My suggestion to you, and anyone reading this - watch Gasland. Then fact check it. There was at least one site that did a (nearly) point-by-point analysis and...well, you must form your own opinions.
Spoiler - based on my (admittedly incomplete) fact checking, the movie (while being propaganda) appears to be more accurate than not. My take is that there are far more real* and potential downsides to fracking than the proponents would like you to know.
* why, oh why, in this day and age would it possibly be legal to pump a mix of 600+(iirc) often unspecified chemicals into the ground? Especially in major watersheds?
TLDR: If nothing else, it is a bit odd to see tap water catch on fire right out of the faucet.
>> Fuck me.
Yes. Fuck you.
Was nothing more than a joke crossing carapace (look it up) with grill (in street speak). Which you apparently are not "hep" enough to comprehend.
What happened to a sense of humor? I ask this honestly - would "The Far Side" still be appreciated these days?
And people look at ME funny when they discover I have hundreds, if not thousands, of actual dead-tree books in my house. I'll somehow survive a week w/o the internet.
My wife isn't a techie either (despite a technically-oriented business degree (one of two degrees)) and she manages just fine with Netflix, Hulu and the steaming pile of stupidity that are the Networks and cable broadcasters that put shows online. Plus we save 100's every year by not being a part of the cable TV customer-base.
One suggestion - Blackout Weeks. That's right, a solid 7 days of nothing electronic* except music (radio, CD or Pandora. No browsing youtube for music videos). The first Blackout week is going to be rough for most of it (this is all based on my personal experience of course so...grain, salt, whatever). Subsequent Blackouts are met more with quiet resignation (usually). It's fun to watch your kids rediscover real-world play periodically.
Worst work day maybe, I can see that. But worst day ever? While some folks have sadly experienced their worst day while at work (think of your own examples, I have mine) I suspect the majority of us experienced the worst day ever in our personal lives. Of course, I don't view the WH tech infrastructure the most important thing in life. Which may explain why I don't work directly for the government anymore.
The only reason I draw this distinction is (not because I read TFA), I wonder if most political appointees (and politicians for that matter) increasingly come from well-connected, sheltered and privileged backgrounds where nothing bad ever really happens.
Ummm...perhaps it was *because* there was a tame Congress and near uni-lateral global support after 9/11 thus providing an environment with no functional checks and balances. A distinct unwillingness to listen to opposing viewpoints seems to have also played a role.
I have to second this. Hire out the big jobs -- anything foundation-related/structural especially -- but otherwise learn to do it yourself. Yes, it will take longer but there is really a sense of accomplishment at the end.
Presumably you bought the house because it either really appealed to you; you saw it as a great investment or whatever. If you feel strongly enough about it, you'll learn to do the job right.
FWIW - I've owned seven -- and lived in five -- houses so far. Most have been fixer-uppers and I've enjoyed making each of them better than before. WARNING -- it can get addictive.
Plan to get your degree in terraforming to help create better worlds for the future colonies.
Please remember to leave the pax out of the air processors though.

For the record - I am NOT comparing my stupid post to the brilliance of "The Far Side".
Seems to me that all depends on each persons relative lat/long.

If so, shit's gon go down man. Ya feel me?

True rednecks never let go of their beer...

Sad but true. Please excuse me while I get a beer to cry in...
Ya'll use SIN to gain employment? That's freaking awesome!
Could be tough to explain to the wife tho...
That lends credence to the time is money theory.

* Homework is the only exception.

Perspective matters.
"...or whether men just have that little value in modern society."
We still got the sperm bitches! Of course, after we aren't needed for that it's pretty much going to be spider killing and house painting...
I did that about 7.5 minutes ago as a preemptive strike -- you should notice in about 3...2...
"and you start looking for the thermite." ... You keep thermite laying around? You must have some killer parties.

Wait a minute...computers are republican? Does that explain all the pron I keep seeing on my laptop?
Why does asking this question on /. seem a lot like walking into a biker bar wearing a feather boa and asking for a virgin Tom Collins?
Son, you might be in the wrong bar...

EVER buy a car that has a "Designed for Windows" sticker on it.
I would prefer they didn't practice biological reproduction. I know, they could use immaculate conception!
There ONLY SOME people who should be seen cycling in thongs.
Fixed that for ya.
