Reasons?
the reasons behind his decision to change the focus of his creative efforts

Re:Penguins

Re:It's in writing folks!
Pretty much reminds me of this.

Re:Yeah, but where does she...
in advance: I'm not informed as to her opinion.
Does it go beyond just "Keep mature games out of the hands of minors"?
Because if thats all it is I refer you to:

The "political cartoons" of the game industry
Am I the only one who finds Penny Arcade's seeming influence inexplicable? The problem with Penny Arcade strips is that most of them aren't even comprehensible -- much less funny -- without a dozen paragraphs of supplementary commentary.
While certainly some of their comics could be funny to anyone who doesn't follow the games industry (such as today's comic), I agree that there are others that you wouldn't "get" unless you were into gaming (such as one earlier this week regarding WoW). But you know what? I don't think that's a bad thing at all.
If you don't get the jokes, then they probably weren't meant for you in the first place. In the meantime, all of us video game junkies still get a kick of out them (hence their massive popularity).
If that attitude seems a bit elitist, then yeah, I guess we're guilty of that. :) -

Re:I still can't get a Wii !
"At least in the case of Wii Sports, that doesn't work as well as it sounds. You *can* do it, but the movements are a lot less natural. Getting up and moving around makes the games a lot easier to play, which helps keep you on your feet."
True dat. I play Wii Sports on a daily basis, because it's fun for quick bursts, and I like to pretend the Fitness Age test actually has merit. ;-) But when I try to play using just wrist flicks instead of full-body motions, my performance drops significantly. Might as well get up, get into the game, get a better score, and not look like a toolbox in the process.
It's no different than playing Duck Hunt with the Zapper. Sure, you can stand right next to the screen and get perfect marksmanship, but why? -
This happened with some kids on my street.
Apparently Kid A and Kid B set up some myspace page for Kid C with his picture and claiming to be homosexual. Now obviously Kid C begins getting a lot of flack from his 'fellow' students.
What happened? Kid A and Kid B had a visit from an officer of the local police.
As far as I've heard, problem solved.
I think this is more what schools are talking about attempting to curb, moreso than Joe Asshole messaging someone with "hi homo lolololz, r u rly gay" which is easily avoided.
The incident reminds of the penny-arcade comic http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/03/19 . -
Re:I bet Easy isn't actually easy.
Penny Arcade had a good take on that feature.

Re:As much as I hate Sony right now..
Yeah, Microsoft got a lot of FlaK for some of its initial backwards-compatibility decisions...
I don't own a console right now, besides a Magnavox Odyssey 500, but I'm considering a PlayStation 3 if the price drops in the States even more significantly than it did recently in Japan, AND the Linux community makes more significant breakthroughs (I don't want anybody's crappy DRM in a product I own). There haven't been any significant issues with PS3 hardware failure, have there? This seemed to have been a big deal with the Xbox 360 on release. -

Anyone know what it runs?
It looks a bit like Qtopia... but very much more slick than the version I have on my Zaurus. To be honest I was happy enough with that, this new version should cause some envy.
Slightly off topic, but on the subject of small media devices, the Penny Arcade comments on the iPhone/Zune are worth a look as they can pretty well be considered trendsetters for the market of people willing to spend lots of money on things that go beep:
http://www.penny-arcade.com/2007/01/15
I had hoped that there at CES I would have an opportunity to use the Zune's social features - its "higher brain functions," as I put it - but I was only there Thursday, after the place had largely thinned out. Near the Microsoft booth I was happy to see many devices speaking wirelessly - so many I had to scroll! - until I realized that they were named after genres, and were (in fact) the display units, which added greatly to my shame.
[snip some context]
The iPhone has the hardware to make file sharing possible, though I doubt their arrangements with license holders allow for it. Even so, I'm not sure they would investigate this. My experience argues aggressively against it.
Maybe such things would work better with an open platform, so that lots of device manufacturers can implement it. Certainly in Europe the density even of iPods isn't high enough to make sharing interesting... but mp3 playing cell phones and other mp3 players of all types are probably at greater than 1 per person by now. Can't think of any better place to start working on a system than an open cell phone platform. -

Your "news" story about the Massachusetts video game bill is utterly flawed. do you journalist wannabes EVER talk to an original source, or do you just quoting other pro-gaming sites? this is ridiculous!

Sounds fine
They are minors, and minors don't particularly need to be playing offensive games. If their parents don't have a problem with it, then the parent can easily purchase the game for their child.
I offer the same advice as Penny Arcade. Work at it for a while. It just takes time. Practice showing some maturity. Given a few years of practice--how old are you? 12?--Let's say about 6 years of practice, and you can play these games too! -
Ok.Meanwhile, the word has also come down that games will be on the Zune by Summer of next year.
I'm sure that will make both of those Zune owners very happy.

I quit WoW
And tuesdays were a big reason: it was my day off work. I could get up before the gf, and enjoy my good old lvl 39....oh wait. The game was awesome, and PvP rocked. The queues to log in, the disconnects, and nerfing of my nightelf priest into oblivion, and not being able to play for over 10 hrs of my "weekend" led to me voting with my dollars and go back to CoH. Maybe I'll give it another go.
This was me and my gf -

I agree! The PS3 is awesome! It's like drinking unicorn giggles!

Re:If only stupidity were illegal
Plus there is no advantage I've noticed to putting that much power into your movements. In all the games I've played so far, timing is more important than raw power.

Re:Someone show this to Sony
But it is not really a screwup.. the straps perform perfectly with normal use.. it is the "over excited" players that break their straps. And it is also not wide spread issues.. I have only found a few (under 50) confirmed cases of the strap breaking.. and every one of the cases.. the user was whipping and throwing their arm everywhere.
Though... Penny Arcade explained the reasons better... http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/11/29 -
