  1. Qubits == Quits? on Quantum Computer Demoed, Plays Sudoku · · Score: 1

Anyone want to guess how long before "qubit" gets compressed to "quit" (as "bigit" became "bit" in the last century)? 'quits' seems a little too self-deprecating from a marketing perspective. I predict it will be shortened to 'qunts' isntead, as in: "By the end of next year, we will have a thousand qunts working to solve puzzles that normal computers could solve in seconds!"

Cingular is the American version of Rogers wireless (at least, whenever i go to the states, it says Cingular right under Rogers), and Apparently Cingular and AT&T are one and the same now (Rogers is AT&T, you know). I assume Rogers will be the Canadian iPhone carrier, and I would think the transition should be quick and simple. However, iTunes took forever to go to Canada so it may be more of a legal issue (i.e., getting the Canadian version of the FTC to approve it).

I'm soon going to be dropping Rogers and doing what my girlfriend does, that is use Cingular and buy the 'west coast' package, which allows roaming anywhere on the west coast. And thats because I travel all over the northwest, not because I'll do anything for the iPhone!

Visualizing data is one thing that is still has a lot of work to go, but exploring large amounts of data visually could really use new HCI techniques. Personally, i think this thing is pretty cool, and i think there is definately potential in it (perhaps with haptic feedback through a glove?)

This concept has already been developed and is thriving.. At my dorm, everyone that uses iTunes has their library shared over the network. This, accompanied w/ myTunes, allows for thousands of tracks to be browsed and downloaded. I like this plugin idea because it allows for the same concept to be practiced over the internet rather than a LAN. My bright idea of recent: promote a large 'iTunes party' where everyone can bring their laptops and share their libraries over a WLAN and suggest new music to each other... Of course, this would get a lot of people very angry!

The political system isn't perfect here, but at least corruption is obvious here and the culprits get their just punishment. By the way, pot IS decriminalized here. You don't get arrested for anything unless your growing or trafficking. I've had friends in the states sent to jail for having just a couple grams. On windows, if i just want to casually hit up a web page, i can easily open a new explorer window and type in the address, as opposed to waiting for mozilla to load up(though mozilla has a much better web browsing environment). I think the layman feels the same way. I'd love for there to be a more efficient way to browse files so i could delete explorer from my computer altogether. Well, i'm sure there is, but i'd rather hold out until i get another mac:)
