The whole idea of Dijjer and BitTorrent is because the link does NOT work, it's SLASHDOTTED! But sure, wait until the crowd is gone and it will work again.
It's because of all those damned terrorists, the government has to hire lots of people very quickly and can't make a deep background check. And given the reputation of Sam Fisher, they where bound to hire a crook calling himself Sam Phisher.
For streaming any media from your PC (which includes TV if you have a tuner) to most devices (laptop, PDA, cellphone), have a look at Orb. They are still in beta testing mode but they look pretty neat. The PC must be a XP MediaCenter however.
The new Moore's law: the number of CPU double every 18 month.
Until now, nobody never really had a "full" CPU, so the double was always less than two. But today, CPUs are more efficient that we can say that most transistors are used, so now we have more than 0.5 CPU in our machine. You double that, so you get a bit more than 1 CPU. And since you need an integer number of CPU, it must be rounded to 2.
And now, if you'll excuse me, I'll return to coding my revolutionary tool for developping new CPUs.
Prove to me that I can legally play HL2 five years from now.
To play the devil's advocate, prove me that you won't be able to. Who said that Valve doesn't plan to remove the authentication once the game isn't subject to much pirating anymore?
But really, if you want to make sure that you can still play in 5 years, you can already do so. There is a specific Steam file that you need to backup so that you don't have to authenticate when you reinstall the game (ClientRegistry.blob IIRC).
One big difference is that I can use HL2 on any other machine once I registered. While with XP, I can't just reinstall XP on my brand new machine with out having to deal with Microsoft support.
This works only if you successfully registered before and didn't log out.
The grand-parent implies that he was allowed to play while waiting for the registration to finish. If so, he is not yet registered and thus can not play offline.
None. Or not much. Profit depends on even more external factors than stock-options. It safe to say that stocks always to do well if there is a profit, but even without profit, stocks can still do well (or long enough for you to sell anyway). The safest is cash bonuses.
What about this scenario: You work hard, your work exceeds all expectation, you're the ideal employe. Then your company hires a guy to sell the product, find funding, whatever. But this guy is bad, really bad. The company end up selling at loss, doesn't get the badly needed funding,...
What is the worth of your bonuses then? How are you going to pay your house or the food for your children?
Profit-bonuses are nice, but the problem is that they depend on other factors than just you. And this is especially frustrating (and unfair) if you lose because of a moron who didn't do his job correctly. So it's like normal investment, sometime you can offer the risks, sometime you can't. Low risk, low profit. To each to decide what is better for them.
You mean that if Linux is taking market share it's because people are saying bullshit about it?
It doesn't matter if it's bullshit or not. The system rewards what looks appealing, not what *is* appealing. So a simple speech that looks good is better rewarded than either a long speech that looks good or a short speech that looks bad. And nothing is better than saying "we have 99% of the marker so that means we are the best".
Back then, searching was returning crappy results. Because of that, when I found an interesting site, I was bookmarking it. Now, I just search it with Google rather than search my bookmark list (it's faster!). If I want PuTTY, I search that word in Google, click the first link. If I want info on printf format, I search "printf format" and again, click on the first link.
So for my part, I do a lot more search than I used too. Because of that, "special interests" are not, in porportion as important as before.
How many flies does it need to run? How many flies can one expect in poisonous area? An robot that use a fuel that can't where it is needed is not really useful!
But sure, wait until the crowd is gone and it will work again.
I was missing one file in the torrent, so I updated it. The two or three people who already downloaded it may want to get the update.
:)
Sorry about that. One day, I'll get torrent hosting right on the first try.
Here you go.
Max initial upload 30KB/s.
Up for the next 24h or so.
It didn't work for the first 10-15 minutes.
Then it was a bit slow for the next 20 minutes or so.
Now there quite a few seeds, so the upload is a lot better
preview, preview, preview!!!!
Torrent here
Hopefully it works, it's my first. Max upload (30KB/s)

"Thanks you, thank you, I'm here all week..."
Better link with this guy so that we get two peers instead of just one for now

Or they should use the same system that we can now find in some flashlight. Shake and charge. Ideal when playing FPS games :)

I'm not looking forward to any kind of fin chunks in my Tuna. Only the meat part interest me.

... Dell executive is trying to find a way to prevent those 10% morons who keep using ad-aware/spybot after buying those 100% infected Dell machines.
After all the pizzas he ate waiting on the roof, the belly started to show up between the pants and the shirt. Then he didn't look credible anymore.
