A replay attack would not require extensive knowledge of the frequencies and codes of the control systems.
The attacker even had advanced notice of when the control signals would be broadcasted. Nothing in that article suggests that an exact replay of the test signals weren't used, or couldn't be used.
I suspect that the same 90 second pattern that occurred during the hack was the same used for the announced test.

Re:Hmm
Hello,
While Bulgaria was once a hot-bed of virus activity in the DOS era, the focus on malicious software has spread throughout Russia, Eastern Europe and the Baltic states, to the extent that it has crowded out Bulgaria as being a well-known source of malware. Of course, today malware is a global phenomenon, and you find clusters of development throughout the world, including regional specializations in both Asia and Latin America for targeting domestic banking, for example.
Vesselin Bontchev, one of the first people to document the Bulgarian virus scene via his seminal work, The Bulgarian and Soviet Virus Factories, remains active in the field and would probably be the best source for current information on Bulgaria's position in the threat economy. He can also be found on Twitter, where his tendency towards logorrhea is somewhat tempered by the 280-character limit.

Where's the raw data for the PACE trial?
Where is the data for the PACE trial? https://me-pedia.org/wiki/PACE.... Can unrelated researchers rake over same data to verify the conclusions within it? No.
That said, harassment is bad. In order to play fair, activists should restrict their activities to release the "release the data behind the findings for the PACE trial that's now found its way into policy, or withdraw/retract the published papers and the policy". I don't myself have CFS/ME but I have been following it. Over 25 years now, I've known three people personally with CFS/ME and totally see how debilitating it is to have, and frustrating to have to explain/justify in front of friends/relatives as well as some/many health care professionals. Just as MS has now advanced to treatable with a stem-cell reboot, and Parkinson's & Altzhiemer's are showing signs of pathogens being the cause, that's the direction of research that's being delayed by PACE directed findings (allegedly).

Re:This is news?
The primary reason 'elite' universities exist is to enable the wealthy to convert wealth into prestigious credentials.
... they let in a few token poor people for free, but their primary means of selection overwhelmingly favor the wealthy and connected. And additionally, since the less advantaged students have had to perform so much better even to get there, the system can absorb the most promising members of the ordinary classes, again protecting the ruling class --in those cases where they successfully conscript these recruits --from a potential threat from below.
Back in the day before liberal-identitarians chased most of the "class reductionists" out of the Left, we used to describe this as one of the "means by which the ruling class reproduces itself."

Re: And it's *TRUMP* that can't accept losing?
This is why the electoral system helps keep peace. A large part of our current discord comes from trying to make a multi-cultural, continent-wide country have one-size fits all laws. That doesn't work - and it surely doesn't work when it's unequally enforced.
Here's an example we have the crazy scenario where it's close to illegal for one person to transport his legally owned firearms to another (and zero exception for people who make an honest mistake in how they transport these items).
Are you complaining that we have "one-size fits all laws" or that we don't?
In the case of guns, you might have a valid complaint since the 2nd Amendment should override the 10th. I'm not going to debate the 2nd Amendment here, but clearly the Amendments apply to all states. Isn't that "one-size fits all"? Or do you want the federal government to step in and impose a more specific version of "one-size fits all"?
Do you have any examples of a "one-size fits all" law that the Federal government is trying to impose on us? Mostly such laws have to do with our rights as outlined in the Bill of Rights and other amendments.
As an American who has freely moved from one state to another several times, I think the Senate is enough to balance the small and large states. The President should be elected by the people IMO. As it stands now, someone in Wyoming's vote counts more than mine and mine counts more than someone's in California.
The EC was a necessary compromise in our early days to hold the Union together and had a lot to do with slavery, just as the "three-fifths compromise" conceded that slaves were at least 60% human. Back then states also did act more independently and wielded more power, but over time the federal government has gained power and within that, the Presidency has gained power as well.
What's the point of even voting for President if you live in Texas or California? The state where I currently reside is at least sometimes considered "purple", but it's still quite predictably blue when it comes to voting for President.
I guarantee you if Trump had won the popular vote and Clinton had won the EC, Trump's supporters would be rioting in the streets. In places like the Fox News comments section you'll see some openly advocating for civil war so the socialists don't take over our country. I really hope they're trolling or that DHS is looking into those posts. Maybe they haven't noticed what civil war has done for Syria in the last few years.
If you don't think Trump supporters would be so hypocritical to turn on the EC, just look at their idol:
Here's 3 tweets from 2012 that Trump later deleted:
“He [Obama] lost the popular vote by a lot and won the election. We should have a revolution in this country!” (Nov. 6)
“The phoney [sic] electoral college made a laughing stock out of our nation. The loser one!” (Nov. 6)
“More votes equals a lossrevolution!” (Nov. 7)
Those should disturb you, not only because Trump is taking a different position and he wrote "one" instead on "won", but because Obama actually won both the popular vote AND the EC so it wasn't even an issue that year.
He didn't delete these:

That is how science classifies him.
And that is the attitude I'd expect from somebody whose most complex science education was high school-level chemistry and was later reinforced by ignorant bigots spouting memes.
Sex isn't even binary, it's a bimodal distribution. Your genes have a strong influence on that, but there are people with XX chromosomes who produce sperm and XY chromosomes who have ovaries. And on top of that, there are half a dozen other ways your chromosomes can be configured, and your hormone distribution can change things on top of that. Most people have XX or XY chromosomes and can be broadly classified as female or male because of that, but that's incredibly reductive -- everybody's sex is unique to them. Your desire to shove everything into a simple box is not actually scientific at all.
And given that actual, physical sex is that complicated, you think that gender, a mental construct, can be easily divided into two categories? That's as scientific as saying that the tides and lightning happen because God.
Here's a more detailed thread from an actual biologist on the subject, if you're willing to read: https://twitter.com/ScienceVet2/status/1035246030500061184

Re:Riders?
It's only 3 pages long, read it yourself: https://twitter.com/SenMarkey/...
The amazing thing is that they took three pages to basically write "The FCC's reversal of its existing policy in [declaration number] is hereby reversed."
This bill stinks on ice. It doesn't actually enact net neutrality, but rather weakly allows Internet services to be regulated under a section of FCC code that would allow the FCC to regulate net neutrality if it so desires through rulemaking. The bill makes no attempt at defining net neutrality, nor any attempt at defining what constitutes reasonable rulemaking, leaving it entirely up to an unelected body (the FCC) to make those decisions.
To be fair, I'm not saying that they shouldn't pass this. It's an okay stopgap measure, except insofar as Pai's FCC is unlikely to actually issue any meaningful rulemaking to protect net neutrality, which makes this bill largely an empty gesture. But this isn't the end of the story. It is barely even a beginning.
What we actually need is an Internet Users' Bill of Rights that lays out what is and is not acceptable behavior by ISPs in concrete terms. Until we have that fundamental framework, merely having the authority to regulate ISPs over net neutrality concerns still doesn't buy us a whole lot.
Trump was the one that got rid of net neutrality through his appointments to the FCC. Let's not pretend that he's in favor of it. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't need a bill.
Pai wasn't his appointment. President Trump just promoted him to the top spot.
If President Trump even has a position on Net Neutrality, I would expect it to be extremely superficial, limited strictly to what his advisors have told him is the best policy. After all, even fairly tech-savvy people consistently misunderstand what net neutrality means and/or deliberately try to coopt it to suit their own desires. There's essentially zero chance that President Trump understands it at all, even superficially, because almost nobody does.
That said, I very much doubt that he has any position on Net Neutrality whatsoever. He probably doesn't even know that the controversy exists. After all, it doesn't have anything to do with his reputation and it doesn't benefit his business ventures, so why would he care about it? Just saying.
But I guarantee if we could create a really well thought-out bill and name it the Donald J. Trump Net Neutrality Bill Of Rights, he would not only sign it, but would insist that Congress pass it.
:-) Just saying. -
Re:Riders?
It's only 3 pages long, read it yourself: https://twitter.com/SenMarkey/...
You're begging the question, here. What you've linked to just says "put it back the way it was under Obama." The guy you're replying to said "Trump asked congress to introduce such a bill to codify NN into law, not executive policy."
So in the end, this is still executive policy, but it's even worse than that--because the legislature (who is supposed to make laws) is not doing their job, they're telling the executive what their rules are supposed to be. It's not supposed to work that way.

Re:I hope it takes off
It's funny that Trump can't block people on Twitter because that would infringe on people's rights to communicate but somehow Twitter can ban whoever they like and that doesn't infringe on those exact same rights.
A bit of an inconsistency there.
There is no inconsistency. A judge ruled that replies to Trump's tweets were protected by the First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law [...] abridging the freedom of speech". Twitter is not the government, they are not bound by the First Amendment, only by their terms of service, to which every user must agree. The terms of service unsurprisingly say users get to keep using the service only so long as they conform to Twitter's rules.

The problem myself and others face with allowing VTd virtualization is that for some this will be the only lever available for stopping Intel AMT from being accessed externally.
When enabled and your computer is off it's still listening on TCP ports. When stealth mode firewall is on with all incoming ports blocked the port is still open. Virtualization is the only thing that physically allows the network hardware (wired and wireless) to be shared concurrently with both the host and management engine.
