This post wasn't interesting, it was insightfull - its true, VIA always has problems with their chipsets until a few BIOS upgrades/driver fixes down the road. Oooh...I just can't wait for the 4in1's that break systems over it's knees. I don't really think this is going to really get people like myself (the budget gamer) interested. Frankly, I don't play that many games and those that I do load up now and again play perfectly fine on my AMD based system.
However, the market for these products is going to be all those shops that are and always will be INTEL based, looking for a cheaper way to still tell the man upstairs: "Yes, we have INTEL!"
you can take it to a service center and exchange a rented modem - no questions asked.
and a scheduled trouble call to bring a modem will NOT result in a charge - if it does, the rep who put the order through didnt know what he was doing or talking about.
im not saying its not possible (we use aspect)just don't think we do - all the calls i've heard, when on hold, depending on which side listening to, u either hear the csr or nothing.
also, when an employee gets complaints, they raise the % of monitored calls. if a customer calls in, swears, raises hell, etc, there isn't going to be anything done to effect that customer's service adversly - i mean cmon - that's bad for business. These things REALLY are used for training. If you don't like being recorded - don't call. Either that - or don't act like a jackass on the phone - simple enough.
As far as what's heard while on hold - I know for a fact that customers here are NOT recorded while on hold. However, it is normal for them to call in, as soon as they get connected to you - they ask YOU to hold and then procede to ream out children/spouses.
Remember - it takes all kinds to make the world go round - you never know what you'll hear on a call.
i've always wondered about that. given the proliferation of thumb drives, etc....why hasnt someone developed a camera/mp3 player/whatever that accepts storage in the form of a usb thumbdrive?
i've often thought of a smallish mp3 player, with a screen, minimal built in memory (for the OS) and a usb connect to plug in any usb removable storage device
but when they compared this to spybot - did they use the included abilities - such as the teatimer or the ability to lock the homepage against hijacks (it doesnt just warn you from it being changed - it doesn't let it!) as well as locking the hosts file?
yea, and its going to 15C here today in pittsburgh, pa.
In january! we had snow from texas to michiagan - and didnt get anything but rain in pittsburgh, while south carolina got hit with snow.
I have a feeling things are going to be wierd this is going to be a fucked up year.
Its like its spring out right now....trend is supposed to continue through this month. Now when do we stop dismissing these odd climatic events as freak occurences?
yup - this is one reason why open source works so well.
one company puts time and moeny into a great product, which they reap much-earned benefits from. time passes, and said company is into the next cycle of development and pretty much done with the old product. Released free and commercially available - so someone that doesnt have large design/development resources can pick up and pay for said product - modify at will and if worthwhile - profit legally. Or, us geeks in the basement can tinker at will for free, and give our friends something to try out (for no profit) at the next lan party.
Benefits all around. End-user too: they get not one, but many possibilities, both free and paid for, depending on which flavor they want.

you're not familiar with the default settings, eh?
windows is not an OS for dumb people - it takes a lot of work and effort to secure it...
other OS's are a lot more secure out of the box
unfortunately, it's the morons (glaring generality, yes.) that use windows, and the more informed using the other OS's....
mod parent up
floyd's "several species of small fury animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict" would surely get some attention too
im pretty sure thats the title anyway...
alos to get that speed, the modem needs reset ;oP

comcast doesn't care if you have a server or not.
just don't call and expect help with it.
it's a support issue, they don't want people calling in with problems with IIS and expecting to help.
at least ibm has opened a lot of things to allow people to use and change stuff they hold legal control over
and one more (omg @ this)
Brucey!
