Re:What I love
You should check out the gamergate page. Not only have dozens of editors been banned for edit warring, but the entire thing is a complete mess where even factual information is removed because it's contrary to the people who are pushing a narrative.[...] It's pretty sad when "know your meme" and "encyclopedia dramatica" have more factual articles.
Direct links for the lazy:
That's the same article where a dozen hardcore feminists were banned for edit warring,
Oops, you believed the Guardian. It's a common mistake. What actually happened was that one feminist editor Ryulong was banned after he was caught begging for money from the activist group GamerGhazi which was formed by Reddit's SRS clique to suppress the spread of information about Gamergate. That's like asking for money from the Trump campaign after changing the name of Hillary Clinton to "Lying Hillary." They were still going to let him off the hook but Ryulong acted like a total ass on the last few days of the arbitration case so one or two of the votes flipped.
Every other hardcore feminist editor got away with it. Then the admins took vengeance for their friend Ryulong by instantly banning anybody who reported the misbehavior of any of the hardcore feminist editors in any other area of the wiki. They also took out a bunch of the Japanese editors who tried to correct Ryulong's misspellings where this white fanboy had made himself Wikipedia's final judge of Japanese spelling and grammar and had previously banned anyone who disagreed with him. When Gamaliel got elected to the Arbitration Committee a year later, ArbCom quickly banned two prominent editors who had presented evidence against Gamaliel during the Gamergate case, Cla68 and The Devil's Advocate, without presenting any justification for either ban. It was straight out of Kafka.
Some people still mistakenly think that the adults will take charge if you stay calm and reasonable and don't break the rules. That has been tried and results in a quick and permanent ban. Explaining your own position is "soapboxing" and "beating a dead horse" and is grounds for a ban. Having strong sources to support your position makes you a "POV-pusher" who is "not here to build the encyclopedia", which justifies a permanent ban. Presenting evidence of rulebreaking by the admins is "trolling" and "sockpuppetry" and merits an instant ban, and they are likely to remove your comments and insult you on the way out. If you try to appeal your ban on the grounds that you never broke any policy, your appeal will be rejected and you are likely to have your talk page access revoked. You are required to confess to sins you have not committed and proclaim that the admins are correct in policy when they are not. The place is run by completely irrational people who belong in an insane asylum.

Re: Oh well...
Thought you were talking about Anita Sarkeesian. You know much like how she claimed that "gamergaters threatened her speaking engagement in Colorado." Except of course, that the threat was so full of BS, that no wonder the FBI said it wasn't credible. The only thing missing from that threat was a navy seal with 300 confirmed kills.

Re:Oh well...
Nice flamebait. First of all, there are no Feminazi's
No? You should let them know this. They exist, some of them are such shitty people that they've made it to meme status like big red there.
That derogatory term is mostly used by male chauvinists who want to enforce old fashioned gender -roles-. There are feminists, and they hold various ideas about equality.
You mean like the feminists out there that push that women should have nice cushy jobs in offices because "equality" while they don't push them into the nice shitty jobs where you're likely to be killed? You know, fishing, mining and so on. Or those nice shitty well paying jobs that are simply shitty jobs?
Strange that I remember the big feminist push in the late 80's and early 90's to drive men out of teaching here in the west too(fyi it's now so bad in parts of western countries that men make up less then 8% of teaching staff). They were the original source of the "men are rapists and not safe with children" bit. Then there's the "teach men not to rape" bullshit to boot. But we'll just gloss over the 20-40% rate of women(varies by sexual preference) who are rapists, or that they get much lighter sentence. Usually 1/3 of the sentence of what a man would, even against a minor. What? You didn't know that there were female pedophile rapists? Not even touching stuff like the rape and murders committed by Bernardo and Homolka. FYI she was the instigator in those 30+ cases, and was the one picking the victims.
no feminist ever said that men and woman were created biologically identical.
You should pay more attention to the bullshit being pushed. You can even find it from the flappy headed ideology books that they push these days. There's even a huge bunch of bullshit by feminists trying to drive sexual dimorphism as "sexist." Yeah, google that one and weep at the attempts to destroy science.

Re:They are totally different stories
But has it made our overall lives that much BETTER?
Never could someone have thought that the little project to protect defense networks against Nuclear attack would have so far reaching an impact.
The sheer quantity of funny cat gifs and sad puppy pictures is unprecedented! The value to humanity is almost equal if not greater than the risk to life and sanity created by giving direct access to everyone to marketers, scam artists and salespeople.
The best thing is that we have learned, through myspace and facebook and twitter, what we long worried.
Most everybody is boring.
And now that we've been able to look long into that selfie of despair that is the Internet of People, it is up to us to decide what to do with it.
Or go watch it all go down in a 409 scam.

Re:No, not fake news
I have several friends who are Trump supporters, and a lot of them posted some of the most ridiculous stuff from non-credible news sources (think "less credible than InfoWars").
Yeah, and equally ridiculous nonsense was being printed in the MSM and there were calls for the government to step in and declare what is truth or not and shut down problematic websites that disagree. I'll take the world where annoying wingnuts keep forwarding me Sorcha Faal.

Re:Pepe is a scam
No, it's a real meme: Feels good man. (Feels bad man is an obvious spin-off.)
The Nazi connection? That's a 100% bullshit joke that Clinton swallowed hook, line, and sinker. She got trolled by 4chan, and HARD, to fall for that. Except that as far as anyone can tell, 4chan never did any "Nazi frog" meme. No one can really figure out where the hell she got that from. It just doesn't exist.
There is no Pepe/Nazi connection. There never has been, except in Hillary's weird deluded "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy" pnemonia-addled mind.

What has been seen...
What has been seen cannot be unseen. What has been posted, once downloaded by anyone at all, cannot be unposted.
I've taken things down at the request of the party filmed, even though it has always been innocent. (You are NOT going to be passed over for promotion because of a video of you breakdancing while drunk.) In these cases, it was not too late. Hardly anyone "scrapes" YouTube, they just watch and move on. But if your video has already become a meme? You're screwed (no pun intended). All the shouting in the world isn't going to make it go away.
The lady here made several mistakes, all from the same root cause: delusion. She was delusional when she thought it was a good idea in the first place. She was delusional when she thought thousands of people were going to comply with a directive to "forget" and destroy the file, when it had already reached memetic levels. She was delusional when she thought that moving to another city would significantly decrease the chances of someone who had seen the video recognizing her. And she was delusional to think that the people who made her into a meme will give a flying fuck she became an hero. Many of them are edgy enough to even claim it as some sort of victory.

Re:Summary missing important piece...
You gotta remember, liberals love to justify bad behavior, by pointing to (often unrelated)
... bad behavior. You're using that word, "liberals", but who you're really referring to is right wingers who lie to themselves a lot.
It is as if they are four year olds getting in trouble, and saying "but Billy's Mom lets him drink beer/smoke dope".
Did your self-awareness at least tickle a little bit when you wrote that?
You mean, like when Bill Clinton said "Make America Great" is racist, even though he used that same exact phrase a number of times during his own presidential campaign?
Was he being a raving racist moran towards latinos and muslims when he was saying it? No? Then your lazy false equivalency is duly noted.
Actually, there are plenty of benefits that Illegals get, that Citizens don't get. The lack of proper "documentation' gets them a lot of linenacy in criminal situations that I do not get.
Is that what Santa told you? Cuz believing in that jolly old elf is just as rational as this alternate universe you've constructed for yourself. Both cops and the DHS have quotas, and busting anyone they can for deportation helps boost those numbers, even if they have to deport American citizens to do it.
While not "free stuff" there are a lot of Tax Payer resources that are available, expressly for Undocumented people, that I do not qualify for, such as legal support and help.
That was you in Missouri in 2003, wasn't it? Immigrants without documents subsidize your ignorant ass by paying into benefits they will never try to collect on, least they get deported.
And quite frankly illegal immigration is affecting the suppression of wages
Responsibility for which you are laying at the feet of businesses and capitalists eager to exploit these workers, yes?

Re:A question for those familiar with these novels
The Three-Body Problem IS hard SciFi. Well... it starts as such. Sorta.
But then the supposed hard SciFi turns into science fantasy with deus ex machinae around every corner.
A big part of the story is about aliens building a proton-sized computer by "folding-out" a proton to 11 dimensions, then folding it back in.Which would not be such a huge problem - if the said alien civilization wasn't forced to invade Earth on account of its own solar system's inhospitableness reaching critical levels.
Said civilization also has 1/100th of light speed capability (and faster) ships and other really advanced tech, their home is HIGHLY inhospitable (far more than say... Mars) and unstable - yet there is simply no other solution for them other than complete extermination of humanity.
A task in which they will be aided by Earthly pan-species-commies and ecologists.
No... Really. And then there's the second book.
And boy... if you have a short fuse for "everyone is stupid" episodes of Star Trek or some other SciFi show where every otherwise smart character acts like a complete idiot in order to serve the plot... well...
"Because reasons" everyone on Earth decides to lay all their hopes into supersecret plans of 4 "wall facers" - scientists and statesmen who are given unquestionable and nearly unlimited authority to create supersecret plans to save humanity in the upcoming war with the aliens. One of them being a slacker we meet at the beginning of the book.
Who is pining for an imaginary waifu he imagined on a dare - a stereotypical Chinese mail-order bride turned up to 11.
And then with the help of a detective friend and a global database of every human on the planet - he finds her.
Well... he finds a girl up to the specifications he imagined as "perfect". All the cringing while going through their romance does wonders for one's muscle tone though.
And then the day is saved by playing the Mutually Assured Destruction card in the pan-galactic game of Everyone Always Defects In Prisoner's Dilemma.
Meanwhile, ants still don't give a fuck.Scifi in Liu's book isn't really bad... but the plotting is horrible with supposedly brilliant geniuses acting like complete idiots any time anyone walks through a door.
On the other hand, there is a built-in level of "strangeness" on account of cultural differences. -
Re:doesn't Siri use a male voice?
I'm glad to know the Apache attack copter thing has returned to obscurity or else was pretty obscure to begin with. Know your meme link. It was a ridiculous criticism of transfemale identities. (As usual, it ignores the existence of transmen.)
For a moment, I was afraid that Lyin' Ted had something that resonated with thinking people like yourself. Of course it doesn't. How could it? I mean, Lyin' Ted didn't invoke the "Apache attack copter" thing specifically, not that I'm aware of. I more use it in the context of those who would wish physical harm to anybody they perceive as using the women's restroom when they shouldn't. Granted, the image of a Boeing AH-64 appearing above one's backyard, perhaps while one is mowing the lawn, and firing is... intimidating... especially since I've seen intimations and threats of such physical violence myself against people I care about.
(Naturally, having an infiltrator model woman suit, I do not appear on their radar. I wish every transwoman could have a woman suit this good.)

And if there's one thing that Microsoft is known for, it's their awesome parties. "How do you do, fellow party-goers?" All good clean fun until someone throws a chair.
But, hey, maybe we should cut Microsoft a break this time. I'm sure this is a one-time thing; after all, they've never dragged themselves down to the level of the lowest common denominator before.

Designated shitting streets
Maybe a poor analogy but the idea is that Naples is full of shit or at least it was a few years ago.
And by full of shit I mean it literally : it had a major waste problem with piles of garbage littering the streets.Does it have anything like the "designated shitting streets" in India?
As for the economy, it was all governed by the mafia. Businesses had to pay money to them for "protection".
Not so different from the U.S., where businesses have to pay money to the Music And Film Industry Associations for "license" to stay in business.

Re:Good - but it was going to happen anyway
A bunch of people identifying with a cause founded on a lie telling me they've done something good is not evidence unless you've drowned in their KoolAid already.
Why on earth should I believe them?
What lie would that be? And it's not them telling you that, it would be the information that was conveyed by the FTC telling you that. Unless of course you couldn't be bothered to read it.
Day one of gg was ethically spreading lies about Quinn because if ethics apparently. Those alleged reviews never existed.
Given the first event was doxxing, rape and death threats over someone who didn't do anything and the "movement" snow balled from there, why should the media take them seriously. Also rape, death threats aren't ethical, and so some group trying to take the moral high ground while making them is mental, no matter what they perceive the other "side" to be doing.
Since GG never said that there were reviews, rather she got preferential treatment which is true. Remember, if you're banging a journalist and they suddenly write something about what you're making that *is* unethical. If that same journalist is reviewing/writing/offering content for your game, that's also unethical. If you're dating that person and they write about it, it's also unethical. If you're paying for their hotel rooms, that again is also unethical. Note that her and grayson were involved in all of those. I can't figure out after a year why people still repeat that it was for reviews. And so I'm still waiting for these death and rape threats that you still have failed to actually show linked to GG. Want another example of said preferential treatment? Look up Anna Anthropy, I can think of several more including Tyler Wilde who had all of his articles on ubisoft products deleted because he was shacked up with a Ubisoft PR rep. That's unethical too, it's not rocket surgery.
Ah yes, Zoe Quinn doxxed herself to discredit them before they even started their movement. Is they no enormity that the anti gg crowd won't stoop to?
Which part would that be? The part where she still had access to her tumblr account, but there was dox being posted at the same time? Or the part where she was caught on 8chan doxing herself. Or how about when she was doxing people on wizardchan, you know the board that was for depressed virgins over 30..who are basically friendless, fat, and alone. Very progressive. Just like when she tried to shut down TFYC's charity to get more women into games development.
And yep, have a Merry Christmas, happy New Year to boot.

Re:GOML.
You are a bit confused about #notyourshield. If you review the GamerGate IRC logs, you can see that it was created by GamerGate and popularised through sock puppet accounts, using profile photos stolen from social media. The goal was to confuse people and make them think that there was a grass roots movement, and to smear opponents of GamerGate.
It's not really clear who you are calling SJWs here. GamerGate supporters? Can't be feminists since they clearly wouldn't deny that female gamers exist. The fact that they do exist is the whole point if Feminist Frequency's videos.
Come on, where's these IRC logs you're claiming that exist. SJW's and anti-GG have been claiming this for over a year now and this the second post where you claim that GG has this mysterious IRC channel where we plot this stuff out. You're doing a bang up job of showing everyone why when a minority speaks out, and it's not "on the right side" you claim they don't exist. That, is straight up bigotry.
It's not really clear who you are calling SJWs here. GamerGate supporters? Can't be feminists since they clearly wouldn't deny that female gamers exist. The fact that they do exist is the whole point if Feminist Frequency's videos.
You're not making any sense, let's try again. SJW's have been yelling "but our diversity" when diversity already exists. That diversity is called a meritocracy. But, feminists and SJW's have claimed that female gamers don't exist, they've also tried claiming minority female gamers don't exist, and that minorities in general who refuse to side with them don't exist.
Remember "listen and believe?" Yeah, that's from FF too, which sure explains a lot.

Re:The beatings will continue until morale improve
It only turned into gamergate because someone's jilted posted a bunch of lies and it exploded when all those basement dwellers felt offended that a woman should dump a guy that seemed so thoughtful and well spoken in his drunken rant.
That's not quite what actually happened or why GamerGate became a thing. After a man went public about the emotional abuse and infidelity he had dealt with from his ex-girlfriend, it turned out that one of the men she had cheated with was a writer for Kotaku and had given her favorable coverage without disclosing their relationship. GamerGate happened because, instead of admitting the mistake, Kotaku released an article claiming they had investigated and decided nothing improper was going on, despite photographic evidence otherwise. Personally, I find it very confusing that anti-GG keeps insisting that the entire incident was lies from a jilted ex despite the provided evidence and Quinn later admitting to it.
Many gamers were upset about the coverup, and it might have died down on its own, except several gaming news sites then seemingly independently produced a series of "gamers are dead" articles, which attacked and criticized gamers as a whole and accused gamers of widespread, systemic misogyny because they dared to be upset about a reporting scandal that involved a woman who cheated on her boyfriend. Making things even worse, it was discovered soon after that the series of articles was coordinated through a private mailing list used by all of those publications, where they colluded to decide what should be published.
A lot of people were very upset about this, and what's when GamerGate really took off. Since then, the involved sites have continued to hammer down on their accusations, and a large number of third-wave feminists have joined in after hearing calls of misogyny, trying to claim that strong criticism is the same as harassment, even though men like Jason Schreier, Nathan Grayson, and Jonathan McIntosh have been just as harshly criticized as any women involved. Meanwhile, the examples that anti-GG tries to point to as harassment and threats regularly turn out to be either unassociated with GG or complete fabrications. I keep trying to find somebody who has actually committed physical violence in the name of GG, and I still haven't found any. Women Action Media even did a study and released a report indicating that only a tiny percentage of GamerGate-related activity was involved in harassment at all. If you're going to judge the group based on the actions of a few outliers, then you can condemn pretty much any group.
And it might make you feel better to tell yourself "10 people still believe that gamergate is still about ethics", but KotakuInAction is up to well over 53k subscribers now and is still working hard at exposing corruption, censorship, and collusion. Calling them misogynists just makes them even more determined.
