Re:In Objective C??
I guess you didn't know that Doom was originally written on NeXTstep? Or that the original level editor was a NeXTstep
.app?http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Development_of_Doom
And it's trivial to call pretty much any sort of code from Obj-C anyway.

If I walk past a security camera in a full sized squirrel outfit, humans couldn't even figure that one out let alone a computer.
And in other news hookers are wearing hot, new outfits. Also the meaning of "cat burglar" is changing

A bibliography on this subject
I put together an annotated bibliography on Dealing with hate speech, flaming, and trolls for this year's Computers, Freedom, and Privacy conference. It's got tips for dealing with this, experiences, and a bunch of other references. At the bottom, it's got links to a handful of example moderation policies -- including Slashdot's and Boing Boing's, natch, as well as others that aren't as well known. The general principle: decide on the guidelines you want to have, discuss them, and enforce them.

Web?!
The wiki says there is no FULLTEXT support. TFA says no Prepared statements and no query cache. How is this supposed to be good for a web application?

Re:Let's here it for Zero Point Energy
I could buy that if it weren't for the fact that Rodney completely depleted a ZPM in only a few minutes of operation. (See: McKay and Mrs. Miller) If the ZPM used capacitors to store a "boost" charge, then he would have been unable to completely deplete the ZPM. Either that, or the ZPM was nearly depleted anyway which means that it was about to become a paperweight anyway.

Riverbed didn't perform even as well as the Mentats in our network.
You could get much better performance by just adding some sapho...

Re:A question about Second Life
Oh boy...
Short answer: in this context, "furry" refers to matters involving anthropomorphic animals and related concepts. A "furry" avatar in Second Life would resemble a humanoid animal.
Longer answer: For a more comprehensive answer covering many more contexts, we ourselves can argue about the specific semantics for long periods of time but this is a good start summarizing the entirety of what "furry" can represent. (Finding additional concurring views and dissenting views from the linked article is not difficult and is left as an exercise to the reader.)

FOSS firmware that adds RAW support to higher-end Canon P&S cameras
The CHDK project - open source firmware to add pro features (such as capturing to raw format) and geeky features (movement capture) to Canon A###, S# and IXUS### point+shoot model cameras. The firmware boots from the SD card (the internal firmware is not changed).
Useful links are features and supported models (from the FAQ) and examples of results (see samples on right) using CHDK.
It is like getting a pro upgrade to your camera (Aside: I have a PowerShot TX-1 which I love and recommend to anyone who wants a P&S camera). -

want to propose: WULUSee: http://sgalaxy.wikia.com/wiki/Game_Slang
the name "wulu" is now a widespread word used in place of calling somone a newb, (wulu is a character so moronic that his name is now shuned)
anyways the new world of SG is all tatical and nobody ever just sees it as a game they are always screaming at eachother and calling eachoter wulus for there mistakes.Simply love that screaming: WULUUU!, WULUUUU!! during SG battles...

Re:Mass Defect
That's not what they usually do. That's not what happened with GalCiv2. So maybe the activation has not been enabled yet (they keep it for a further update of the game) or they no more plan to use it.
In a the GalCiv2 era, people who played the game on an offline laptop and who patched the game (by transferring the update with a USB thumb drive) were nagged with a "please activate to play" screen. Stardock as an automated system through email for these situations (you copy paste a bunch of code -obviously through another PC- and they reply with a licence file for your offline machine).
Here are some sources about Stardock and activation: here and here. -

Re:Good luck
I wouldn't say Ron Paul's demographic is as tech-savvy as that. Most of them know how to log in to Digg or YouTube and install basic forum/wiki software and that's about it. Moneybomb Guy Trevor Lyman pretty much just registers domains like a fiend where he sees an opportunity to profit from the cult, then just deploys the same default CMS install again and again and again, with Feedburner pledge charts.
Does a bunch of unsecured, un-updated, open-to-anonymous-editing, Mediawiki installs for Ron Paul sound very tech-savvy?

Re:nice looking building but how about the inside!
I dunno; that building looks like something out of Tron to me. Every time I look at the renderings I wonder where they're hiding the recognizers and why they're not showing the solar sailer dock.

It's simply unusable
I tried a simple search for Google, and aside from looking like shit, the page causes Firefox to really stutter with all the junk that's on it. This is an embarrassment.

Make your own desktop
Why not just make your own desktop environment?
I used to use Gnome, but then it got too bloated so I moved to XFCE. Now XFCE is bloated (memory leaks in the panel app don't help either), so I made my own "desktop environment".
I use fbpanel as a panel, Sawfish as a window manager, ImageMagick's "display" program to set the wallpaper, the Gnome settings daemon/screensaver applications, and a quick little Bash script I wrote to launch a Nautilus window without taking over the desktop.
Sawfish has more features than Metacity, and pretty close to the same number of themes.
The whole thing takes less than 40mb. I realize something like this isn't for everyone, but for me it does just what I want without using that much memory. -
