Re:Little difference anymore between PC/console
You'd think so, but, as the original Xbox has shown, that's not really the case.

VisualBoyAdvance
There's no such thing as a Visual Boy
There is, but Nintendo wants it pulled for a different reason.

Re:"protect the interests of customers"
For at 3 generations now, at least 1 major console has used a standard disc format:
Please read my reply to another comment.
XBox - DVD, CD
XBox 360 - DVD, CDThen why would one need special DVD drive firmware to read Xbox discs?
So what exactly is a standard disc format if not CD or DVD?
Something I can compile, link, and burn.

Re:So basically
What emulators have you tried? It looks like it should work for the most part in Project64. If it doesn't, try Mupen64. You might try different graphics plugins as well to see if it works with those. NGEmu should have everything you need, including plugins.
If that all fails, try the PlayStation version, which I know works. Aside from running at a lower resolution and some other minor differences, it's pretty much the same. Get it from Emuparadise if you can't find a good torrent.

Re:Diebold Windows CE (Visual Basic for Applicatio
(not that there is anything wrong with VBA, VBA has its uses -- it's just that it's really a poor choice for making supposedly secure and transparent voting machines)
Apparently, all VBA is good for is running Game Boy games.

Re:This story is idiotic
And here I thought they were talking about VisualBoy Advance...

Emulators are useful for developing homebrew
while emulators haven't received a lot of legal attention in the past, IP holders
I am an IP holder; my IP is 69.246.213.81, leased from my ISP. If you are referring to copyright, say "copyright". And yes, I am a copyright owner as well.
may also start attacking them as "adjuncts to piracy".
Could Microsoft reasonably attack Bochs, claiming that it "enables" the use of unauthorized copies of MS-DOS? No, because FreeDOS (which recently turned 1.0) works on Bochs. Likewise, when I use VisualBoyAdvance to run my own programs and others', whose copyright am I infringing?

ARM is patented
ARM?
MIPS is popular because it's unpatented (except for a few less common instructions, which aren't taught in Computer Organization and Design anyway). A common term project in computer architecture courses is to design a reduced implementation of the MIPS architecture on an FPGA; some students go beyond this and end up with Plasma. The ARM architecture, on the other hand, is still patented.
(arcem isn't maintained, from the looks of it, but it's a neat pure-hardware-level ARM platform simulator.)
The most popular ARM platform simulator nowadays seems to be VisualBoyAdvance.

Emulate the GBA on your PC
(Context: a GBA-based clone of an alleged PSP killer app)
I'll have to call my friend and get my flashcart back to try.
Not necessarily. If your PC is at least as fast as mine (0.86 GHz PIII), you can use VisualBoyAdvance to run Luminesweeper and most other GBA programs.

A free clone of oldskool Tetris
Yes, my beloved Tetris. Though, I'm very picky about what version I play. I don't like ones without art, ones with the "slow drop" mode with holding down the drop key, and I only like the JKL-space controls.
Once you get tired of Spectrum Holobyte's Tetris, here's what you can do if you really like the classic control scheme but are looking for a new twist on the concept (pun intended):
- Go download VisualBoyAdvance and Tetanus On Drugs. Both are free software under the GNU GPL.
- Make the following control bindings in VBA:
- D-pad left -> J
- D-pad right -> L
- D-pad up -> Space
- Button B -> K
- Button A -> I
- Start -> Enter
- Now start your game.

show them the beauty of open source
you say these people are techs like yourself?
Show them the beauty of OSS software ^_^. Find some software that doesn't work they way you'd like (it could be web-based software such as minibb, or desktop-oriented, such as the gameboy advance emulator Visualboy Advance), edit the source code, recompile it [if needed], and then show them the software, changed to fit your needs. You simply can't do that with closed-source software. -
Re:Name confusion?
I know for certain that Linux ended my computer fun. WHERE ARE THE GAMES?!
VisualBoyAdvance runs on GNU/Linux, and both Tetanus On Drugs and Lumi-what? run on VisualBoyAdvance.
StepMania runs on GNU/Linux if you have 3D working.
-
Re:And what do his friends have to say?
No, Linux does not play Mario!
Then what is VisualBoyAdvance for Linux?
-
I don't like the blocks but the blocks like me
There's also Tetanus on Drugs, for PC and Game Boy Advance, written by former classmate of mine
I am the author of TOD, a GPL'd tetramino game that simulates the effects of hallucinogens. Unlike Spew, which has two effects (roto and zoom), TOD has eight effects (roto, zoom, fuzz, roto3d, constant, linear, quadratic, and cubic) to throw off your perception of the tetramino field, all powered by Mode 7 (or in the PC version's case, a high-level emulation thereof).
If you missed the link to the GBA version of TOD, which I consider more polished than the Allegro version (for PC), you might want to look here. If you don't have a GBA flash card, I recommend running it in VisualBoyAdvance.
he was already crazy when he wrote it, but it'll send any sane person over the edge.
I'm only as crazy as my Asperger syndrome lets me be. It's the neurotypicals who are crazy

Macros in educational Office?
Really want to seem some files that do not import correctly? What about viruses?
Fixed. But seriously though, are Microsoft Office VBA macros used widely in K-12 education?
Many places want Microsoft Office experience not all that many want OpenOffice experience.
Here, Microsoft's generic product naming strategy works for you, as you can list "office software" experience without having to list "Microsoft® Office software" experience unless, as afd8856 pointed out, they're looking for a VBA programmer where VBA doesn't mean GBA.

Re:Emulation is a godsend
Some games work near perfect. Some games don't work worth a crap. Check out the ePSXe Compatibility List. Bear in mind that you may have to tweak plugin settings to get various games to run right. But there's lots of help available on their message boards.

Nice
Though i find this project more interesting.
Shall this work on that? -
Here's the other dev kit
Compilers, emulators, flash cartridges, and sample code are real as well.
-
free gba emulator

Official site
Not down, just moved. It's here now.

You Need To Check Out IMR Technology
What made me dust off my own Dreamcast is the great work being done by I.M.R. Technology. The 80's WOWpack - MAME is excellent and they seems to keep adding new project and versions almost weekly. Check it out.

Galvatron
I really liked Galvatron Solves the Matrix. He raised some interesting points, and may still be right.
The original thread is from here. -
Re:Site will go down, here's the info...
You mean like this?
Go here and catch up on the modern emulation scene. There's a lot of crazy crap going on. -
PS2 on XBox
I've seen a few outraged posts about the ps2 on xbox error in the writeup. Out of curosity, if you chipped your xbox, would you be able to run a playstation emulator under xbox linux?
Maybe msft should rent xboxes if they really don't want people dicking with them. Or they could just pour each one full of epoxy, so it's just one solid brick ;-) -
At least for game-emus... NGEmu is the best place to visit. I do play PSX and N64 games on my old old PII450 with acceptable speed
..
And yes, my Atari ST nostalgia was revised by one of the truly great emulators around then, PacifiST. Nowadays the best emu would be Steem - try it! Little Green Desktop has applications to use ..
