Re: It's Here Now Until ...It's not the vacuum itself that you have to worry about. It's when the Hyperloop implodes due to a leak in the vacuum tube, which is inevitable, especially when you look at how they're claiming to build it.

Re:Doesn't work well with glasses
Vive has space for glasses. You can also purchase prescription lens to put in the HMD so you don't have to wear glasses at all.
The bulky HMDs aren't going to be a problem much longer as we'll no doubt move to using light fields instead of lens+screen solutions. Here is a prototype from 2013 that is already quite small in size compared to our current HMDs. LThey also have many other benefits like allowing you eye to focus at various depths which can't be achieved with a single lens+screen.

Bird nets
They sell bird nets for keeping birds out (or in) to cover things like fish farms to prevent birds from eating all the fish. They're relatively inexpensive and I'm sure you could get them in a finer mesh if you wanted (so drones can't drop stabbing implements, though I suspect prisoners can already make a shiv with stuff they find in the prison).
Just because it's a high-tech problem doesn't mean it needs a high-tech solution. Although prison guards might get a sense of satisfaction actively watching for drones, then commanding a Phalanx to take it out, it's unnecessary and profligate. -
Follow the money...
Casey Neistat did a review of "American Kingpin: The Epic Hunt for the Criminal Mastermind Behind the Silk Road" by Nick Bilton. The Silk Road was the black market of the Internet where you could have gotten anything. I haven't read it yet but looks like a good read.

Really, you want a Federal act about science education? Are you sure partner? Maybe I should rephrase it to avoid arguing against a unicorn, you want James Inhofe, Randy Weber (Chairman House subcommittee on energy) and the rest of them to be in charge of science curriculum?
I am straining my brain to think of any possible way in which this is a good idea.

Re:How many in NASA under Obama?
And the problem with that is? I mean, unless you're a racist turd? Why not have the Muslim street "feel good"? Maybe less jihadis, maybe not, costs nothing.
Who's the racist turd here? I mean that if the Obama thinks that Muslims are so depressed about their past accomplishments that he needs to make it a government policy to "make them feel good" then is that not racism by low expectation? Isn't such a policy treating Muslims like children that need a pat on their head for a "good job" they did crapping in their own pants? I'd think that they should find it insulting.
No, it actually would help. Proof: Uneducated people were not insulted by the biggest elitist on the planet. How? Trump makes uneducated people feel good about themselves and, as a result, people like him.

Re:Miss the artwork
I'm not sure if you are referring to lossy compression or dynamic compression
I totally get people buying lossy compression - the simple fact is that AAC and MP3 compressed music is indistinguishable from the original in double blind studies.
Dynamic (volume) compression, on the other hand, is another matter entirely. Consumers have no choice over its use. It's most striking when you compare an old (1980's) album vs a new (2011 "remastered" version. You have to turn up the volume on the old version, but you immediately hear the difference.
The YouTube Channel Production Advice has many, many videos from a mastering engineer and goes into the subject at length, and in detail.

Re:real world
There was no ideological friendliness.
Things aren't quite so simple.
"Lenin is the greatest man, second only to Hitler, and that the difference between Communism and the Hitler faith is very slight." - Joseph Goebbels, “Hitlerite Riot in Berlin: Beer Glasses Fly When Speaker Compares Hitler to Lenin,” New York Times, November 28, 1925
“I know how much the German nation loves its Fuhrer,
... I should therefore like to drink to his heath.” -- Joseph StalinFrom: p. 37, The Collapse of Communism in the USSR: Its Causes and Significance, by Doug Lorimer
Stalin's foreign minister, Vyacheslav Molotov, even denounced a war against Hitlerism as "criminal". In a speech to the Supreme Soviet on October 3, 1939 he stated:
The English government has declared its war aims as nothing more nor less than the annihilation of Hitlerism
... A war of this kind cannont be justified in any way. The ideology of Hitlerism, like any ideological system, can be accepted or rejected -- this is a question of political opinion. But anyone can understand that an ideology cannot be destroyed by force. ... This is why it is sensless, indeed criminal, to wage any such war for the elimination of Hitlerism."German–Soviet military victory parade in Brest-Litovsk
In these sad times it is exceptionally comforting to see many Parisian workers talking to German soldiers as friends, in the street or at the corner café. Well done, comrades, and keep it up, even if it displeases some of the middle classes - as stupid as they are mischievous. The brotherhood of man will not remain forever a hope: it will become a living reality. --- L 'Humanite, 4 July 1940

Nazis & Communists: Ideological Bedfellows (Read the whole thing.)
. . . . Max Eastman, an early communist who later saw the light and rejected communism, wrote in his 1937 book The End of Socialism in Russia that the Soviet Union was “a totalitarian state not in essence different from that of Hitler and Mussolini.” Eastman later wrote in a subsequent book, Reflections on the Failure of Socialism (1955): “Stalin’s totalitarian police state is not an approximation to, of something like, or in some respects comparable with Hitler’s. It is the same thing, only more ruthless, more cold-blooded, more astute, more extreme in its economic policies, more explicitly committed to world conquest, and more dangerous to democracy and civilized morals.”
Erica Mann in 1938 noted the common war waged by Bolsheviks and Nazis against God and family, and wrote: “Again, all we have to do is replace ‘Bolshevism’ with ‘National Socialism’ to get a fairly exact picture.” Sir Arnold Lunn wrote in his 1939 book Communism and Socialism: “The quarrel between Communists and Nazis or between Stalin’s Communists and Trotsky’s Communists is not an economic controversy, but a struggle for the spoils of office.”
Herman Rauschning, the Danzig Nazi leader who later repudiated Nazism, wrote in his 1939 book The Revolution of Nihilism: “It is in the nature of things that the planning and methods of work of the Soviet State and the Fascist and the National Socialist States should be growing more and

This was the most difficult stage landing to date
She wasn't centered very well, must have had a hard landing due to a swell or wave.
The landing was hard because the stage had an extremely difficult landing profile, the most difficult one so far. It entered the atmosphere at a ridiculously high speed. The speed at the beginning of the re-entry burn (just before the stage really bites into the atmosphere) was 8600km/hr and 6600km/hr at the end of the burn. Going at 6600km/hr through the upper atmosphere puts you right on the edge of burning up. The final landing burn had to use three engines as opposed to the usual one engine.
In comparison, for the CRS11 landing, the second stage was going at 4500km/hr at the beginning of the re-entry burn, and 3500km/hr at the end of the burn. The landing burn was using only one engine. Because of the slower speed, it was far more easy for the stage to make a nearly perfect landing.
IIRC, on a really dodgy landing like today's the stage actually aims for the side of the ship and not the centre, so that if the landing burn fails, the stage doesn't sink the drone ship. When the landing burn begins, the stage corrects its target towards the centre. If you watch the feed from the ship, you can see from the water disturbance that the stage is over the water on the far side. It must have done a crazy divert to land on the near side of the ship, which explains the fact that the legs used their crush core shock absorption. It was probably 50/50 that this stage would survive.

Is it really necessary to redirect people to other channels trying to profit off of clips from something HBO already made available for free on YouTube? I'm all in favor of getting around stupid restrictions about viewing content, but there aren't actually any restrictions to get around here.

Re:Simple question
It can keep you between the lines on the road
I can barely do that, especially the 2.0 hardware. It drifts over lane dividers or into walls or off cliffs if you are not paying attention.
Check out this video of it in action. The guy who made it is a huge Tesla fan, the car he is driving was actually a free gift from Tesla. https://youtu.be/6Hs82YoCXQc

Re:Simple question
Tesla's Autopilot 2.0 hardware is interesting, and at the moment is actually a step back from V1.0. Take a look at this video: https://youtu.be/6Hs82YoCXQc
AP2 seems to be using cameras only, rather than cameras and ultrasonic/radar sensors. The result is that it can't see walls like the partition dividing the road. It also seems to struggle with corners that are on inclines, often drifting over the dividing line into oncoming traffic.
Seems like they have a long way to go to fully antonymous driving. Could be interesting if they decide that they can't do it with current hardware.
