uproar.com used to(don't know if they still do) pay out cash prizes to winners of the games. Whenever I used to play their bingo game, there would be anywhere from 600 to 1200 players online and the cash prizes ranged from $2 - $15 for winners.
Now the tables have turned and the gamers will have to pay to win instead of win to get cash.
As a comcast user switched over from the excite network, I have to say that I liked excite better. They didn't cap my upload and much less downtime.
I can tolerate the 128k upload cap from comcast, but if my internet connection is ever not working for any reason, I call 1-800-comcast and make sure they know. This is what every comcast user should do. If they don't want to be flooded with calls with people saying "your internet is broke", then they should put forth an effort to keep their servers up and running and more importanly, that they do NOT cut off someones service just because they use NAT.
And if I ever find out my service was shut off because I am using NAT (a linux box w/ iptables), then I will have a few four letter words with them. I never did (and probably never will) like comcast, but they are the only broadband provider in my area.
before winamp version 2.5 it was shareware. If I remember correctly, it was $14 to register it. But even when winamp was shareware, it had no nag screens or limitations.
after looking in a local phone book I found several for last names that start with "Win" and "Lin". Microsoft will probably sue all people who's last name is "Winfree" because some people might think that these people give out copies of Windows for free. Microsoft will probably also sue all of the "Lindsay" people because the first part of thier last name is the same as the first part of the word "Lindows".
Well I hope Microsoft doesn't sue me for using the word Windows without asking for their permission!
If online stores start charging taxes nation wide, then there will probably be a decrease in sales for them.
This would not be good for companies like UPS, Fedex, Airborne Express, and the USPS. They would start losing business because they will have less to ship.
UPS has already reported that their earnings are down 19 percent. If people quit buying merchandise online, then UPS will lose some more business and their earnings will fall even more.
Most government agencies don't use open source products because they're meant to be used by people who know what they are doing on a computer and the good majority of cracked boxes out there are running Windows. That's certainly not something I'd want to introduce into the corporate element, and definitely not if I was working for the government!
I don't think that the time this new virus was released was an accident. Since a virus like Nimda probably took more than a week to write, it may have been written by someone connected to bin Laden. Also, it may have been written many weeks or months ago, but not released until today.
So if the person who wrote/released this "Nimda" is reading this, I just have to say that you'll have to try harder because my Linux box running Apache has held up through Code Red, and is holding up extremely well with Nimda. The only problems it causes me is filling up my log files.
there are now more than 1000 posts to this story, which is the most I've seen since I began reading/.
Although that is a big number for/. posts, there are many many more than 1000 who lost their lives in New York today. My prayers go out to the families of the people who died today.
news sites that are inaccessable right now(to me anyway) are
dailynews.yahoo.com
www.reuters.com
www.ap.org
I think it would be a good idea to use lynx or some text browser so as not to put as much strain on the slashdot servers. Slashdot is the only site that is carrying this story that I can actually access right now.
May there now be a moment of silence for those who perished in this terrible tragedy........

kansascity.com tried that last year and I don't think it took off too well. I don't know anybody who has a @kansascity.com address, and I've never recieved email from anyone with a @kansascity.com address(not even a SPAM message).

If witches practice witchcraft, do warlocks practice Warcraft?
Al Gore. If he invented the internet, then he must have invented packet switching first
Nintendo will come up with another game prism
Just as long as they don't make it a sphere. I would hate to have it roll off the table and break.

Constructs were good for making cars(if you had the wheel pieces), but if you crashed the car too hard, some of the plastic pieces would break.
Excite has a story about it here
I hope Excite@HOME customers don't demand refunds.

I have the @home service and they aren't blocking port 80 where I live. My apache log gets filled up every day with stuff from code red.
...that the seller doesn't prefer PayPaI!!!
