true their are a few cases where it is not (someone is still in school or just out of school, disabled, or lives in an area with no opportunity) but in most cases yeah it is stupidity.
i wouldn't say that... I'm confident in my skills and know that i could have a replacement job in a reasonable amount of time (4-6 months) if i decided to leave my current job (or lost my job due to downsizing etc) and i make sure i have enough money in savings where i can live off it for 6 months without a problem. The problem is that it is a buyers market for people who aren't very good at what they do and for people who are not able to relocate. Plus people who are not smart enough to have savings and a huge amount of debt and live paycheck to paycheck can't really take a stand and leave a job they don't like... but that's their fault not the companies.
Heck in some fields (nursing) it's definitely an seller's market. My fiancee knows that she can get a new job (likely with a signing bonus) any time she wants anywhere she wants. Heck the entire reason she's even in this country is because of how desperate the medical field is for nurses.
>While Wifi Connection is nice, the Friend Code system is a real pain. Hopefully they won't continue this model for the Wii.
signs seem to be pointing to the wii using the friend code system... I'd rather pay for a non pain in the ass system (but i'm still getting a wii to put beside my 360)
actually they havent said that "it's nothing to worry about" instead they've said they don't know if they have actually gotten everyone involved in the plot... thus the alert level.
course if they didn't raise the alert level and a plain blew up i'm sure people would be yelling just as loud that they didn't do enough to prevent it... just can't make people happy either way.
>PlayStation 2 - Played every PlayStation game, huge success
actually no it doesn't, the original ps2 was incompatible with some PS games and the newest JP PS2 model (the silver slim model) is incompatible with some ps2 games.
Oblivion looks pretty damn good on my 200 buck non hd tv, why do i need a 2000$ tv. if i wanted to upgrade i could find a hdtv for less than 2k?
I happen to own it on both platforms (got it for the pc first because i had gotten frustrated trying to find 360's for sale, that weekend i wa finally able to get a 360) and while it looks a bit nicer on my pc (i have a smallish monitor but the pc can run it at very high settings) i find it more relaxing to play on my tv so that's the one i use.
people who want a space-based persistent world, with bounty-hunting, smuggling, space combat, sword fights, magic powers, alien landscapes, weird creatures, chainmail bikinis, funky armor, control an army of robots, and use a blaster that allows you to shoot first?
>(SOE) is the same team that brought you The Matrix: Lagging Online.
they only host the matrix, they did not develop it. SOE's hosting is pretty good so i'm not sure that's the cause of any unusual amount of lag in the game (i havent played the game so i wouldn't know)
Aparently the following nubmers came out of the press conf
1) 1 million units manufactured per month 2) 6 million units available by the end of Q4 (march 07)
Assuming those numbers are right they are going to start manufacturing in October for the November release and their are going to be around 1 million units available world wide for the November launch.
Is it just me or does that seem REALLY DAMN low? 1 mill systems doesn't seem like enough for just the Japanese market, not to mention the Americas and Europe.
Plus we all know what PS first Gen hardware is like... this is going to make the 360 release look like a cakewalk.
i think repeating microsoft's mistakes from this past christmas would be even worce. Sony may be better off not releasing the ps3 this year if they don't have the software, can't produce the units, and have the traditional first gen sony system issues.
Besides if they drive shoppers to the stores looking for out of stock PS3's those shoppers are very likely to walk home with an in stock 360 or revo.
>What is wrong with wanting an Ipod and only 7 CDs on it?
it's a waste of money. With that few cd's you could buy a cheepy flash mp3 player and put the 7 cd's on it. or buy a cd player that reads MP3's and burn all 7 cd's on a single cdr.
Actually it is a good thing. Since they don't have their workers signed to a non compete clause they are free to work for another game company. Depending on how the clauses are worded at Ubisoft they would be fired but still unable to work for a competitor (or possibly even do their own game development) for a certain period of time.
>Sure it was pretty noticeable in the first two episodes (can an animated camera ogle?) but to let that stop you from enjoying the series for it's many other fine qualities is a little short-sighted.
Honestly i've never liked any GITS media. I didn't like the first movie and from what i've read i've not liked the manga. I gave SAC a chance but i found myself laughing at the camara angle choices more than enjoying the show.
>Since when? Since a few years ago if industry reps are to be believed. GITS:SAC is a perfect example of this, the show is primarily made for an American audience (when it was being started GITS wasn't that popular in japan, it may be now because of the show but it wasn't the 'brand' that it is in the states) and the reason it has such a high budget is from American co-financing.
I don't know if it's still the case since i really don't keep up with the market anymore but a few years ago just about every show has a significant amount of production money from American companies.
The industry is tight with numbers and units sold but i would bet that more anime and Magna is sold in the US than in japan.
as for Family Guy and Futurama getting higher ratings perhaps that's because they are better shows.
BTW Poke-a-likes are anime too, no need to dismiss them.
>It's only a matter of time before Sony buckles and announces either mass-shortages on the PS3 this holiday season
h -america-400k-japan-100k-198718.php
they already have
http://kotaku.com/gaming/sony/ps3s-at-launch-nort
you would think that the slip from 2 million units at launch to half a million units at launch would be bigger news...
assuming that greyhound exists in all nations (many of which have no opportunities) or is accessible in all areas of the US.
I'm pretty sure some of the more improvised Indian revs don't have greyhound service

>it's the manufacturer's fault, not some evil GameStop policy.
no it's still gamestops fault because they only order enough copies to fill pre orders so they can get people to see the 'need' to preorder.

Time Pilot is considered obscure? That was one of the most popular games back in the 80's.
BTW who would want to destroy their xbox controller playing Track & Field?
When i proposed to my fiancee I gave her the ring and let her 'borrow' my PSP. Guess which she was more excited about ;)
>PlayStation 2 - Played every PlayStation game, huge success
actually no it doesn't, the original ps2 was incompatible with some PS games and the newest JP PS2 model (the silver slim model) is incompatible with some ps2 games.
actually it was samual jackson, not net fans, who convinced them to keep the origional name
>No, you just need a $400 X-Box360 and a $2000 TV

thank god they did change your submision, i would have stoped reading at "Micro$oft" if they hadn't.

the psp sold 600,000 units in it's first week in the usa alone. those sales were considered 'low' and were only in one region.
1 million is a tiny number of units.

Remember this is Lionhead, their mediocre games are considered AAA world class (black and white anyone, Fable anyone?)

in some area's sci-fi isn't a part of the basic cable package. Some people may not be willing to spend 50 bucks extra a month for jusr one show.
Or the person may work friday nights or (gasp) have a social life and not have a tivo/vcr.
I know i'm happy it's availabe on itunes since i know i'll miss it friday night but i can watch it when i get back home on sunday.
