Who is going to compensate me for my increased stress level from living in fear of being sued by the RIAA? If I had kids and I wanted them to behave, I'd just tell them stories about the RIAA coming to get them and financially ruin them.
Don't jaywalk kids because the RIAA will come get you. Eat your vegetables so you can be strong to fight the riaa.
I have an jailbroken and unlocked iPhone, but I haven't even tried to pirate apps from the app store. Frankly, I didn't know it was possible. In the past I have pirated almost everything. I just dont see the benefit of piracy to save $5 especially since it's probably a p.i.t.a to pirate an app store app. These figures look like hot air to me.
Im not going to speculate on statistics or comparisons with other browsers. I switched to Safari 4 beta a few days ago because it's fast and it just works.
Once you switch the tabs to their normal spot, Safari 4 is an incredibly quick and nimble browser.
I have noticed a lot more dropped calls on the iPhone 3g. Between the poorer battery life, the dropped calls, and the inability to unlock the sim, the upgrade feels like a downgrade from my old iPhone.
I know France is used as an insult, but if they protect their middle class rather than let the greedheads in corporate management gut their job base for their short term gain before ejecting with their golden parachutes onto their next abomination, maybe its not so bad.
Dont expect the government to protect you (or the rest of the middle class)! And definitely dont whine about it. Take some ownership for your success or failure. America is the land of opportunity because of the ease of making money. Figure it out!
Your company should standardize around Hindi - the new programming language in India - It is an extremely natural language - you write down your requirements in English (even on paper), send it via e-mail / snail mail to a supercomputer called "India", the "India" machine turns it into Hindi and feeds the information to a cluster of other India machines, known as "Indians" and then these "Indians" break it down into functions, write the code, put it back together, compile and send you the binary - you wont have to worry about what language they code it in!
I've got a mac, I used Konfabulator on that for a week. Then apple came out with Tiger and I used their Dashboard for about a week. Then I tried Yahoo! and their Dashboard. I used them all for about a week... but essentially it is all eyecandy with minimal functionalty. There is no time savings. I have weather in the bottom right of my mozilla firefox window and any other stock info or whatever, I can pull up in 10 seconds with my bookmarks. Dashboard and the like are a waste of CPU cycles with little value beyond that.
I think that Steve jobs is not motivated by greed. He is motivated by ideals. Steve Jobs wants to create the best "widget" (replace widget with Computer, Portable Audio Player, Animated Movies) and this is demonstrated by Pixar creating a movie a year whereas Dreamworks is churning them out. Steve Jobs wants his products to be the best...
The article was short, had no substance, said nothing that hasnt been said a million times before and was completely unrelated to building the gadgets that the kids use! BOO! - How do I mod the article down?

Panasonic and Samsung are number 1 and 2 respectively in Plasma. I dont know if Sony will really be the brand of the future for people's replacement TVs. Time will tell.
I have seen this before. I cant remember where, but I distinctly remember seeing this footage. I dont think it was in Pirates of Silicon valley, but there is no way I havent seen this before. Does anyone else have the same recollection?
I used to buy peripherals based on os/hardware. However, I bought an iPod for my commute into NYC last summer. As a result of my positive experience, I purchased a powerbook last november, an iPod Mini for my girlfriend last February, Airport Express a couple of months ago, and I advised my Mom to get the iMac G5 about a month ago (which she loves by the way better than her previous PC running winxp). So lets see... after spending 500 bucks for an iPod, Apple has received a further $3500+ purely because I liked their little white music player. Case in point. I dont know how many others
I also do this. Sometimes it is tough when spammers spoof the recipient address. How do you know which address it is going to when the header is spoofed? Sorry if that sounds stupid, but I have never been able to figure it out. By the way - here is a great quote from the spam website:

You may find it hard to believe, but some people value more than just their network speed. And actually, larger cities are more efficient places to set up MANs (Metropolitan Area Networks), and to meet with your customers. I moved to Houston from NYC. We waste an inordinate amount of time by commuting to / from work (people dont live close to their work) as well as to and from business meetings. The reasons that cities came about still exist, and it is all about being in proximity to your customers. Why am I in Houston anyway? My customers are here therefore I am.
The only thing I have with bank of america is credit card debt. I hope that disappears in the whole wikileakageddon bank of americassplosion.

Seriously though, I hate those guys.

They go back as far as 1915 - but not to the first issue :(

Booted into Ubuntu 9.04 just to say "first post". Let's just say the ubuntu folks still have some work to do.

Maybe that can be the next contest. However, I think it will be won by vmware or microsoft.
I just got a message from a friend of mine saying I have been /.ed . Now my life is complete

Combining Digg.com and slashdot would be great!
