Re:The story behind the story
I recommend you to study this even more closely, but here are some of the completely unbelievable things in this smear attempt against Assange:
"Their yellowpages site says they have been in business 5 years. http://www.yellowpages.com/hou...
Ok so how many times has this link been shared on reddit? I googled the URL specific to this site, and it's only come up three times. All within the last 24 hours.""This shady dating site claims to be the "ONLY Dating Site to ever partner with the UN Initiative" (Now that's fucking odd...) AND THEY JUST GOT KICKED OUT OF THE UN FIVE DAYS AGO?!?!"
"Todd Hammonds LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/to... (It's fucking nothing) But it does say he lives in SF. I'm in the Bay Area also, I could pay a visit to offices if we can actually find any legitimate offices...
Their Dating Site Eventbrite page. Only one event for the fastest growing dating website that has married 3,000 people since 2011???
Here is the LinkedIn of "Kate Hogan," this is the person who wrote the "Press Release" about ToddAndClare accusing Assange of sexual misconduct. https://www.linkedin.com/in/ka...
Of course she's got only 1 connection, and no other real information anywhere. Also, the phone number listed in the press release rings twice and then immediately disconnects. But it doesn't give a recording, it just says "call failed" I've never really experienced that. Anyway you'd think that someone who just put out a press release regarding the UN and Assange would have a working phone!
http://www.prweb.com/releases/...
Here's their bullshit subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/todda... (No posts in three months)
Here's their weird "book" that they wrote about starting their company 5 years ago. Notice how every review is exactly 189 days old and all are very short and positive. This is shilling no doubt about it. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/...""How can their site, registered 20 sep 2015, claim 3000 marriages by November 2 2015? http://m.imgur.com/6BqmZPY https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=..."
"Thanks to
/u/ChrissFinn for linking the email from Wikileaks that ToddAndClare originally sent to Assange to get all this started. They offer him $1 million dollars to do some sort of commercial. This is obviously a scam because they don't have a million dollars, they don't even have a legitimate mailing address or working fucking phone numbers! This was a set up from the very beginning!"" all users images are cropped and mirrored and can be reverse google image searched to other locations. Plus none of the employees seem to exist. Email between Jullian and T&C.com https://wikileaks.org/IMG/pdf/... -Honeypot to get him to accept russian funds and discredit his leaks, failed, so they accused him of pedophilia instead. When searched for. The ToddandClare business location is actually identical to this company "Premise Data Corporation" https://local.yahoo.com/info-1... Here you can view its team page http://www.premise.com/ourteam... Who's board of directors has guess who "Larry Summers" Who goes by "Lawrence Summers" in "The Center for American Progress" Superpac

Same with Google News. Lately, only Trump bashing or Clinton praising editorials dominate the top stories. But I'm sure it is just a coincidence, after all, Google says trust them and that they are not using their position as a major news aggregator to influence public opinion.

For roughly 3X the cost I could get almost 30X the performance.
Try again when you design systems for specific purposes.
(BTW, note this system has a huge memory bottleneck architecturally [if you bothered to read the spec sheet and understand it.])

I'm starting to question my own reality now.
Did I actually die a few years ago?
Is this some twisted, abstract kind of hell?
Or are these two really the best we could come up with?
I keep thinking "This is the stupid shit I've ever seen, it can't get worse", then something else comes along that shatters that notion.

Re: Impressive spec
Why show how much sea level and vacuum ISPs vary in other hydrocarbon engines? Because they vary that much in all engine, even non-hydrocarbons (same sort of difference in LOX/LH and solids). Methane is not some sort of magical exception to the rule.
Of course it is the case that even a single propellant mixture's performance varies depending on how it's used, but that does not make your comparison of a methane engine to Merlin any more relevant - less relevant, if that's even possible.
Well, well, well...would you look at that?? Sea-level Raptor at sea level has an Isp of 334 s, where the by-you-mentioned Merlin 1D has a sea-level performance of the sea-level version at 282 s, as you claim. And you still claim that the sea-level version of Raptor can't possibly have vacuum Isp in the 360 s range even thought the Raptor practically starts where the RD-17x/18x ends.
No, they cannot. You have no clue whatsoever how the efficiency of the RD-0162 compares to Raptor. Not in the slightest. Which makes it a pointless comparison.
If I can't compare it even to the RD-0162, being the closest performer, then I can't compare it to anything at all and your nonsensical blurb about Raptor not possibly being able to achieve this or that parameter is rendered even more naive.

Keep in mind that the media has been planning to do this to the guy for the last 6mo. If you believe the shit in this article, then you're simply falling for the narrative that they're painting for you. And your critical thinking skills are terribly lacking.

Re:Never attribute to malice ...

Clearly, it is not a driver issue, it's a locked bios issue. The original customer support was correct and higher up levono exes are now lying to the press. -

Re:Never attribute to malice ...
When he complained that he was unable to install Linux, the answer he got was: "This system has a Signature Edition of Windows 10 Home installed. It is locked per our agreement with Microsoft."
And who exactly gave this answer? I think you'll find if you look here that the response was on a Best Buy forum by an unnamed "Lenovo Product Expert" and you're taking this as gospel?
You don't think you might be jumping the gun a bit? Especially when the actual problem is that Linux does not have a driver for the system's RAID controller?
-
Re:Never attribute to malice ...
If the issue was only that Linux lacked drivers for their SSD configuration that wouldn't be a problem (even though a bit of a dick move from their side). The problem is that there was BIOS setting to change the configuration from RAID to AHCI, but this setting was locked down. The person had to go through some pretty heroic lengths to unlock it.
Not having a Linux driver? That's explainable by stupidity.
Not having a legacy compatibility mode? Could have been explained by stupidity if it were the case.
Having a legacy compatibility mode, but making it inaccessible without a soldering iron? That's just malice. And frankly, if the company is even considering locking down the BIOS like this, it shows that they have a very weird idea about who owns the damn laptop, and they're never getting my money.

Re:You Mispelled "Bradley Manning"
You're not special enough to get a free pass.
I guess I'm not a "protected class" with special privileges.
Are you also going to say that transsexual women shouldn't use the women's washroom because that's a "special privilege"? That would also require transsexual mentlike these to use the same bathroom as women and girls. Do you really want to go up to any of these guys and say they're just women who had their boobs cut off? Or that they have to pee in the women's bathroom?
Some of them still have vaginas, which just goes to show that sex is more than what's between the legs.
It's not even a question of "protected class." Go up to any woman and keep addressing her as a man, using male names and pronouns. Or vice versa for any man. Everyone has the right not to be subject to your brand of harassment, whether they're transsexual or not.
you have a gut revulsion to all transsexuals
True enough, as I'm sure most men do when they're not being politically correct. What percentage of men do you think would date or marry a transsexual?
Many men would, many men do. They aren't acting out of political correctness. Plus, you can't always tell that someone's a transsexual. As in the movie "transamerica" where one character said "We walk among you." It's a real hoot to watch men make fools of themselves dissing Caitlyn Jenner to someone they always knew as a woman and didn't know she used to be a man.
There's also the phenomenon of "trans-fans" -
,en who chase after women because they are transsexuals, and that makes them exotic. Plus, no worry about getting her pregnant.you have a gut revulsion to all transsexuals
True enough, as I'm sure most men do when they're not being politically correct. What percentage of men do you think would date or marry a transsexual?
You also have a fear of castration (many men do, you're not that special), and transsexuals are a problem for you.
Castration is especially repulsive, yes, but guys dressing up as women is also repulsive
You would have been a riot in Shakespearean times, where all roles, including female, were played by male actors. People didn't find it repulsive then, and it was only when the moral majority started their attacks that things changed.
Despite what you want to believe, nobody gets a free pass interfering with another's fundamental constitutional rights.
Like my constitutional rights to free speech? Thanks, I'm glad you're so concerned.
Ah yes, the last refuge of the freetard libertarians. Your right to free speech isn't absolute. Many forms of speech are illegal. For example, start making death threats, even to a third party. Start sexually harassing someone with lewd comments. Start passing child pornography around. False advertising. Try sending threats through the mail. Saying you have a bomb and are going to blow yourself up. Even copyright infringerment isn't protected, though people sure tried.
Now, lets get down to you. If you treat a transsexual at work the same way you have said you would treat Manning, even if it's only limited to not using their legal name, you can be fired for cause. There's plenty of speech that isn't protected by the second amendment, which is one reason why you would be well advised NOT

Re:Does it..
Yes, it does. You can enable it by right-clicking on the toolbar and ticking the "Menu Bar" option. To make the menu bar a fixture rather than appearing only when you press alt. When the menu bar is enabled in this way you can still toggle its visibility by pressing F10.
Personally I find the menu bar occupying a whole row on its own to be a waste of space, so I install the Personal Titlebar extension, which allows me to use the "Customise" screen to add a page title next to the menu.

The consistency is that every article that goes outside of Slashdot has that little green link next to the title
Unfortunately that's not true on mobile. That interface doesn't have the green parenthesized links at all, so if there isn't a link in the story text itself, there's no way to access the article(s). It looks like they updated this one and added the link.

Re:Not thinking this through are you
You can't see the money grab because you know jack shit about BOM and cost reduction.
You also don't see the money grab because you're too narrow-minded. Let me expand your feeble mind on why they killed the headphone jack.
I love how your lack of logical rebuttal below denotes your feeble mind. That's all children can do, after all, throw insults without any logical thought behind it. Typical behavior of an Apple user.
Been an embedded Dev. For nearly 4 decades; so I guess I DO know jack shit about BOMs and cost reduction. But there is no way you can get that down to your ten cents, no way, no how, no place.
And if Apple wanted to kill off alternative payment dongles that depended on the headphone jack, they could have done that without even touching the hardware, you imbecile. And what are you going to say when all those payment dongles simply switch to Bluetooth, or are redesigned for Lightning?
You really don't understand how all this stuff works, or you wouldn't have included that link to that ridiculous, paranoid-induced image. -

Re:Not thinking this through are you
It's so sad that you're unable to figure out why Apple got rid of the 3.5mm jack.
It's even more sad that you apparently don't have half a clue how planned obsolescence works - you force new licensing from third-party equipment manufacturers for that new Lightning adapter they're undoubtedly going to want to make and sell themselves.
Plus if people don't want to use the adapter, oh look, more reason for Apple to point you towards a pair of grossly-overpriced cheap-shit Beats headphones.

Re:A setback but...
Dear Mr 3208 (if I did the binary conversion right),
I taught a class on space elevator design last year:
Notes: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/...
Slides: http://imgur.com/a/cCTY5I should like to make a few comments on your post:
* There have been a number of small scale "space tether" experiments. These bear about the same relation to a full space elevator as flying a kite across a river does to a suspension bridge across that river. We have long way to go before we are ready to build a functioning space elevator.
* The popular image of a space elevator (a 60,000 km vertical cable attached to the ground) is based on a 121 year-old thought experiment by space pioneer Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. That design is laughably impractical, and nothing like what a modern version would be like.
* A space elevator is a transportation infrastructure project, like a bridge or an airport. We don't build that kind of infrastructure for a few tens of vehicles a year, neither would we build a space elevator. The economics would make no sense.
These comments should not be taken as implying I am against the idea. On the contrary, I think space elevators will be very important at some point in the future, and therefore I and many others have done work on the concept. But the time is not yet ripe for them to be built.
