    Could this explain why we haven't found the universe teeming with extra terrestrial life? Every civilization becomes more and more advanced, then starts doing more and more powerful experiments, and thinks, "the chance of destroying our planet is really slight... we're perfectly safe going ahead with this." Then, poof! I've seen it proposed in the past.

    Yeah, like everything is so simple and clear...
    It is so sickening to think that you can be on trial, and no matter what you do, the jury condemned you after reading out the charges... People are full of prejudice and try to pass moral judgment even (or especially) when they are not any cleaner than you....

    And i know this is just a comic, but it's funny because it could be real. Sadly.

    Take care of the children, but with real care, not with the illusion of it to shrug of your guilt by sending random people to prison....

    or cartoons of naked children (watch out, Simpsons Movie rippers), or images of statues of naked children (David, get out your ID). Child porn is clearly a very bad thing, since children must have been abused to create it, but you have to wonder if the laws against child porn might be a bad thing too. It reminds me of a comic -

    The sad thing, this has happened. Parents in the UK have been arrested for pretty much exactly this. From what I can see, no one seriously thinks they were abusing their children - they just took a few admittedly tasteless pictures of them.

    Controversy struck in late September of 2007 when police confiscated a picture taken by a well known photographer by the name of Nan Goldin that featured two naked prepubescent girls. The concern surrounding the picture was the "provocative" position they were standing in. The picture was one of 4,000 pictures in John's collection. On October 27, 2007, the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. I actually think that pictures should be legal in themselves. If they show someone committing a crime, they could be used as evidence to prosecute that person but would not become illegal in themselves. Making pictures illegal when they don't depict any criminal activity is an absurd overreaction.

    How are the XKCD comics funny? I've looked at all of them, and they just plain aren't good at all. Referring to "ninjas" or some other Internet meme shouldn't bring out the laughs, and often it doesn't.

    Now take The Perry Bible Fellowship comics, they're funny. They clearly have wit and intelligence behind them. They make the XKCD comics look like the complete crap that they are.

    So this artificial bone material is similar to artificial bone, why is that suprising? I could say the same thing about wood if it was used as artificial bone (http://pbfcomics.com/?cid=PBF086AD-Yarteries.jpg# 153), it doesn't mean it would be good or bad at the job. If it has the nanostructure of bone then that is significant.
