software not play those files by default. However, this would excite the open source community in my mind to "hacking the iPod" for themselves.

Then, i can use my Dual 2.0 G5 with Apple's gorgeous new displays. Yes, i know LCD is bad for gaming, but the new apple monitors are just crazy. At least my "Stock Game" looks good on the monitors.

Annoyed
I am really annoyed that Intel and AMD market these low end procs. Usually for $10 more you can get a similar speed older processor that performs better. Most consumers do not know the difference and they buy junk HP desktops that I used to have to fix every other week.

My Game
Coming from the 2d RPG genre style of FF3 and Secret of Mana, Video Games just don't do it for me anymore. Sure FF7,X were great games, but they don't stick in my mind like my childhood favorites did. As I got older, I found that the stock market can become a game. A very very fun and adicting game that can be played at work or at home.
:) Only now, I can control the game based on my thoughts/ideas/suggestions. This game is now manifesting itself into a company that seems to be doing really well so far.
If you aren't happy with games or have time to play consoles, find something else to enjoy. Maybe it'll make you money so you can have more time to go and use emulators!

Old IBM
If only IBM had something similar to this back in the day. My stupid 75GXP's crapped out after the warranty expired and I suffered 200gigs of data loss. Damn, does anyone know the actual failure rate of those drives?

Movie Reality
This sounds like more of the movie to reality situation like in "The Matrix." I always had a problem with this type of system as it is similar to cheating off an exam in school. Someone can spend years learning something that could be transferred in minutes. Where is the fairness in that?
Second, I definitely would love to have a system where by my thoughts would control my computer. That would be my dream right now.

Similar to having an X-Prize, there should be greater monetary rewards for robot evolution. Ie: a biped robot that can beat a human on a mile stretch, etc. Then, maybe we would see some quicker robot evolution!

At Least It Isn't MS
Since the NSA is releasing security advisories for M$ Products can we expect WiFi to be next? The threat of insecure networks in large companies as well as government agencies should be pretty large. On my commute to work every day in the bay area, I come in contact with hundreds of "free" access points, which are left on because of computer illiteracy.
WiFi 802.11i should solve that though... Sure, it will.

Too Hard to Regulate
If the FCC/NFL is that parnoid about TIVO then they would also have to requisitiona ll video card manufacturers to not include video inputs on their cards. I would assume that most of the information going to computers and then torrent sites are coming from video in cards and not TIVO. On the other hand, I definitely feel bad for advertisers because TIVO could potential hurt their effectiveness, and ads make the world go around. No ads. No Slashdot.

NASA needs to do more to remind Americans of the importance of space to the future of mankind. Things like this that get Nasa's name back in the public eye by showing objects of celestial beauty will hopefully remind people of what is out there.

Easy to do..
This should be very easy to do. Company's like AT&T assign email addresses to cell phones like 15555551101@attws.com or something similar. I am surprised I have not received any text message spam yet as one could easily run a script to email through every number in America *@attws.com for some product.
oops, i said too much.

Overhead Absurd
This is very interesting because the population in Canada is not nearly what India/China come close too. For my company, we can have 20 Indian guys trained and if 10 of them leave we still have 10 more. However, if I goto Canada, I can have 4 Canadians to train and if 2 leave, my project will fail due to not enough resources and/or time to train new hires. While the overall cost savings may be equal, the total amount of resources will be much lower.

Same Trick for Apple Powerbooks
The TiG4 Powerbooks had the same type of firmware 'fix'. I can't find the link to the upgradable firmware, but it doubled the speed of the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-815A. Definitely was a major improvement over the standard 1x DVD burning that came with my powerbook.

I'd be worried about outages caused my storms. Also, i would imagine the data would decay based on electricity in the air.
I think the closest thing to this idea would be to look at the statistics for weather balloons and see how they survive.

It already takes forever for DNS changes to propagate through every network, which can be extremely frustrating when you have a high bandwidth domain. There definitely needs some optimization on the DNS front.

Temperature to Support Life?
What type of organisms can sustain life under such low tempartures? What would be the mean temperature of Saturn's surrounding neighborhood? It seems that if organisms truly are found on Saturn, the space race is going to really pick up speed within the next few years.
Damn, we need "warp drives."
